Barcelona's Not So Hidden Secret

Advantages: A beautiful setting with some amazing animals
Disadvantages: Is perhaps overshadowed by other attractions

...Whilst in Barcelona earlier this year we were looking for somewhere to visit that hadn't been on my tourist's agenda on my previous visits. Having spent a morning at the aquarium in the port are we headed for the Zoo. Located in the middle of the City it is well signposted in every direction and features as one of the main stops on all of the sightseeing tour buses routes. There are a couple of car parks located near to all of the entrances and again this is all well signposted from the city's main access routes. Over the last couple of years we've visited a few Zoos and Aquariums and it would be fair to say that Barcelona is one of the biggest Zoos. Europark Hotel, Barcelona

...The Location Of Europark Hotel The Europark is a three star hotel in L'Eixample district on Arago. It is in a fantastic location very close to the Passeig de Gracia and a short walk to Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic (about fifteen minutes walk). The metro and trains get you anywhere you want to go in Barcelona and its only a five minute walk to the nearest station. The metro and trains are reasonably priced. Metro is 1 euro per ride. Train from airport to bottom of Arago was 6.50 euros each way. Visit the Nou Camp!

Advantages: great value for money and loads to see
Disadvantages: none really

...If you're an avid football supporter like myself and you visit the fabulous city of Barcelona, its almost rude not to visit the Nou Camp, home of Barcelona FC of the spanish football league. It is the largest stadium in Europe with a capacity of 98,772 - almost 10,000 more seats than the newly opened wembley stadium which cost £778million to build! It seems they're not satisfied with the current capacity as I was told on the tour of the stadium there are plans for expansion, taking the overall capacity over 100,000 - wow! When visiting the stadium you can visit either the stadium museum, do the stadium tour or as I did, both. Its excellent value for money and there is so much to see, it really is a truly awesome experience. Nou Camp!

Advantages: great stadium, great team and an interseting tour - what more could you want!

We were staying very near to Barcelona and made several day trips around the area visiting places such as the Guadi museum and the Sagrada Familia, but none of these compare to the surprise that was brought upon us. Fancy A Tour Of The Camp

Advantages: Standing on the Pitch looking up into the stands. A great value tour
Disadvantages: Thats there was no game on the weekend we were there, although we did go and see Espanyol instead

...Well for the second of my Barcelona ops, it has to be the first thing we did on the Friday, a visit to the Nou Camp. The main reason for our trip was to see Barcelona play someone, however this wasn?t possible as they were away that weekend. So instead we did the next best thing, The Nou Camp Stadium tour and visit to the Barcelona FC Museum. Of course I?m sure it comes as no surprise that on our first full day, having got drunk the night before, we went to do something related to Football. Having decided that it wasn?t that far from our hotel to the ground we set of walking and half an hour later we were still walking. Thinking we were getting no where near despite having seen the ground 15 minutes previously, we turned down a road that looked quite posh and there right in front of us was the largest Football stadium in Europe...

Advantages: Everything you want on a city break
Disadvantages: Too many things to do

...have spent more time in the various parks at Montjuic, Parc Guell and Parc Cuitadella and to have taken a trip on the cable car. And then there is the Nou Camp, home of Barcelona FC, more than enough to fill another long weekend in fact and I just hope I get the opportunity to go back....
