Great Multimedia Wireless Router from Belkin

Advantages: Reliable, Fast, Easy to configure, Lots of features, USB for sharing drives
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, Not full speed with every machine

...INTRO The Belkin N+ router is one of the higher end (consumer) wireless modem router offerings from Belkin. It cost me £85 from PC World, but can probably be found for a bit less if you shop online. The Cable version costs a little less. Reason I bought this one was because two PCs in the house with wireless cards kept losing the wireless connection when I was using a Linksys router (my own PCs / laptops were fine though!). I replaced that with a second hand Belkin, which worked fine but unfortunately, a power cut killed the wireless on it. Belkin Wireless Router gets top marks

Advantages: Self configurable, Web interface, Free Lifetime support, ease of use

...I did a lot of research into routers before jumping onto the wireless bandwagon and eventually plumped for the Belkin and I am more than happy with my purchase. The Belkin was by far the cheapest router at the time (I paid £50 in 2005) compared to most other models which were on average £20 more expensive for what I could see, was the same functionality. Advantages: Fairly easy to set up, easy to use, reliable, looks good.
Disadvantages: Bandwidth Innacurate.

...in the garden, then you shouldn't have any big connection issues (dropping connection etc) due to its proximity? unless you live in a big house with a big garden of course. You should check Belkins website to make sure this router will provide the coverage you need though as I wouldn't want to just assume it would for the purpose of this review. It also means that my dad can use my connection from his house next door if his net ever goes down (although he'd need me to give him the security password which I shall talk about below) as our network shows up on his laptop when he's reconnecting to his home network haha. ...I bought this router as my old one was USB connections only. The price was fairly reasonable from Curry's (£58) and the salesperson gave me enough advice to feel able to set it up on my own! It comes with an installation CD which explains the process in plain english, however, the manual on the CD re-routed me a lot when I found problems after initially installing it onto my laptop. It installed but wasnt picking up my IP address. I called the Belkin helpcentre (which is a lo-call number), and they were very helpful, they found my IP address and directed me to an 'online' page which houses all of my info about the router. Disadvantages: If you are on Vista, takes a costly telephone call to get you connected.

...We bought this wireless router as my son wanted to use his Wii on the internet. His room is on the 3rd floor and the computer and router are on the ground floor. It was simple to set up and the instructions were good, however, because we are using Windows Vista, nothing is ever straight forward. With one longish phone call to India, via the number on the instructions to ring, everything was sorted out. The phone call took 35 minutes for which I am sure i was charged a fortune for and there is no way I could have worked it out for myself, it was far too complicated to get this router to work on Vista. Once it was working though everything has gone smoothly. I do find that the internet is somewhat slower however he has a great connection on the 3rd floor and we have no complaints.
