My main reasons for choosing this where because I knew Belkin is a very respectable brand for when it comes to electronic connector cables and its length suited my needs perfectly. I found that the cable fits very snugly into the back of my computer so that when it gets knocked about for some reason (kicking from mad frustration during games :) ) then it does not fall out. ...the I needed to go away and get a VGA cable to hook it up and that's what I did. Since I have alot of things around my TV (lots of computers things and electricity) I didnt want any sort of crosstalk (disturbance on the cable from other electrical devices- its quite rare now but not unheard of) I made sure that i got a double shielded wire, the best one of these that i could find was the Belkin PRO series. This basically means that it has 2x the amount of protective sheath around the cable so that nothing can get through and distort the signal. They are also well know for their good quality and reliable cables and make so many different types there one for whatever you need to do really. Because this is a VGA cable one end goes in your PC or laptop and the other in the back of your TV. It really a s simple as that. All laptops and pcs being made now have this capability to plug this cable into them and the port is usually a blue one which is longer but a little thinner than a USB port. Some really older pcs might not have the port however anything newer than 5 years should definitely have it. ...has USB connections for the keyboard and mouse although Belkin do a range of KVM's so you can probably find a PS/2 equivelent if you have that sort of mouse/keyboard. The PS/2 models also include PS/2->USB adaptors so you'll also need those if you have a USB mouse and PS/2 keyboard. This particular model has no support for audio so if you need to also have your microphone and speakers switch from PC to PC, look elsewhere. The monitor, keyboard and mouse are then connected to the KVM to complete the set up. One bugbear is that like the vast majority of KVMs, this Belkin unit has cables going in one end and out the other making it difficult to place on a desktop without having cables hanging out everywhere.
