Before leaving home, I develop a list of friends and family to receive postcards, with multiples for our children and parents. I print sheets of address labels and tuck them into our road atlas, then buy postcards here and there along the way. When all the labels are gone, postcard duty is over. For your consideration in this regard, I offer my own "recipe" for BawBaw's Bountiful Baked Beans--good for cookouts, church socials, tailgate parties, and (according to a handful of my British friends) breakfast. First a caveat: What I offer here is more a process than a "recipe." I make what one friend describes as a "baked bean salad," and like most salads, it varies according to what is available in my kitchen. Disaster from start to finish

Advantages: Nil
Disadvantages: Extremely Poor Customer Service

...Taking a short break with BAW we flew from Aberdeen to Heathrow and then from Gatwick onto Montreal staying for four nites and then coming back. We were assured that our luggage would follow us on and not to worry when I questioned the staff at Aberdeen. Suprise suprise we arrived in Montreal and no luggage. They then insisted on us trapsing into the city to their office and collecting compensation to allow us to buy some emergency bits and pieces, we received a grand total of £42 each. The luggage eventually turned up 48 hours later, with just one day left on the holiday. No-one seemd to be particularly concerned or interested whilst we were ringing up trying to get updates and vertainly no-one was prepared to take responsibility. We travelled home with some trepidation which turned out to be fully justified, after a four hour delay...

  21st Century Air Travel, 19th Century Attitude

Advantages: Very good new product for intercontinental flights, good service to premium passengers, nice lounges.
Disadvantages: Terrible meals, small seat pitch in Economy, rather unfriendly staff in Economy, outdated service philosophy, wrong strategies.
