Becker Traffic Assist 7914

Advantages: Stylish appearance, Intelligent route planning, accurate ETA calculation
Disadvantages: No major disadvantages

...I bought this to upgrade a built in Toyota satnav system. Build quality is good and it is easy to use, once you work out that after planning a multi point route it has to be given a name before the unit will accept it. On the whole I find the routing software is well up to the job and have had no problems in the three months I've been using it. It doesn't seem to have the strong "pulls" for motorways my earlier system had ie taking you on a long detour just so as you can use a short section of motorway. It has quite a good local speed limit database so does a better route calculation than my previous system that rated all A roads the same speed limit. The Becker can distinguish an A road that mostly runs through built up areas from one with mainly national speed limit and can plan routes accordingly. It gives accurate ETA calculations...

Triffic traffic

Advantages: Brilliantly directed, and acted, well-paced
Disadvantages: None

...“Traffic” is a film that I most definitely want to see again. It’s well over 2 hours long, and there is so much going on it, a bit like in Altman’s “Short cuts”, or even “Time Code” (where there’s the added similarity of documentary-style hand-held camerawork), so I’d be sure to pick up on details I hadn’t noticed the first time. And it’s the kind of film where the details matter… The ‘traffic’ of the title refers to drugs, of course, but there’s also the intersecting storylines, and plenty of symbolism relating to the more literal kind of traffic – busy roads, crossroads, and so on. Yep, it’s the kind of film that makes you notice things, and think a bit. The acting is very good throughout. The big names are Michael...

TRAFFIC JAM

Advantages: One Decent Joke
Disadvantages: One Indecent Film

...Well, I want to see this film with a friend called Ben Silk and he fell asleep five times during this movie and to be honest, I cannot blame him since it is probably one of the worst films for boredom I've ever seen. Perhaps the one very small redeeming feature of the film is a joke said near the beginning - all the rest of the film is really, really boring. The plot is not incredibly difficult to follow, but I found it boring. To tell you the truth, I can't really remember much about the plot except that it had to do with drugs and Catherine Zeta Jones is in this. The atmosphere is at best creepy - very much so. The world of drugs I've always found to be a creepy place. The only action during the film was when my friend's watch went off during the film and I had to wake him up to turn it off. To be honest, Traffic is...

Traffic review

Advantages: Variety of characters. Strong theme. Performances by Del Toro, Cheadle, Christensen & Douglas. Good support.
Disadvantages: Heavy going in places. Quite long.

...Traffic encompasses a month in the life of newly elected Drugs Commissioner Robert Wakefield. He is appointed by the President to crack down on the drugs problem in the United States. His first month in charge is an induction period for him to get a feel of what he is up against. At the end of this month, he is to give his first public speech on what he intends to do to help resolve the situation. The plot incorporates three or four separate stories with a variety of characters. Firstly, we have Javier & Manolo - Mexican police officers investigating the drugs exportation from Mexico to the US, who are drawn into the trafficking culture and pushed to their limit. Secondly, we have Montel & Ray - DEA officers who capture local businessman Eduardo importing the drugs from Mexico. They pressure him into informing them who runs...

Traffic Movie Review

Advantages: Thought provoking and originally styled.
Disadvantages: Disturbing and may feel a little to slow for some.

...I was attracted to going to see Traffic after being impressed by Steve Soderbergh's other films. Most notably 'Sex Lies and Videotape' and 'Erin Brockovich'. Once again he has proved his versatility as a director. The film: The film tells the story of a newly commissioned Drugs ambassador whose mission is to rid America of the drug problem. The film does not try to hide the fact that this is a near impossible task and makes for rather depressing viewing. However, the way in which it is presented is compelling. The whole movie is shot in a 'home video' way to make it feel more gritty and realistic. This works to great effect. All of the scenes that occur in Mexico are shot in a almost colourless sepia affect. This serves two purposes, a) to let the audience know where they currently are and b) to portray Mexico as even more...

