Advantages: Ideal for boy racers' stereo systems Disadvantages: Poor lyrics, repetitive......... all round rubbish
...?Gonna have to admit it ? I?m addicted to bass? (well at times)
Ever since my teenage years dance/trance and music that is described to be ?big in bass? has appeared at various times throughout my life. During the third year of senior school, just before the large Indie scene kicked off (remember the Blur V Oasis battle for supremacy along with many other top bands?), the only thing playing on my walkman was Dreamscape 19 Drum ?n? Bass. Whilst CDs were around back then the Dreamscape music was only available in cassette boxes consisting of many tapes and whilst the overall sound quality wasn?t that great the bass lines were kickin?.
Once the Indie scene appeared I followed suit, like every other ?sheep? in my year and my beloved DJ Dougal, and many other Dreamscape DJ?s were put on the shelf to collect dust. Whilst at college...
Advantages: Perfect for sporting or casual use. Disadvantages: None
...My guess is that 75% of the world's cyclists have never really paid much attention to their pedals.
So long as they spin round, push the crankset in the right direction, and give you somewhere to rest your feet, they are of little interest.
Remember your first bike? Maybe you do, but you could probably not tell me what the pedals were made of, what weight they were, how much they cost, what cleat system they used, or how easy they were to service.!!
However, as bikes have become more complicated, and folk have more money to spend on personalizing them, the pedals have attracted more attention.
Here is a good example - the Shimano A530 SPD's.

Advantages: Great fun Disadvantages: Very large to store and transport
...My family are all rather musical and we have acquired quite a collection of instruments over the years. For a significant anniversary I decided to buy a double bass. In his younger days my partner had played the electric bass in various bands and had always said one day he would like to have a double bass. Well now he has.
♫ ♫ What is a double bass? ♫ ♫
Well I suppose the short answer is that it looks like a giant violin, although it?s actually descended from an instrument called the viol. It dates as far back as the 16th century and is the largest and lowest sounding instrument in the string family of instruments. The other instruments in this family are the viola, the violin and the cello.
No one seems quite certain where the name comes from but one theory suggests it is because the double bass...

Review of Double Bass
Advantages: Bass Rich, Nice Lyrics, Well Produced Disadvantages: Not as Good as Classic Basshunter
...Dance to in a Night Club because the rhythm varies far too often. I?m by no means saying that the music here is bad; I?m simply arguing my case for the classification of the music and comparing the old Basshunter (Now You?re Gone) to the New Basshunter (Generation Bass).
Track Overview & Review
Although I feel that Basshunter has let himself go in the recent years and lost his unique edge which he became famous for, his music is still very good and each track offers something unique and worth listening too.
Every Morning ? This is the first track on the Album and in this is the track which is set to shape the first and most important impressions for the listener (first time listeners especially). Oddly enough the introduction to the track doesn?t represent any ?Dance? or ?Techno? elements but starts with an synthetic acoustic...
Advantages: A lot of effects in one unit. Good price Disadvantages: The Blue LED is a bit bright and can be distracting
...When you get bored of hearing your guitar making ordinary noises it is time to plug in an effects pedal. An effects pedal is a foot operated gizmo that you plug into the line between an instrument (usually a guitar) and the amplifier. Its purpose is to modify the signal from the instrument.
There is a huge range of pedals available, back in the 1970s I had two that are now considered to be classics, the Dunlop Crybaby Wah wah pedal and, I kid you not, a distortion pedal that gloried in the unlikely and slightly pervy name of The Big Muff Fuzz Box. Later on more advanced effects were available, with octavers, phase shifter and chorus heralding a range of modulating effects.
These range hugely in price but i have discovered the Behringer range of pedals which offer great quality at very fair prices. The FX600 is a multi...
Advantages: Can provide grip, can look good. Disadvantages: Can become loose, expensive.
...Momo now sell a wide range of fittings for sporting cars, and to be honest the Momo pedal kits are typical of the modern products. The equipment they sell nowadays, is in my opinion, mainly for show, and although it may look sporty, it does not actually do anything for the performance of the car,
The fact is, in some circumstances, these could be counter productive, as these pedal "covers" are actually mounted on top of the existing pedals. This means that in order to depress any pedal, you have to lift your foot an extra quarter of an inch, sorry to be pedantic but feel free to argue against me.
The pedal kit is made to look like aircraft grade aluminium, and to be quite honest I have no problem with the quality, they do feel good, and are certainly sturdy. I have never heard of one breaking, even in an accident, however, I have...
Advantages: Looks not at all bad. Disadvantages: Expense, need to be fitted correctly.
...Momo Pedal kit.
I have used these, and find them as good as some manufacturers original equipment i.e. the pedals the makers fitted. These actually fit over the originals, so are in exactly the same place, just slightly higher. This of course means you have to lift your foot that little extra, which I find ever so slightly less efficient than the ones the factory fitted.
The kit is advertised as the Porsche style, and for competition use, although I doubt they have ever been used in comptitive racing, and are only in the "style" of Porsche ones.
As for the fitting of them, I must say that it is easy, although I must stress that they have to be fitted correctly, otherwise they become a hazard. Properly fitted, they are perfectly safe.
Now for the looks, in my humble opinion, they look tacky, although that depends on your own...
Advantages: Good quality budget guitar Disadvantages: none really
...I have been hankering for a Bass guitar to fiddle with as a project and when I earned a few extra quid for a private job I started to browse eBay for a likely candidate.
I found a Yamaha RBX170 4 string bass on a pick up only deal in Ringwood, a place that I pass through regularly.
This bass retails between £120 - £150, putting it in the higher end of the beginners' market.
When I collected it, along with the 30 Watt amplifier which I got with it for a very reasonable £73, it was a bit grubby and looked as though it had been used for serving pizza. There were several torn and grubby stickers on it and I feared that I had bought a pup.
I got it home and plugged it in. The first thing I noticed was the weight, for a full scale bass guitar it is very light, I can hold it out at arm's length with ease.
The range of tones is...
Advantages: They're beautiful. Disadvantages: You'll cry if you have to sell it.
...It's difficult to buy a double bass in the simple way you might buy a good quality electric guitar or electric bass . For a guitar you can sort of decide if you're Fender, Gibson, Gretsch etc type of person by seeing what you're favourite players use on the telly and then trying them out in any good guitar store. But for the double bass we're in different territory all together and different rules apply.
If you try out the bass in a store or room that is stuffed with other double basses or even other wooden acoustic instruments its going to resonate a little in each of those instruments and lead you into believing you have a lovely sounding bass when you probably haven't.
Some spaces can make an unamplified double bass sound great. I like to play mine on the lower landing of my stairwell - always sounded beautiful there. If you...

Review of Double Bass
Advantages: Great Value for money, Solidly built, Disadvantages: battery access is a bit fiddly
...Oh my God, I here you say, not another effects pedal review. Don't worry, there's only one more to go in my collection.
As with the other pedals this one has a solid plastic moulding with a slightly awkward to open battery compartment, accessed by pushing in the pedal hinge pins and lifting it off. Much better to use an external power supply, it saves money and broken fingernails.
So what does a Chorus pedal do?
Well it sits in the line between the guitar and amplifier and alters the signal. Basically it is a modulating effect which adds a slight highlight and a lowlight, to create a softened, even slightly ethereal tone to the sound.
There are four controls that allow you to adjust the effect, Level, Tone, Rate and Depth, an input jack and two outputs so that you can use two amplifiers to create stereo effects. The controls...
