...In my opinion Barnsley are the top team in South Yorkshire. They have the ultimate skill of keeper Kevin Miller, one of Division Ones best shot stoppers. Striker Neil Shipperley has already scored 8 goals this season, so that just goes to show that Barnsley do have the skill, it?s just putting it in to practice week in week out. The only fault with the Reds is the diminishing number of spectators going to Oakwell, long gone are the days of premiership glory when 19,000 was a regular occurrence. Theglory grabbers have gone and we?re back to 12,000 when it comes to 3.00pm Saturday. If Barnsley are to make it back to the top then what they need is the support of the fans that once were....

Barnsley - int it Great!!

Advantages: Its just Proper good and mucky
Disadvantages: Nowt

...What a great ale this is from what is truely a great Yorkshire town. A pale brown beer, well balanced, with a dry and bitter finish. 3.8% abv. Cannon Hall Farm.... fab day out for all the family!

Advantages: Lots to do, reasonable prices, interaction with animals
Disadvantages: Roaming goats!

...What is Cannon Hall Farm? Cannon Hall Farm is a fully functioning, working farm set in the Pennine hills in Barnsley. It is an award winning farm, and offers a great day out for the family. It is situated adjacent to Cannon Hall - however having never been in here as they don't allow pushchairs, I am unable to review this. My review will be solely on Cannon Hall Farm. Access It is 10 minutes off Junction 37 on the M1. The farm is signposted, and once you have reached Cannon Hall there is a large car park there, or you can follow the signs to "open farm" to be parked near to the Farm. There are 100s of car parking spaces, and there are disabled car parking spots which are located near the entrance. ...Barnsley are a side which i dont actually support but a side i show a lot of interest in. They have a number of very interesting characters in their ranks and i back them to make the Premier League this season through the play offs especially if they can make the defence a bit more watertight! Theyve got big 'Arry' Bassett in charge and if anyones gonna take em up its gonna be him. Hes a top manager and deserves to be in the Premiership and i hope hes gonna get there with Barnsley. Cannon Hall, South Yorkshire

...I am often amazed just how many major attractions there are within my local area that I have yet to visit and until very recently Cannon Hall, near Barnsley in South Yorkshire was one such example of a place. Cannon Hall is a grand country mansion that is located on the edge of the picturesque village of Cawthorne. Cawthorne lies approximately seven kilometres to the east of Barnsley's town centre and is roughly halfway between junctions 37 and 38 of the M1 motorway. A bus that departs from the central interchange every 30 minutes serves Cawthorne if you are visiting by public transport, but it is then a good 10-15 minute walk from where the bus terminates to Cannon Hall itself. All the family will love this

Advantages: So much to do for everyone
Disadvantages: Can get very busy and cafe prices are slightly higher than your average

...Cannon Hall has so many things to do it is actually fun for all of the family. Cannon Hall is a beautiful country house in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, however not only does it have the house to visit there is also a large amount of outside area to explore including an open farm. The open farm is very well managed, having one door for entrance and one for exit makes life alot easier, especially when there are lots of children about. The prices are very resonable I can't remember exactly but it was definately less than £4 each and family tickets etc are available. Upon entry children get given a little bag of food (we got this free however I believe this is usually for a small cost), this is to feed the animals of their choice whilst they are exploring. They have a large variety of animals such as usual farms animals of Pigs, cows, Sheep...

Disadvantages: Little chance of staying in the top flight if they get back up there

Runners-up to the division title in 1997, which catapulted them into the top flight, only to be disappointly relegated again. They have, in their history, once won the FA cup, in 1912. Oh yeah..

Advantages: Do they?
Disadvantages: Care?

...Barnsley - oh dear oh dear. What have they done? They've only sold their best ever player to Blackburn - Craig Hignett (although he is injured) and are now getting off to their worst start in recent yearswith only 6 points from 5 games. But times will change this season and there's no doubt that Barnsley will pick up the points in a big way. so far they've managed 1 goal per game - last season it was something like 2 - double that. But i hope that they do OK as they've got a good side - a good boss and good support. But I can't see them picking up an automatic place in the Premiership next year. TOP 5 i think....

Enough to keep you going

Advantages: nice town, excellent academic support and pastoral system, range of alternative modern degree subjects, good studying services
Disadvantages: slow IT systems, poor accommodation, train services are bad, they shut the Union the heart of any HE institution!

I transferred onto the Medicine course at Sheffield University in the summer when I said I was willing to repeat my foundation science year (I didn’t do science Alevels). I was fully aware that I would have to repeat this year at Barnsley College. HOW TO GET THERE. By the time I was accepted in the summer, I had a nice house in Sheffield where I had already lived for one year. There was no way I could either afford another house in Barnsley or a car to get me there, so I investigated the transport links from the city to Barnsley.
