.... As soon as Mum had the money spare, we went bed hunting. It took quite a while for us to decide on the styles and things we wanted, but we both found what we were looking for, at a decent price in Argos. I opted for this, the Canterbury Double Bed. The picture in the catalogue made it look like just what I wanted, a black, metal framed double bed, with footrest and headrest. It also had the stipulation Mum had requested ? metal, not wooden struts. You can get this bed in two colours, Black, or Ivory, which are the same price. The actual cost of the bed depends on how you get it, it coming in bed only, and various mattress types. There is also a single bed version available. The cheapest you can get the double for, is £123.99 which is for just the frame, but this wouldn?t have been very comfortable, so we went for the cheapest mattress...

...apart from all the agro I had tracking one down I was pleased with how much I paid for it. I better explain, the reason I couldn't remember seeing them where I work, is because I work for a larger D.I.Y retailer and you don't expect to come across things like that!! When I got it home I thought to be on the safe side I would test it to make sure I hadn't purchased one that was faulty, I really didn't want to disappoint Ben as he knew we were getting him one. What's in the box? The box it came in was quite small and wasn't in anyway difficult to carry as it had a little carry handle and a big picture on both sides of the box showing you which design you purchased. My first ready bed has been very well designed it has a built in headboard designed for extra comfort, safety bolsters either side designed so the little un cant roll out, has an air filled mattress and a removable cover which is machine washable at 30 degrees. ...deposited the boxes and mattress and left after securing my signiture on the delivery note. But the first I knew of the delivery was the driver calling my mobile to letme know they were around 10 minutes away, despite being told that I would be sent a text message to confim the delivery was on its way as the van was being loaded, so again what if I had popped to the shop assuming that the delivery would be an afternoon one ( after 1.30pm) rather than a morning one (after 9am)? It took just under an hour for myself and my dad to put the bed together, and I have no complaints about the quality of the product now it is in my possession. Now I'll return to the item I have ordered, it was the double Capri style bed which when I ordered cost me just £99, it is a silver coloured frame bed. The mattress was the mid range one and cost around £140...

...My baby needed the safest mattress I could find - yet non of the mattresses I looked at offered me what I preceived as safe. Some were breathable, have you tried actually breating through them, very different from what I think is breathable. Anti alergy and dust mite repellant, no-one could convince me; hygeinic some were partly washable so some of the mattress would be clean; could I get a mattress with no chemical to make it fire retardant - no; could I use the mattress for my next baby and fell confident it was still OK - no I was told "new baby new mattress" why I asked, I found out the reason was that the mattresses over time build up all sorts of moulds and fungi as well as millions of house dust mites so I was ten expect to spend another £100 plus for my next baby. Can't say enough good stuff about Healthbeds Memoryflex mattress!

Advantages: Absolute bliss to lie on

...We needed a new mattress. We had a pocket sprung turnable mattress that was a few years old, but I knew it was time for a change because I got up every day with back and shoulder ache. I wanted to try a memory foam mattress, because the springs just didn't seem comfortable for me, and I'd read great things about good quality memory foam. Which? magazine has done a few tests on mattresses, and the Healthbeds Memoryflex has won it more than once. In face I contacted Healthbeds via their website, and they sent me a copy of the Which? report (well, you would wouldn't you?!) and that helped us take the plunge. ...I contacted after-sales in Feb 08 re faulty mattress still under warranty. We heard nothing for several weeks, then I got text to confirm delivery on certain date. That morning, after time taken off work, they rang informing it was "out of stock"! Re-delivery arranged. Husband due to be working locally so gave Customer Services his details stating that all calls, must be directed to him. On that morning, I received a call, saying our mattress had been "lost", therefore wouldn't be arriving. Husband later received call from the driver at our house but no-one home! My husband informed the driver that Bensons had cancelled but could be there in 20 minutes. Driver wouldn't wait. Re-delivery arranged, but when I rang to confirm nothing on system. The importance of a decent nights sleep

...About eighteen months ago I had a bad accident causing me to break my back - but Im not looking for sympathy, just a comfortable mattress to get a good nights sleep without waking up feeling stiff and unrefreshed. Well about two months after my accident I decided to purchase a new bed and mattress because my existing one was getting extremely old and I felt that I needed the comfort. I suppose I was more sensitive due to the injury. A bit like the princess and the pea, though Im no princess. My First Bed

Advantages: Perefct height for a toddler
Disadvantages: it's not big enough if you have to lie beside them!

...When our daughter was 18 months she was a very active child in her sleep. Her cot was no longer big enough for her to comfortably move around in the cot! We had seen a small bed in IKEA which was a toddler bed which could extend with the child! It also on one side had a rail which would prevent them falling out! The bed at the time cost £65 for the base and the mattress was £45. But now I believe they sell it as a combined package for about £105! The Bed came as a flat pack which my hubby found easy to make and put together! He put the frame together in about 20 minutes and the slates took about 10 mins and another 5 minutes to screw onto the bed to hold them securely! The instructions were easy to follow and all screws and keys were there to help you along the way! The bed was up and was light to move into the position...

My First Ready Bed - what a fab product!

...My daughter recently grew out of her Samsonite Pop Up Bubble Travel Cot (which I have also reviewed) and we decided that, as she had moved from a cot into a 'Big Girl's Bed' in her room, it was time to make the move with our travel sleeping arrangements as well. We thought about just letting her go in a standard bed, but felt that as she was in a junior bed at home (which is only 90 cm off the ground) it would be a bit much to expect her to cope with potentially falling from such a great height when she is meant to be enjoying her holidays! So we looked around and found surprisingly little available. There are some roll out foam beds, some futon mattress style ones and the rest are just sleeping bags to go on top of standard beds to keep the child all tucked in. We didn't really like any of these options, so were really pleased...
