Attracting yet more star names, while wisely moving the narrative on, the second series of Extras really finds the show maturing nicely, and unsurprisingly, cleaned up more awards in the process.That said, it remains a far more divisive programme than its forerunner, The Office. Written by, directed and featuring Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, its appeal is more concentrated and less broad, following Andy Millman on his progression from background artist to his own TV show. At times, for a programme frequently billed as a comedy, theres a melancholy tone, although thats not to say it doesnt deliver its fair share of laughs in the process.Many of those laughs are oiled by the seemingly never-ending conveyor belt of big names who take part in the show. Extrass first season attracted the likes of Kate Winslet and Samuel L Jackson, but this time, the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Sir Ian McKellen and David Bowie are quick to join in. Theres, er, Barry from EastEnders, too, who adds to the fun. And fun is, ultimately, what Extras serves up, albeit laced with a depth and occasional bout on introspectiveness. As with the first season, its Ashley Jensen who steals the show from underneath Extras cavalcade of star names, with a terrific portrayal of Maggie Jacobs. Yet this second series feels and is superior to the first, and already, its creators have announced that theyre putting the brakes on the show, save for one final special to sign off with. And itll be sad when it all ends. For while Extras takes a little time to get to love, its likely to be held in similar regard to the aforementioned The Office in the years to come. --Jon Foster ... less

The first series of Gavin and Stacey brought the show richly-deserved BAFTA recognition, and left the two title characters married by the time it came to an end. Series two picks things up from there, as they settle into married life, and the challenges that ultimately brings. Never forgetting its comedic roots, Gavin and Stacey now follows the pair, and the collection of characters around them, as they adjust to married life. It doesnt take, for instance, for Staceys homesickness to kick in, while the programme also takes time to spend time with their friends, Nessa and Smithy, as they too evaluate their relationship (and impending baby!). In lesser hands, Gavin and Staceys ingredients could easily go sour. But thanks to some terrific scripting, and quite exceptional performances, it gels superbly well. Much of the credit should go, of course, to Mathew Home and Joanna Pages endearing performances in the title roles, as well as James Corden and Ruth Jones for their exceptional writing work (the pair also play the aforementioned Nessa and Smithy in the show). Eschewing gimmicks and cheap lines in favour of three dimensional characters and genuine laughs, Gavin and Stacey is a television gem, and one that deserves to find a wider audience. Another great comedy on BBC2
Advantages: Original, subtle, excellent acting
Disadvantages: Perhaps too subtle for some who may prefer the more 'funny-ha-ha' comedies

This new BBC2 series of short 10 minute programmes harnesses the talent of Steve 'Alan' Coogan and Henry '?' Normal as producers along with an excellent lead man. Leading who is not clear as he is in fact the only actor to appear throughout.
The whole thing is set inside the car of this one bloke who's just got divorced from his wife, Marion. The filming...

BBC2-with variety
Advantages: Variety of programmes
Disadvantages: Easily filled in with old stuff
...Dwarf (old but a favourite). Other programmes such as the League of Gentlemen, the Fast Show and Stella Street show that BBC2 is responsible for broadcasting some of the best comedy programmes around. If it had 'Friends' there would not be much competition!
The variety is good, suits everybody at some time, but is sometimes easily filled in with repeats and old films....

...hbours. This family are law abiding and Christian’s. Ned is always willing to help Homer.
Krusty the clown drinks a lot and it just not a funny clown.
Main characters in this Cartoon are Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Mr Burns, Moe, Principal Skinner, Ned and Apu.
This Cartoon is not just for kids as the humour is far beyond that of a kid.
