Baumatic Chimney Hood
Review of Baumatic BT 6.3 GL by
drcn
Advantages: Flexibility of flue lengths, design and build quality.
Disadvantages: None
...This is a good bit of kit, I was looking for a hood of curved glass design that had a short flue option, unless you live in London or a mansion with high ceilings you tend to have to cut these things to size, with the baumatic I could accommodate the minimum distance from hob to hood that you require. When the flue is not extended with the flue extension piece it achieves 540mm, this is a perfect height for my kitchen, and this way I didn't have to take the saw to it.
The hood looks stunning in brushed steel with the curved glass sparkling from the reflection of the two 20 Watt lights fitted below. The controls are electronic easy touch type that control the three fan speeds and the lights.
A vent kit was supplied to vent to atmosphere, I am running mine on recirc with the carbon filters fitted, it takes two filters (not supplied...

Very Stylish at Half the Price of The Competitors
Review of Baumatic TON9SS Cooker Hoods - Chimney by
doctorzeb
Advantages: Good Performance, Low Cost
Disadvantages: Ackward To Install
...My Wife and I bought this over the internet to match our new Baumatic Cooker. The service was just as impressive. After ordering it on the wedneday, it arrived on the Friday, and was installed on the Saturday,....sunday.....Monday, (my fault).
It looks great, has 4 good fan settings, plus two excellent 12V halogen lights.
The fan itself is very powereful, but (from personal experience) should be vented, (this is where the air it taken outside). The carbon pads do work well, but it takes a little longer to rid the kitchen of the smoke after I've been cooking, (this is where the air is kept in the kitchen but circulated through Carbon filters in the hood).
Overall this seems to be like most baumatic appliances. It could be made out of thicker stainless, and have the edges a little tidier so-to-speak, but it is cheap. Considering...

father christmas is not coming down this chimney
Review of Baumatic QF6 Cooker Hoods - Chimney by
getscenic
Advantages: clean simple lines, good price
Disadvantages: none so far
...The world of cooker hoods can be a confusing and frustrating place to be. The choice is endless and the price you can pay is verging on the ridiculous.
So what type of hood and how much to pay to complete my purchase of kitchen appliances?
The brief from Mrs Scenic was a chimney hood. I did try to steer her toward the flat rear vented type, but she was having none of it. Now with chimney hoods you can pay anything up to £300 and on for the more expensive makes. Luckily I was in charge of the budget and anything over £150 was out of the running, so I was very pleased to see this Baumatic in the Homebase catalogue for £99.99. After playing around with kitchen unit combinations for about 2 hours I just tacked this hood onto the list and thought "job done".
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, if I had checked the spec's of the hoods I...

You Beauty!!
Review of Baumatic BT82.1GL by
micheleywelley
Advantages: It's beautiful!!!
Disadvantages: Glass is difficult to clean
...I decided to buy a Baumatic hood to match my hob. I had originally decided on just a plain stainless steel one as anything else seemed too expensive. Then I found one for sale for £298 and decided I would have to have it!
Lookswise it cant really be beat, the 'chimney' part is softly curved at the edges with the Baumatic name indented into it. the glass that curves over the hob makes the extractor seem less obtrusive than the fully stainless steel models. the filter part is simple with five plain buttons at the front, one for turning the fan on, three for the levels of extraction and another for the two halogen lights situated between the two extraction grilles. If you like simplictity and fine lines, it really is a beautiful piece of kitchen equipment.
It worked perfectly for the first few days, but then it started blowing fuses...

Baumatic B24, The Agony and the Ectasy
Review of Baumatic B24 by
DerekTighe
Advantages: Induction is a great technology, safe, clean, fast
Disadvantages: Worked for less than 3 months, no warranty in Ireland.
...This was my first foray into Induction Hobs.
We were very impressed with the speed and particularly with the fine control of heating this technology gives.
Everything that can be simmered, boiled or fried in a metal pot, worked a dream.
The fact that the hob never gets too hot, makes for very tidy cooking and easy cleaning.
The touch controls are great, no more plucking off dirty control knobs.
Just remember if the hob is wet or geasy the controls stop working, just give the hob a quick clean with one of those super cloths and hay presto.
There was a slightly annoying clicking noise on the lower power settings, but it fades into the backround of a busy kitchen.
The BAD NEWS:
The Baumatic B24 worked flawlessly for 12 weeks,
then the main ring failed.
then the residual heat "h" display started flickering
then the cooling fan would...

