Stoves 61GDO

Advantages: Dual oven, easy to clean
Disadvantages: Gas cut off re-instates

...I have owned my cooker for 2 years. It has a number of features that I really like and a few things that I would change. The thing I found most impressive was that despite being a gas cooker it has both semi automatic and automatic cooking mode. The semi auto allows you to set an end time for the main oven. This is a feature that my old cooker had but it also has the additional bonus of being able to set both the start and finish time whch I did not realise could be done with gas. The setup instructions are a little complex though. I rarely use the top oven as it takes quite a while to get to temperature. It's main function for me is the grill which has varying heights but you cannot vary the heat. The design fault on the grill for me is that you cannot use it with the door shut. Review of Stoves 61GDO

Pioneer DVR-LX61D - Don't be caught out by this one!

Advantages: well-built, good enough picture and sound quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: Ethernet on VISTA only (not on XP), rather expensive for what it is

...might be best because transferring DIVX movies to LX61D via Ethernet takes ages. Whereas USB transfers go much, much quicker. The only downside is not having LX61D available to all PCs on the LAN - which is why I bought the unit in the first place. Otherwise LX61D seems a good enough machine, if slightly overpriced. While the Ethernet facility functions okay using VISTA, I'd probably have been better buying a Panasonic DMR-EX78. That would certainly have been a much cheaper and, according to some, wiser choice. Then again, unless you know different, there isn't another HDD/DVD recorder on the market right now that offers an Ethernet connection....

Lenovo Z61m

Advantages: Good for media work, WideScreen quality Graphics.
Disadvantages: Lenovo suck... totally.... This computer can only be used in air-conditioning.

I find when not in my lap I have to "stand on its side" to allow the heat to radiate properly as it cannot be left on normal everyday surfaces in its normal position unless in air-conditioning, where it works quite well. The microphone is very very poor .. veering on defective and recordings made are abysmal even when a good quality mike is plugged in. The batteries on this range of computers were largely faulty however only a number were subject to a recall. I acquired my z61m from a batch-buy of these machines along with other colleagues. Amongst all of us only two have original batteries which are still operational. The Lenovo site's recall service is based on the serial number of the batteries. The picture quality is amazing although when you transfer the image from your camera to your computer the images are quite big in size, although the bigger the size the better quality it should be.
