BRILLIANT BEKO

...I purchased my silver Beko washing machine in April this year as me and my fiance had just purchased our first house together and wanted a machine that offered good value for money, got the job done and matched the other appliances we had already bought for our kitchen. As we had already bought a Beko fridge freezer in silver i decided to see what washing machines this company also had on offer so that the colour of the appliances would be exactly the same. I had a look on the comet website to see what was available as this was where i purchased my Beko fridge freezer and i spotted the WMA520s which had a low price and was also quite an attractive appliance as far as washing machines go.

No Washday Blues with my Beko

...Beko WMA520 Washing Machine.
We brought this Freestanding Front loader washing Machine from Comet some several months ago, for approximately £200.00.
It's looks blended in perfectly with my minimumlistic approach to décor, in a clean fresh overall white colour, it fitted in just right.
After removing the three transit brackets at the rear of the machine, Installation only took minutes, not much more than a simple DIY job performed by my Husband, that'll probably be the only time he'll touch a washing machine, it did help however that the plumbing was already there from the previous washing machine, it's a cold water only feed, so only a single pipe to connect. We have a connection outlet on our sinks waste trap, where we were able to connect the water outlet pipe to with a du clip, but of course this can also be dropped into...

Beko WMA 1715 W (white) - A great value choice
Advantages: Price, build quality, features, ease-of-use, very energy efficient
Disadvantages: LONG wash cycle, needs good water pressure
...I have owned this machine for several months now and, having a family of four, it runs at least two washes per day.
The Beko was at least 20% cheaper (NOTE: White is 10% cheaper than silver for some reason!) than any other in the showroom and has all the features you'd expect of a mid to upper price model. It feels solid and well made though it's not as "pretty" as machines from some other brands. I can find no significant difference between this and the more expensive brands bought by my friends.
All the usual features are there and the very thin manual describes how to use these features without requiring you to have a degree in engineering.
In use, it is very quite (can be used at night), cleans clothes well and leaves them reasonably dry after the fast spin cycle. I had a Hoover machine previously which lasted 12 years...

Beko the brilliant everlasting washing machine!
Advantages: Simple, cheap, reliable.
Disadvantages: Not the most stylish, some parts could be more robust. (minor gripe).
...We have had the Beko washing machine for a good few years now and its been around so long that I am not even sure I can remember exactly how long that is. At least 3 years maybe more. It hasn't been without it's problems but I'll come to that issue later.
Lets start with the design of the machine...
Our's is white and lets be honest, does the colour really matter, I think a silver one was on offer when we ordered ours from one of the generic barn stores you can find in every concrete retail park. If I remember rightly it was another 20 of your English pounds so we went for the white one. Beko WMA765S - looks a stunner, but not much go!
Advantages: When it worked it was fantastic
Disadvantages: it didn't work for long enough
...Initially we loved this machine and for 7 months it was perfect. I couldn't recommend a better machine, then all hell broke loose. Firstly we had a problem with the door occasionally shooting open when on full spin.
We eventually managed to get an engineer out (after the high street shop we bought it from didn't want to know and we had to get Beko to send someone out ) and they mumbled something about Beko not being good for getting spares out to them. We thought it was that the engineer was just having a bad day, but we were wrong. The repair company did not have the part in stock so we had to wait (and wait we did for 3 weeks) then 4 days before the engineer was due to return the machine died. Literally nothing worked, no lights, just a great lump of plastic and metal in the kitchen corner.

Advantages: Huge porthole, superb spin, price.
Disadvantages: Takes quite a bit longer than other machines to complete cycle.
...delighted with this machine. I only bought it because of the price as my old machine died unexpectedly but I'm now a Beko fan. The only disappointment was not getting a free box of washing powder inside like the good old days - but at this price who cares!!...

I got a silver machine
Advantages: Cheap. Eergy efficient. Silver
Disadvantages: shakes a bit when it spins
...packed lunch. I was warned to remove the holding bolts that stop the drum rattling around in transit or the whole thing would disintegrate the first time it was started. I thought this might be fun but resisted the temptation. It was then a case of screwing on the water-pipe thingy (cold inlet only), shoving the waste-pipe thingy down the wotsit and plugging it in. It took 5 minutes before we had a wash on!
The controls

Start button, pre-wash, extra rinse and a start/pause/cancel. Nothing too hard there. I guess the pause button is there because if the phone rang when you were watching the washing going round at a really interesting bit and you didn't want to miss it, you could pause it and come back to it later. Good idea Beko. Simple but life-changing.
