I have owned Digital SLR cameras where such batteries would not provide more than 44 exposures - and this, without using flash! In reality, with certain devices, I have found them to be almost completely useless. At first, I thought it might be down to a faulty battery charger, so I exchanged it for another. Still no better! I then exchanged this one for a more expensive one and at the same time also exchanged the batteries (2 sets, both different makes). Still the performance was pathetic. Uniross AA rechargable batteries

Advantages: Easy to charge, long-life

...to make it work again - these seemed to remedy this. To re-charge the batteries, I use a Uniross Ni-Cd & Ni MH battery charger that I purchased by recommendation at the same time as the batteries. It takes about 4-5 hours for batteries to fully charge, which isn't bad considering they then last for weeks. The batteries can be charged up to 1,000 times. After the success of the AA batteries, we now use primarily all Uniross batteries to control our battery-fuelled appliances, including Uniross AAA batteries for our television, VCR and DVD remote controls, which last about 6 months. Good battery charger for it's price

Advantages: Charges quickly, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Doesn't feel too strong... Not much of a problem.

Most battery chargers cost a lot more than this one did (I bought this one for about £12, from Amazon), so it was good to get a deal on it. The package includes the charger itself, 4 AA batteries and a car adapter, so you can charge your batteries in the car. The batteries are easy to insert, there are two spring-loaded extensions that spring out. These are so you can charge AAA batteries as well, and they fold away when you're charging AA batteries. This was on offer at my local supermarket for £8.50 including 4 2350 mAh AA batteries. AA are the only sorth that I am interested in so I picked one up. The Unit The unit itself is a fairly unobtrusive size being just over twice as tall as an AA battery, just over the width of 4 and about 2 inches deep. On the front of the unit is a switch to be set to either high or normal capacity batteries and a red and green LED to indicate charging and charged. Uniross 1 Hour AA and AAA battery charger

...Having had a previous Uniross charger for several years which had provided a stirling service until it was dropped and broken, I wanted to stay with a manufacturer I knew and felt comfortable with. After hunting down several models I narrowed it down to this 1 hour charger (model no. AAB04541-3) which charges both AA and AAA batteries, either two or four at a tiime. ...The Uniross x-press 300 is a good charger which supports a range of different battery sizes. I bought this charger last year because I bought a wireless mouse and keyboard so made more sense getting rechargeable batteries rather than spending money on normal batteries every few weeks. I went with Uniross as they make decent rechargeable batteries and are well known for it. This x-press 300 charges AAA, AA & 9V size batteries. It lets you charge 2 or 4 AA/AAA and one 9V batteries of the same type at the same time. It's suitable for AA, AAA and 9V (PP3) NiCd and NiH batteries. To use AAA batteries you simply flip down a little holder within the charger and it will hold the AAA batteries to charge. Experiment with Batteries

Advantages: Good for low power items
Disadvantages: Don't last as long as Duracell

...I rarely buy Energizer batteries; although they are cheaper than Duracell they don't last as long. I put four AA Energizers into my digital camera and took 100 pictures and then downloaded them. I then did the same with Duracells and found that the Energizers were almost dead but the Duracells were only about half depleted. Duracells can be recharged, somewhat, in an appropriate charger (packaging says they can't); Energisers can?t. On Ebay a 4-pack of AA Energizer E2 cost £4.69, but Duracell Plus cost £4.99 but for 30p less money you'll get 40-50% less usage. Recommendation: Use Energizer batteries only in things like clocks and remote control units, but buy Duracells for things like digital cameras and CD players. ...down on the table next to you, and watch the green light come on. This indicates it's charging, and once it turns red, it means that the batteries are fully charged. It's a shame there isn't an automatic shut off at this point, as it is quite easy to stick the batteries on charge and then forget about them. If you do this, then the batteries can overheat, damaging them and being dangerous if left too long. Just remember you have to use rechargeable batteries only! If you try to recharge regular batteries, it will not work and is very dangerous. However, it does what it says on the tin, and charges the batteries in 3 hours. It took me a day to charge all the rechargeable batteries I have at work, whereas normally it would take me days, and I still wouldn't be sure they had been successfully charged.
