Beach Sports - Not so Big

...Wii Big Beach Sports game?. The Wii Big Beach Sports was one of two games that were included in the package when we purchased the Wii console from Argos. Usually you would be looking at paying around £15 for the game new but I expect you can pick it up for a much cheaper amount second hand. We chose the Beach Sports game as one of our included games because it seemed like you were getting more games for your money. The game itself has six different types of games to choose from and these are volleyball, Disc Golf, Cricket, Boules, Football and American football. The game mode has options where you can either play on your own in a tournament or include other people and play against them (this second option allows you to play against up to 4 people). Beach Sports WII

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: not very entertaining

...Distinctly average Wii Sports copy- the games are very basic control wise indeed and while they are ok in multi player they are pretty annoying in single player mode, especially the team games (american football, volleyball and 'proper' football) where the computer AI moves your players somewhat irratically around for you. The bizarre only 2 a side (???) American football is especially weak. Still, there's nothing wrong with a multiplayer boules or disc golf tournament every now and then - the cricket is a hoot too. Volleyball matches can seemingly go on forever due to the lack of pace in the game, although the bump set spike actions for the remote are pretty sound. But its' still ok if you are looking for something cheap for your kids....

Big Beach Sports? Big disappointment

Advantages: Easy to understand.
Disadvantages: A little repeatative and dull

...This is my first review so please bare with me. Me and my partner brought this game about a week ago from our local gamestation. First impressions of the game was that it was a little basic. The amount of control that you have over the players in the various games are limited. Saying this, a couple of the games, especially the beach football did entertain me for a number of matches before I got a little bored of the repeatative moves. I guessing that this is an american game which has been re-packaged for the British market as the beach football is called beach soccer and there is a golf like game where you throw a frisbe at a target (similar to the golf game on wii sports). If you are thinking of buying this game for the younger person then it could keep them busy for an hour or so before they will want to try something else...

A Wii Sports clone that's not as good

Advantages: Extends the concept of Wii sports to a few new games. Cricket and Volleyball aren't bad.
Disadvantages: Most of the games are either poorly executed or similar to the ones in Wii Sports.

...If you've played Wii Sports to death and are looking for some more fun party games this might seem attractive; perhaps you're a fan of, say, cricket or volleyball and want to see it get the same treatment? Big Beach Sports might just be worth a look for you. It's largely got the same strengths as its precursor too; the games are simple to pick up and controlled by gestures from the Wii-mote allowing you to act out your sporting prowess in the same sort of ridiculous fashion for any onlookers present. (Experienced players will, of course, have figured out that you can get by with small gestures rather than have to act everything out, but I reckon that spoils the fun, myself.) Big Beach Fun

Disadvantages: Won't amuse you for longer than a few months

You fling the Frisbee towards the metal basket sometimes having to go round corners or avoiding water, trees, buildings and each basket has a par - usually par 3 or 4. The wind can effect where the Frisbee goes so look out for it. This is an easy to pick up fun game for all the family and doesn't wreck your muscles as much as cricket but when we were scoring birdies and eagles on our first round we thought it could maybe have been a little tougher. Conclusion The team games in Big Beach Sports are good fun with family or friends and should offer many hours of playing, fighting, shouting and general humiliation for all. Recommendation - If you can get this for £12.99 or less its well worth it...

Big Beach - Big Flop

Advantages: Cricket game is good
Disadvantages: Too basic and no technique required.

...I bought Big Beach Sports on impulse and also because it has a cricket game on it. In total there are 6 sports: cricket, voleyball, frisbee, football, american football and boules. Apart from the cricket, I've only played each sport a few times mainly due to some of them being pointless and either too difficult or too easy. The football, for example doesn't seem to have any skill factor or exercise potential either as do none of the games. The cricket game is very basic and is automated runs and usually you do not get run out because the team players move too slowly. There is some technique when batting and bowling, but on the whole it is a very basic game. This may be a good game for kids, but is no replacement for wii sports or wii fit. On a positive note, you can usually get this game for a reasonable price....

Enjoy 12 different sports on a tropical island!

Advantages: Great array of games, multi players, long playability
Disadvantages: None

...a frisbee at a target and collecting points but if you like repetitive games where you can improve your score each time then this game is for you. It has two different mini games you can play, Frisbee Dog and Frisbee Golf. Frisbee Dog involves you throwing a frisbee on a beach and getting your cute little dog to catch it. The closer they catch it to the target the more points you get. Frisbee golf is much like regular golf except that instead of hitting a ball towards the flag you are throwing a frisbee. It is probably a little bit easier than regular golf but still fun. The golf game and the bowling game are both very similar to the games on Wii Sports but in my opinion they are a little bit more sensitive and you do need to be more accurate to get a good score. I really like this game and the playability I think will last for quite a while...
