Uniross AA rechargable batteries

Advantages: Easy to charge, long-life
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...I first came across this brand when I needed batteries more suited to my camera than ordinary, non-rechargeable AA batteries (as mentioned in my previous review). They were recommended to me by the cashier as reliable and perfect for what I needed them for, as they're good for longevity. I thought maybe these were the most expensive and that's why they were recommended, but they were about £25 for 4, which was cheaper than some other brands of the same description on display. I have since looked online and found both the batteries and the charger I use for a cheaper price, try amazon.co.uk and dell.com. The first time I used them, they lasted a good couple of weeks, alternating use between my camera and CD player. They proved especially useful in my old CD player, which usually stops mid-song, and I'll have to re-adjust the batteries...

Energizer AA 2500 mAh Rechargeable Batteries

Advantages: Long Life

...Hi today I will be reviewing Energizer AA 2500 mAh Rechargeable Batteries. Price You can buy these from Amazon for cheapest £7.05 I got them for £10 from B&Q and I got a charger as well. Life I recommend fully charging these for first time use. I put them on for a day. From the full charge I managed to get a week use out of them. I use them in my Xbox 360 Controllers which are used by me and my brothers so they were on for most of the week. Charge While using the official charger for this product it takes around 6 hours to charge fully (Overnight). Size I find that these batteries are a little larger than the usual AA batteries because in my Xbox controller when I first got them in they took quite a lot of force to get them out again. Uniross 1 Hour AA and AAA battery charger

Advantages: Easy to use with built in intelligent system

...Having had a previous Uniross charger for several years which had provided a stirling service until it was dropped and broken, I wanted to stay with a manufacturer I knew and felt comfortable with. After hunting down several models I narrowed it down to this 1 hour charger (model no. AAB04541-3) which charges both AA and AAA batteries, either two or four at a tiime. It will also charge either Ni-MH or Ni-Cd batteries. It comes with a mains plug charger adaptor (100-240v) and a lead for plugging into your car cigar lighter socket. The Uniross 1 Hr Charger also has a built in intelligent charger system to save over loading the batteries which is a useful feature when one may tend to walk off and forget you have left some batteries charging. The lovely Mr AA man.

Advantages: quick response, good customer service, good communcation, fix a lot of breakdowns
Disadvantages: some of the deals are quite expensive

...The AA pride themselves on being the UK's "number one breakdown provider". They provide a 24 hour recovery service for their members and there are different levels of cover available. Another claim made by the AA is that they "fix more breakdowns by the roadside than anyone else". I have never bothered with breakdown cover until I moved back home from university with the intention of commuting each day. I realised that if I were to break down on the hour drive to brighton there would probably be no one willing to come and rescue me!! On top of this my brothers car had broken down several times in the country lanes locally and I decided that it was a sign for me to start being sensible! the intelligent battery charger.

Advantages: Cheap, reliable, long lasting, reasonable price.
Disadvantages: Still gets warm. Plastic plug = breakable?

...---THE PRODUCT--- Definately glad to be an owner of one of these chargers, even though they seem quite pricey, the batteries are great as they are reusable, and you don't waste money on purchasing darn AA batteries, again and again. It's easy to use, don't take hours to charge like the previous models which took around 8 hours and meant that you had to leave it on over night, worrying that it would heat up and catch the house on fire. I wouldn't be without this, endlessly purchasing batteries for items. Furthermore you can't use ordinary batteries in Digital Camera's as they are drained after you've took three photo's with the flash on. Ansmann MAXe Rechargeable Batteries

Advantages: ALWAYS ready for use.
Disadvantages: None.

...isn't what I call 'satisfactory' performance. Then?.. well, then, I discovered Ansmann MAXe AA Mignon NiMH 'hybrid' batteries. Wow! What a difference. They come already charged, just like ordinary 'non' rechargeable batteries, so you can used them straight out of the packing. When they become exhausted through use, you pop them into any normal NiMH charger and once charged, they will HOLD THEIR ENERGY for so much longer. You can charge a set of these batteries and without use, they will still retain up to around 75% to 80% of their charge a YEAR later, losing only around 2% of their charge per month. Energizer Ultra Plus Batteries (AA size)

Advantages: Relatively cheap
Disadvantages: no power testers on these unlike Duracell

...CD players remotes electronic games. The ultra range is completely alkaline and does not contain any harmful mercury. You can therefore dispose of the batteries with the usual household waste. The AA batteries produce 1.5 volts of power each and have a 6 year life expectancy Unfortunately unlike Duracell they don't come with battery testers on the side of each battery. Just before moving on, my conversation with the remote AA representative proved to be of significance later. She asked me as to the nature of the problem, and on replying that it was 'a clutch problem', she also asked if the pedal had 'gone to the floor' to which I replied in the affirmative. After a brief investigation the patrolman announced that the problem was a broken clutch ratchet and that there was no conceivable roadside repair. Mentioning the antecedents, being unconvinced but also aware that that when this was renewed the clutch and plate were similarly replaced, the reply received was that it is a known problem.
