...A cup of tea, a sandwich and a lunchtime sit down to watch an episode of Bargain Hunt. Although the programme centres around the contestants making a profit from their bargain hunting the emphasis is all on the two teams pitting their wits against one another. The programme starts with Tim Wonnacott introducing two eager teams, each team is made up of just two members and one team is given red sweatshirts and the other team blue sweatshirts. Each team is then assigned an expert in the world of antiques who will endeavor to help them find something in a local Antique Fair that they will purchase themselves and take to auction in the hope of making a profit.   Bargains For Your Home

Advantages: Can save you money on your normal shop
Disadvantages: You pick things up you wouldn't normally. Items change regularly.

...I've done a number of reviews on items that I've picked up cheaply from Home Bargains, so I thought why not do a review on the shop itself? Home Bargains is owned by a company called TJ Morris Ltd and the stores are currently popping up all over the country. I am lucky to have 2 different stores nearby which stock some of the same stuff and some different, so it does go to show that some different products are available at different stores. What things do they sell? You can pick up loads of different things off of your main shopping list in Home Bargains. It is not like a pound shop, which are normally just full of tat and the odd bargain. Home Bargains sell products that you would find in your local supermarket, just at a much lower price. What A Bargain

Advantages: Good fun
Disadvantages: Some of the contestants are know-it-alls

...Having won the award for best day time TV programme in the National Television Awards 2002 I felt a little comforted in knowing that I'm not alone in my addiction and enjoyment of this weird and wonderful show. If you'd told me 6 years ago that I'd be watching what is in effect an antiques show I'd have laughed. It recently opened its doors in Coalville in Leicestershire about 4 months ago and I now visit each week to check out the latest bargains. Home bargains are part of TJ Morris ltd and the stores are mainly based in the north but thank my lucky stars one has landed in Leicestershire! Woo Hoo! The store itself is bright, well laid out and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The range of products is fantastic they have everything from toiletries to toys to crisps and alcohol. For example I bought a tube of nivea soft moisturiser for 99p (RRP£1.99), an original mud mask cost me 59p(RRP £1.10). Take home a bargain today!

Advantages: lots of bargains to be had!
Disadvantages: stuff sells out quickly

...they all seem to have. There is plenty of room to move even if you have a buggy/pram or are in a wheelchair. The shops are always clean and staff reasonably helpful and friendly. Shelves are usually well stocked and there is always plenty of stuff available. Stock changes on a daily basis though and if you see something that you want get it while you are there as it may not be there tomorrow! They stock a wide range of things and all stores carry different stock. They stock things such as toys and games, videos, toiletries, food, kitchen and cookware, decorative items for the home, cleaning products, medicines, clothing, alcohol and seasonal stuff e.g. gardening, christmas stuff etc. A shop carrying that variety of stuff is all very well unless its a load of cheap rubbish - Thats where Home Bargains is different. There has been a Home Bargains Store in Sheffield where I live for a couple of years now, but it is only recently when the subject came up during a conversation with my Auntie in Blackpool that I realised they were part of a nation-wide chain. ...On the first aisle are Starbuys and haircare products. The second aisle has beauty products, medicines, baby care and clothing. The third aisle has stationary including books and dvd's. The fourth aisle has cleaning products and pet products. The fith aisle has food and the sixth aisle has sweets and pop. Above these aisles are 6 smaller aisles with homeware and toys on the back wall. Below the main aisles is the alcohol section and the tills.
