...This brings Beijing shopping on a massive scale - this business is huge! The building itself is a large warehouse, inside of which are three main sections. On the left you can find everything from shampoo to tea sets all sorted neatly into easy to find aisles. At the back, you will discover a large area of "outside equipment". This includes a wide choice from tents to woodwork tools. However, the main pull of this establishment is its huge variety of food and drinks available in the main section to the right. There is literally the biggest selection of consumer goods on offer in Beijing under one roof here. So for the sake of convenience it is worth having a look here, if only to think of all the hassle you avoid by not have to bustle through the busy markets or constantly barter for prices. Hutongs of Beijing

Advantages: Beautiful buildings and a look at life for many ordinary citizens of Beijing
Disadvantages: Can be busy and cramped

...A hutong is an ancient alleyway or lane found in Beijing which can date back as far as the Yuan dynasty of China in the 13th century. The crisscrossing alleys can now offer a glimpse of another part of this ancient city that is quite different to the major attractions such as the Summer Palace or the Forbidden City. The tiny, twisted and interconnected lanes wind through whole areas of the city of Beijing. The lanes are lined with traditional stone houses all arranged in quadrangles, so four houses around a courtyard, which are beautiful old fashioned buildings. A Beijing Bolthole

...in many hostels, haven't done much travelling (yet), but I'm fairly sure these are pretty common problems in the world of hostels. Overall, our stay was successful, no horror stories to report, and none from our fellow travellers either. I would recommend this hostel to any young people staying in Beijing. Its reasonably far from the main tourist spots, but transportation is cheap, with buses at 1 Y, taxis at around 20 Y, and the subway/metro only 15 minutes walk away. There are plenty of shops selling clothes and souvenirs and loads of places to eat. I will add pictures when I return to the UK, as I do not have a camera cable with me. The train station we arrived was located in the middle of the city and was swarmed with thousands of people at the exit for international arrivals similar to that of a major airport and gave our first impression of the city. However this crowded mad city impression was forgotten after we arrived at our hotel near the lama temple was soon forgotten as the hotel was very nice and this was budget accommodation, but we had one of the best rooms we had around on our trip around the world. Well this game is amazing there is loads of different games (38 over 10 sports) which makes it last for ever. I will talk a bit about a few of the games now 100 Metres in this game you have to use the left right thumb stick or rapidly press A and B like most of the running games there is one problem when using the thumb stick it hurts!!! I have about 5 cuts on my hand and a few blisters they really didn't think about it when they made it them buttons! There is also 200m 400m 110 Metre Hurdles in this its just the same as the 100 Metres except there is hurdles and to jump the hurdles you have to press the LT button or left trigger. 800 Metres and 1500 Metres in this you do the same in the 100 Metres except you don...

...I have been in Beijing in April 2008 on a business trip. I spent over a year working in Beijing in 1995/1996. This was my first visit to Beijing after that and I was excited and apprehensive at the same time. During my first stay I have been at the Beijing airport very often - waiting for friends or colleagues or travelling myself. The picture which was stuck in my head was of the sea of taxi cars, yellow and red taxis, perfectly lined in a huge queue covering vast parking space in front of the airport. I never saw so many cars in one place. On my come back, as I was putting the first shaky step on the Chinese ground after the long trip, the very first thing I saw was my name written on the panel which was in the hands of a beautiful Chinese girl.