Traffic - A Critical Review

Advantages: Fantastic acting, original incite into the drug trafficking world.
Disadvantages: Not that entertaining. Catherine Zeta Jones looking awful and unconvinving.

.... ‘Traffic’ is a serious film, but its disquieting effects make it less enjoyable and entertaining than it might have been, although the two DEA agents played by Don Cheadle (Boogie Nights) and the ubiquitous Luis Guzman (Carlito’s Way) provide admirable comedic relief. Zeta Jones is both unconvincing in the role and is also looking less glamorous than she used to be, even accounting for the fact that she is pregnant. This is one area where the film fails. Her character moves far too quickly from utter condemnation of her husband’s actions, to being a cocaine baroness. The film does succeed in not making any moral claims, but it also hints that there can be very little done to tame both drug use and drug trafficking with ever more sophisticated measures being taken by the traffickers in evading detection. The acting...

Rather get stuck in Traffic than watch this again

Advantages: Some of the best character acting seen in years, particularly in the smaller parts.
Disadvantages: Dull, slow, annoying, over-long, too complicated, no real ending, over-the-top direction....the list is almost endless

...Having had a look at the film review ops I've wrote so far, I've noticed I've only wrote about films I've liked. In order to redress this rather lopsided stance, I've decided to write about a film that I'd looked forward to seeing, but which left me immensely disappointed. The film that best fits the bill just has to be Traffic. I'll give you a (very) brief synopsis of the story, as to go into it in any great depth would take me hours! There are 3 main story lines. Number 1 involves Michael Douglas as a government-appointed drugs "Tsar" whose job it is to try and stem the tide of drugs entering the US, who discovers shortly after his appointment that his daughter is fast becoming a junkie. Thread 2 involves Benicio Del Toro as a Mexican policeman who is about the only incorruptable cop in all of Mexico, and his battle to beat...

SOME ALWAYS GET STUCK IN TRAFFIC

Advantages: See op
Disadvantages: See op

...I recently went into our local HMV music store having noticed a big sale sign offering 3 videos for £15 and dvds for £20 per 2 (damn, I must buy me a dvd player soon). Having spent half an hour browsing and making half the shop staff follow me in a uniform line, thinking me a shifty character, I ended up buying a bucket-load of videos to supplement and confirm my advanced status of ‘couchus potatoeous’. One of the films I got was Traffic (expect a few movie reviews in the coming weeks!), having heard good things about it from the movie media, and knowing that Benecio Del Toro won an Oscar for his supporting role. The story, in simple terms, revolves around drug trafficking between the USA and Mexico. Michael Douglas plays a hotshot judge who is given a position similar to that of the drug czar that that Halliwell guy...

The Lights are Green For Human Traffic

Advantages: funny, real life, easy to watch
Disadvantages: none in my opinion

...Hello again, It has been over a year since I have last written one of my DVD ops and I had planned writing quite a few so I thought it was about time to get my fingers flexing and right a hardcore review on one of my favourite DVD’s. Well as you’ve probably realised by now, my ops is about Human Traffic. When I speak to most people about this film and ask them if they have seen it they seem to stare at me blankly probably thinking I’m speaking of some Economics video talking about the problems of traffic. Well I can assure you now this film is not about Economics and people who think it is might be a little disturbed as to what it actually is. Plot: I think all good film reviews must start with the plot (however don’t quote me on that because my other reviews probably didn’t) and here it is. It...

Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 an excellent buy

Advantages: Produces a really good quality picture
Disadvantages: Expensive and sometimes struggles in low light conditions

...The Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 is an excellent webcam that produces a really crisp and clear picture at the other end. If you want all the features then dont plug the webcam in until the software tells you to. The instruction manual is not really needed, as operation of the webcam is so easy. The webcams image quality is really good in conversation with skype according to my friend in China. The picture...
