...Update: 10 Novemeber 2001: Well, it's not a Jarvis anymore. It's been a 'Ramada Jarvis' for a few months now. I don't know if this makes a huge change to the basics but there's a new decor outside - new paint and shiny new signs. It's still a big hotel on the Bayswater Road and they do still send me discount e-mails for weekend breaks. I'm too skint at the moment to do an investigation for Ciao! :-) I have wondered what the big hotels that line the Bayswater Road are like for a long time. I used to live in Bayswater a few years ago and therefore had no need of them. Cheap and cheerful stay in the capital.

Advantages: quiet, cheap, clean
Disadvantages: no frills, bread and jam for breakfast!!

...go home early. ***Location*** This hotel is situated a couple of minutes walk from the Bayswater tube station, Queensway being about four minutes. These stations serve District, Circle and Queensway also serves the Central lines. The hotel is situated on a quite square with a mixture of private residence and hotels around. There was on street parking and altough there were spaces to be had I can imagine at peak times it would be hard to get a space. Kensington palace and gardens is a three minute walk away near to entrance for the Diana memorial playground and Elfin tree. Marble arch and Nottinghill are also nearby, but with the easy access to the tube nearly everything i needed to get to was painless and most importantly quick to get to. I found this hotel ideal for us as we could pop back and forth on all main tube lines...

...After using this 'restaurant? for my 16th birthday I was very disappointed by the service and by how I was treated as a customer. The location The location of this restaurant is arguably great. It is close to Whiteleys shopping centre and also in walking distance of the tube station Bayswater and is close to the bus stop. It is a very large space and the distance between the tables is adequate to allow privacy without separation from the whole restaurant. Menu Again this aspect of the restaurant is very good. The meals are very big in size and are value for money. The set menus are also very cheap; £10 for either a starter and min, or main and dessert. Quality Food selections and best customer service

...I work for waitrose bayswater branch. The shop layout is exquisite, perfect and nicely laid out products in all the various sections. This branch was opened very recently on 29th May, 2008. The regular inflow of customers is not that much as expected, although it is too early to say , as its a new branch, and again there has been a road blockage since last year, hence many customers do not know about it. The staff is very co-operative and helpful as usual and as per our waitrose standards and policies. The fresh fish and meat counter is worth to be visited and surely an instant buy of various selections, displayed neatly for perfect cooking deals for the customers. Home Base for Traveling with a Grandchild

Fantastic Stay

Advantages: Location, Staff, Cleanliness
Disadvantages: Size of the rooms, Size of the bathrooms

...stood up from the loo you didn't have to move to wash your hands. They provided you with fresh towels and a bath mat every day if so required otherwise they ask you to use them as long as possible to help on enviromental costs with washing and things. They also supplied soap, shampoo and shower gel. The hotel is in a excellent location being a matter of seconds away from Bayswater Station. The main highstreet of bayswater is one street along and has many shops, pubs and restaurnts. The tube does run straight under the hotel, but we were staying on the 3rd floor so i did not here this and it did not effect my sleep. Overall the stay was fantastic and i would gladly use the hotel again although if i were to go with some one else again i would ask for a larger room....

Advantages: It's covered in case it rains, nice range of shops and restaurants, not expensive!
Disadvantages: Quite a small centre, limited stores for men

...Whiteley's Whiteley's is a good sized shopping centre located in Bayswater in West London. The centre is actually on the Queensway strip and is handily in-between the Queensway and Bayswater underground stations! The Womens Shops ******************** You will find a variety of womens clothing stores spread out over the three floors. These include Oasis, Accessorize, Zara, Karen Millen, Nine West and La Senza (and a few more!) The stores themselves are all a normal size, none of them being particular large. The Oasis store in particular (to me anyway!) seems to be a bit small in comparison to its other stores and appears to stock less of a range. ...Whitelys is a large shopping centre in Bayswater, which is on the District and Circle lines in West London. The development has a very friendly atmosphere and many general meeting points, such as a fountain. The shops are mainly books and clothes. There is a Books etc, some clothes shops and other things such as a gadget shop and stationery shop. An internet cafe on the second floor is also useful. In the way of eating, there is a McDonalds, a more upmarket cafe, and the internet cafe. So not a great deal, but there are some restaurants outside the development. Another thing which makes many people come here is the cinema, UCI Whitelys. This is quite large, but the prices are high (£7.50 at peak times).