Very smart extractor canopy
Review of Baumatic BT 6.3 GL by
derryl1
Advantages: Noise level; Stylish looks; Easy to maintain
Disadvantages: None to report
...This is a very stylish bit of kit from Baumatic. It was easy to install, and the flue extender should accommodate most ceiling heights. Our kitchen guy even commented that this is one of the more straightforward installs he has had to do, even when we requested it be set against the stainless steel splashback we had bought.
The controls are very easy to use, and with its 2 x 20w halogen lights on at night, it looks very smart indeed. The glass plinth really contrasts well with the s/steel flue and canopy, although fingermarks on the latter require judicious rubbing with a cloth. The tangential fan is not overly noisy even when on max extraction. Maintenance and replacement of bulbs and filters is straightforward and for the price, this machine appears hard to beat - we paid £115 incl delivery....

Superb online/phone shopping experience
Review of Wickedsavings.com by
LeeWHill
Advantages: Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable customer service. Great price and very quick delivery
Disadvantages: (very minor:) Door to door delivery only
...I was looking for a specific induction hob (De Dietrich DTI309X) and any reasonably priced island hood. After extensive research, Wickedsavings came out as the cheapest site for the hob, but was about £40 dearer on the hood I liked, the Baumatic ISL5SS. I therefore decided to phone to see if they could do any kind of deal if I bought both from them, and to check stock levels on each item.
I got through within about thirty seconds, and spoke to an extremely courteous chap, Toby (hope it's ok to mention his name!) who confirmed that the hob was in stock. He was not sure about the stock levels of the hood, since it was a new item, but told me that they did have another hood in stock, which was in fact the previous version of the ISL5SS (the BT9.1GL) which was almost identical, and slightly cheaper. He talked me through the differences...

Brilliant For The Price
Review of Baumatic BT2750 by
doctorzeb
Advantages: Cheap, Excellent Service, Perfoms brilliantly
Disadvantages: Knobs Heat Up slightly
...After 3 months of living out of George Foreman Grill and a micorwave, in our newly aquired derelict house. We finally finnished our kitchen. It was the 30th December and we had 10 people coming to stay for new year.
We ordered our Baumatic over the internet after searching for months. We had been told to expect to pay anywhere from £1500 - £3000 for a double oven range cooker... Then we found baumatic.
It is not the sturdiest appliance, and yes it has been made "on the cheap", but what can you expect for £850.00. Unless you are running a restaurant, or entertaining every night, this very stylish range cooker seem to do just fine.
The small single oven has a rotisserie, which works brilliantly. Just make sure you tie the chicken legs or they tend to spring out and stop it from turning.
The gas hob is fantastic, with a fish...

Wobbly about Baumatic
Review of Baumatic BDW13 by
susiepip
Advantages: Easy to operate; reasonable amount of space for dishes
Disadvantages: You can probably find a better dishwasher in this price range!
...Why I'm writing about this product:
Last August my husband had to find somewhere to live so that he could be nearer his job and we found a small flat which, before he moved in, was going to have installed a brand new kitchen fitted with Baumatic appliances - dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washing machine (the oven, for some reason is a bosch).
We had absolutely no choice about appliance brand or models, but as we had got such a good deal on the flat, we went along with what the builders stipulated for the whole of the development (I had seen Baumatic products advertised in 'House & Garden' magazine so its not as if I hadn't heard of them before, but didn't know anyone who'd actually got one of these appliances).
I had a look on the Baumatic website, which has a glamorous 'life style' feel to it.
It scores reasonably well on energy...

Disappointing
Review of Baumatic Megawdss by
member123
Advantages: Cheaper than other stainless steel models
Disadvantages: Very noisy spinner
...I bought this machine for its stainless steel good looks. While its appearance does not disappoint, I cannot say the same for its performance and user-friendliness. The worst thing is the noise it makes on its spin cycle. If you live in a flat and you want to remain on speaking terms with your neighbours, choose another machine.
It's a fiddly machine to use. Unlike, for example, a Zanussi, which can be totally controlled with buttons, the Baumatic combines buttons with dials. Unless the washing dial is set precisely -and this is not as easy as it sounds - the machine won't work. Another annoyance is always having to remember to depress the half-load button for the drying cycle. During the drying cycle the machine makes funny grinding noises for no apparent reason. The word that comes to mind is 'clunky'. I would...
