...I purchased my first pair of GHD hair straighteners back in 2000 when they first hit the UK market. With my hair being so thick and unmanageable I decided on the chunky salon size straighteners for a bit of extra money. These were possibly the best purchase I have ever made as they have actually made my hair healthier than it has ever been before. Gone are the days of wiry, frizzy hair - hello sleek and tamed tresses. With their extra large plates they cover more hair in one swoop than your average straightener and there is no need to repeat hair which has already been blitzed. Hair actually stays straight in humid conditions and GHD are also very good with their customer care, as after 8 years my straighteners unfortunately went on fire in my hand - this was resolved in a matter of minutes with GHD and a brand new pair were soon...

Beauty Flash Bum!

Advantages: None that I can think of
Disadvantages: Expensive and over-rated

...I was given a tube of this 'wonder cream' as a Christmas present from my in-laws just last Christmas. It sat inside my dressing table drawer until about three weeks ago, still in its original box/packaging etc, unused. I don't know why it's taken me so long to open the box and read the 'instructions leaflet' and actually use the stuff - maybe I was having a 'premonition' about it?? I have to say, Clairins Beauty Flash Balm, or, as it states in the French (also on the packaging/tube) "Baume Beaute Eclair" has been probably THE most disappointing beauty product I have used, EVER!! MY LITTLE BEAUTY

Advantages: Instantaneous results, youthful, radiant, vibrant skin
Disadvantages: The price and perhaps the packaging

...Until very recently I'd never tried a single Clarin's product and until even more recently I didn't believe that beauty products really could work miracles. GHD Salon Styler - Perfect in most ways.

Advantages: Quick to heat up, consistent results, good quality
Disadvantages: Issues with wire splitting and sparks

...I choose to buy the GHD Salon styler about 2 years ago as it was recommended for thick hair and for the time I had them they were an excellent buy. Great quality and perfect results all-round. As with any GHD's I found I needed to use a thermal protector product to ensure my hair was free from burn and remained healthy. I found for just over a year the straighteners were of very good quality and very consistent, I was able to rely on them completely. The major issue I have with these straighteners was after just over a year of using them, whilst straightening my hair I noticed sparks coming from the wire near to my hand. Where the wire entered the GHD's it had split which was causing the sparks - I felt this should not be happening with the price and quality of the product. Understanding A Beautiful Mind.

Advantages: An excellent award winning drama, based on a true story.

...A friend of mine had been ranting on about how she wanted to try this product. I had seen it on a daytime TV programme as a 'wonder-cure' to make you look like you've had 8 hours sleep. On a shopping trip, there was an offer where you buy 2 Clarin's products and get some other trial-sized goods for free (many many department stores so this). So we bought one each and split the freebies. I had hoped that it would be wonderful and transform my face? however it did not go that far. It did give me a healthy glow when I wore it under my make-up and my make-up did last longer. So it lives up to that claim. The instructions say to use a thin layer under make up 2 - 3 times a weeks and you can also wear it as a beauty mask for 10 - 15mins once a week. ...and the great thing is my hair stays straight until I wash it again. When I used to use my old straighteners, my hair would be wavy again within a few hours. My GHD's are slimline and ideal for mid-length hair. However you can also get wide-plate ones (for long hair) and compact ones (for short cropped styles.) GHD also do a set for men. I've had my GHD's for eight months now and they are still as good as new. The box that mine came in also contained an instruction manual and that was all. However you can get GHD's that have all sorts of extras included, including heat-proof mats, product samples and carry-cases. You can also get different colours, my set's black but you can also get pink and red that I've seen and probably a lot more colours besides. I would definitely recommend GHD- however I wouldn't advise buying them from your local salon...
