the other city hall

Advantages: nice garden, handy for shops
Disadvantages: not much to see in side

..., such as the epitome of British haute cuisine, Burger King. It is a bit easier to travel down the said thoroughfare now that the security gates and turnstiles have been removed. Great Victoria bus and rail station is only about five minutes walk away. So are the Opera House (not that it stages any to my knowledge) and the headquarters of the UUP. So you have all of the important places near to hand. You can go to the shops, laugh at the OH and UUP then get the hell out. I took a wander inside the City Hall on one occasion but didn’t see much. I don’t know if this is because there isn’t much to see (which I suspect) or that the councillors don’t want to come into too close contact with the public. There are the usual trinkets that you get in these types of places, the gold rabbit’s from the mayor of London...

Belfast City airport - the airport IN Belfast

Advantages: In Belfast, very much expanded, convenient
Disadvantages: Limited retail facilities

...Continuing my reviews of Northern Irish airports, I thought that I should add a new review to those on Belfast City airport, because, wow!, this place has improved. Basically, a few years ago Belfast City airport really was not much to write home about. Now, it has majorly expanded. It still caters mainly to the domestic flights, but that is a major market for people from Northern Ireland, as we have to fly to get to most places! Easyjet is at Belfast International (Aldergrove), but there are some low cost flights into Belfast City (check out British European). Belfast City airport is conveniently located in Belfast (its major selling point), and is easily reached by car. It is also (in my opinion) better served by public transport than Belfast International, if only because a taxi ride to any of the connections is not going to...

Great value in Berlin city centre

Advantages: Value
Disadvantages: Nothing springs to mind

...My friend and I went to Berlin earlier on this month for a short break to get away from the bad Scottish weather. We were away for three days and four nights and were looking for somewhere cheap but comfortable to stay. We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Express City Centre West. Cost Cost is always my prime consideration when making any purchase so I was delighted with the price of £27 per person per night for a twin room at the Holiday Inn Express, especially given the poor Euro exchange rate for tourists. This was a special offer from one of the many websites that offers good deals on hotels. The special offer gave 25% off the standard price so the standard price would be £36 per night. This is still pretty good value I think, for the reasons listed below in my review? Booking As mentioned above I booked through...

Ramada Belfast

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...I stayed in the Ramada Hotel in Belfast and I must say that the experiance had its flaws and its charms. I normally stay in the Hilton or the Europa in Belfast if I ever decide to stay but because of the busy Valintines Day period I was unable to book a room in either of these hotels so I then decided to book a room with the Ramada. The price of this hotel was reasonable, at £79 a night, I think that this is a great price for a hotel of this standard because compared to the Hilton thats rooms can cost up to £125 a night for a twin room this is a great price for a Friday night, though the Travel Lodge probably would have been cheaper if you decide to go away for lesiure reasons sometimes that hotel wont cut it. The Room I received was clean, tidy and had lots of space in it, there were two double beds and it allowed smoking (as I...

The city centre shopping mall in Belfast

Advantages: Convenient, good selection of shops
Disadvantages: Can end up spending too much and too long in here!

...Castlecourt is the largest indoor shopping mall in Belfast's city centre, with the main entrance in Royal Avenue(the main shopping high street). There is also a side entrance to the centre and an entrance at the far end of the complex from the car park. A plus point to the complex is that it has its own multi storey car park. However, it is quite expensive compared ith other car parks in the city centre such as City Car Parks. It encourages Sunday shopping however by offering a reduced pricing poilicy on this day. The store is open from 1 o'clock to six on a Sunday and from 9 o'clock to 7pm weekdays with late nights to 9pm on Thursdays. Extended opening times are evident in the run up to Christmas, with it being open late evry night! Now the nitty gritty, whats shops are actually in here? A big draw is a huge Debenhams store. To...

Travelodge Belfast

Advantages: Cheap, very friendly staff, great location
Disadvantages: No luggage storage, basic room

...staying one night we didn't have much luggage but if you have big bags/suitcases it would be difficult to get them to the tourist information centre without getting a taxi etc. Depending on how long you wanted to leave your bag the cost was approximately £3.50 for up to 4 hours or £6 for 4 hours plus (but we actually only paid the cheaper amount as they said we only had small bags). The hotel was located right in the city centre, near the shops, theatre, city hall etc. Taxis are plentiful and cheap Although we didn't got to any bars, pubs or nightclubs these were all within walking distance too. All in all, the hotel is basic but in a good location. It was cheap enough but could do with a few updates. I would stay here again on a stay in Belfast but i belive there are possibly better hotels for a similar price....

Delta Hotel 42 The Damrak Amsterdam City Centre

Advantages: Superb Central Location
Disadvantages: Strict on Room Checkout Times

...street, it is an excellent location to relax over a good breakfast whilst watching the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. If you just fancy a snack, a few doors down from the hotel is 'Pizza M Slice' serving the best (yep you've guessed it) pizza in the city. A must try. If you are travelling to Amsterdam by car (not recommended) the hotel has arranged a 15% discount off parking fees at a car park a few minutes away. Parking is very expensive in the city, and as the public transport is excellent and the majority of attractions are close by, a car really is not needed. For those of a sporty nature there is a modern fitness centre 20 meters from the hotel, where, in cooperation with the fitness centre, there is a discount for guests. All in all, the Hotel Delta is an ideal choice for the budget-minded traveler, very reasonable rates...

WHAT'S WITH THE SHEEP

Advantages: Great venue, great disabled facilites, supberb views
Disadvantages: Carparking is not free

...Belfast Waterfront Hall can be found at 2 Layon Place, Belfast, BT1 3WH. The contact telephone number is 028 90 334400. It is owns and run by Belfast City Council so ratepayers basically have funded its building and upkeep. Not only is it a concert hall it also acts as a conference and exhibition centre too. It has been open for around 6 years or so now – purpose built with modern facilities to suit the needs of both business and entertainment. Prior to this in Belfast there was a huge void. I have lived in the city for 8 years now and it was not until April this year (2001) that l visited the Waterfront Hall. FIRST IMPRESSIONS It looks huge from the outside. Built on the banks of the river Lagan, it overlooks the weir. It is a massive glass fronted building with 4 floors. The views are spectacular to say...

More about Belfast

Advantages: Lots to see & do
Disadvantages: Some people

...the city departing from city hall, right in the city centre. Train links are also good, and there are 3 stations within the city. There is also a translink bus that runs the lop between the main bus and train stations to the city centre, and is free with a valid translink ticket. Belfast is full of hotels as well, with prices ranging from cheap and cheerful to full on extravagant. The Europa is possibly one of the more famous, due to it being blown up so many times, but is one of the top hotels in the city, although it just looks like a block of council flats to me! There is also a Jury's, a days inn and a Holiday Inn around the Golden Mile and city centre area, as well as some other top hotels just outside the city centre, such as the Ramada at Shaw's Bridge. Belfast is a city that can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be...

Review of Belfast in general

~~Reaching its 10 years of entertainment~~

Advantages: Convenient, safe, clean, and accessible to any kind of transport
Disadvantages: Not much of events and programmes that I like most to watch

...THE WATERFRONT HALL is one of the architectural icons along Lagan River in Belfast, just besides Hilton Hotel and few meters away from the central train station and St Georges Market (3rd best food market in the UK). It is an entertainment and cultural venue for the past ten years, and it has been visited by prominent people from around the world, including Prince Charles who inaugurated the building in January 1997. One of the magazines published by the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau describes the Waterfront Hall as one of the ''must-see city attractions''. This ''contemporary theatrical venue'' dominates the Lagan skyline with its distinctive bronze dome. This 2,000-seater venue has a ''superbly designed'' concert hall and it is also considered as an ''expression of Belfasts confidence'' as a modern European city and it...
