Belkin Wireless Router gets top marks
Review of Belkin Wireless G Router F5D7230-4 - wireless router by
craggybuk
Advantages: Self configurable, Web interface, Free Lifetime support, ease of use
Disadvantages: None
...I did a lot of research into routers before jumping onto the wireless bandwagon and eventually plumped for the Belkin and I am more than happy with my purchase.
The Belkin was by far the cheapest router at the time (I paid £50 in 2005) compared to most other models which were on average £20 more expensive for what I could see, was the same functionality. The Belkin also offered free lifetime support which could turn out to be a lifesaver as I have become very dependant on the internet to carry out my day to day duties.
--Whats In the Box? --
There are no real surprises inside the box, you get the router itself, a mains power supply, an instruction book which is surprisingly good for an electrical product and a CD which contains all the necessary drivers and a more in-depth manual.
--Setting up the router--
Before you can...

Route Me This Way---> ALL THE WAY TO BELKIN -__-"
Review of Belkin Cable/DSL Gateway Router 4-port - router by
Saiyan
Advantages: Belkin Lifetime Warranty and free technical support, Compact! saves space
Disadvantages: Manual's contents are limited - doesn't go into depth.
...**************************************************
Edit - I changed the title to this review - as the other title seemed to be too technical and scared of many readers - enjoy! ^^
*****************************************
Introduction
----------------------
Before I actually start my review about the Belkin 4 port router I believe it’s fairly important just to summarize the meaning of a router as many people wouldn’t have come across the term or device before.
A router is like a hub on a network but has much more facilities on it.
Note: A hub is a device in a network that that acts as a gateway between numbers of computers to connect them within a group so that they can communicate with each via packets, etc. Though the router has ‘hub’ like features, the reason they are more effective and costly is because the router...

Belkin F5D 7632-4 Wireless Rouer
Review of Belkin ADSL Modem with Wireless-G Router and Wireless G USB Network Adapter - wireless router by
express1
Advantages: When it works, it is brilliant!
Disadvantages: When it doesn't , it inspires computer rage!!!!
...to the Belkin F5D 7632-4. It was in my price range and offered four cable (ethernet connections) and the wireless capability too.
I would imagine that these qualities might draw you to the same conclusion.
So off you trot , cash in hand to buy one from the nearest store. You ask a few questions from the salesperson, who tells you something of which you have no comprehension, but sounds convincing!
Satisfied that you have listened to an expert. You toddle off home, eagerly anticipating your new internet adventure. This where your troubles begin!! Because when you set up your new machine, there is a host of information you need to know and understand. If you are technology minded, this is easy peasy !
However if you are not , it's about as practical as teaching nuclear physics to a window cleaner! ( no offence intended)
You set up your...

Belkin 2-Port KVM Switch With Built-In Cabling
Review of Belkin 2-Port KVM Switch with Built-In Cabling - KVM switch - 2 ports by
ilaskey
Advantages: Advantages: Cheap, all in one solution
Disadvantages: No manual overide or audio support
...It's surprising how many people have more than one PC at home although even more surprising is that many of them each have their own screen, keyboard and mouse.
In many cases this makes perfect sense but sometimes, you know you'll only ever use one or the other - perhaps one is your general PC and the other your music workstation. In these situations you can save a lot of space and money by investing in a KVM switch. KVM stands for Keyboard, Video and Mouse and allows you to use one keyboard, mouse and screen shared between two PCs.
This particular unit from Belkin is unusual in that it comes with all the leads permanently attached instead of being supplied as a separate cabling set.
Wiring it Up
Installation is simply a matter of taking each of the two main cables and plugging the sets of leads in to each PC. The Belkin KVM...

What a Beltin' Belkin Router!!
Review of Belkin ADSL2+ Modem with High-Speed Mode Wireless-G Router - wireless router by
mattyprice4004
Advantages: Great wireless range, Futureproof, Nice looking, Fast!
Disadvantages: Some may say it looks a little chunky
...The Belkin first struck me as a bit odd, really. Alongside it in the local PC shop were simpleton designs from companies such as 3COM and DLink for £80-£90, then there was the lovely-looking and future-proof Belkin for £69. Confused? So was I.
Anyway, as you would expect, I took the Belkin to it's new home on a dusty shelf in my room. It was a simple case of Plug and Play really (Not Plug and Pray as with so many other routers). Within 5 minutes of opening the box I was happily browsing the Web, with the router sat happily flashing it's little lights at me from accross the room.
And thats it really - To this day the router lives - and I have had it for 9 months and counting. Not ONE other router has made it past the 3 month mark (I don't know why either).
I have a home-based Web server, and the Belkin makes light work...

Belting Belkin!
Review of Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter by
chrismoll
Advantages: cheap, easy to use, does exactly what you need to a great extent
Disadvantages: ?
...----What do you mean no Bluetooth?!----
I had purchased a new Nokia phone which had the fantastic added feature of Bluetooth technology. However, I realized that Bluetooth was not one of the features that come with my laptop. The way to get round this was to buy a separate Bluetooth adapter which could be plugged into my pc and left there - getting as close to a Bluetooth enabled computer as possible. When I went to get an adapter there was a fairly reasonable collection available but I thought to stick with a name that I know best and that was Belkin.
----Appearance and packaging----
The packaging was quite simple and a reasonable size for the Bluetooth adapter. The things included in the package were the Bluetooth adapter itself and a CD containing the most important files of setup and a manual in PDF form. Some people much...

Belkin ADSL2+ High-Speed Mode Wireless-G Router
Review of Belkin ADSL2+ Modem with High-Speed Mode Wireless-G Router - wireless router by
sbarwell
Advantages: Very stable, good speed
Disadvantages: Not a pretty boy, yet to get remote admin working
....
There are a few admissions here and there and some of the routers more exotic features are, in my opinion, worthy of more detailed explanations. At least it has not been written in chinglish.
Features
I have not used the complete set of features this router provides, so I will comment on the ones I have.
Firewall with SPI
This should take care of intrusions from the internet, from which I ran a check to see if the most common ports on the router were "stealthed" (I.E. did not respond when contacted) and they were.
On some other routers I have found ports (like the ones used by Telnet and Finger) to be open by default. Not exactly what you want considering there are over 65,000 of them!!
Port forwarding (called Virtual Servers by Belkin)
Appears to work well without issue. I have successfully configured FTP, pc...

belkin 54g router.
Review of Belkin 54g Wireless Cable/DSL Router by
gregory-j
Advantages: durable.
Disadvantages: can cut out without warning leaving you to troubleshooting it.
...The belkin 54g wireless router is very good when it comes to a strong signal, yet i still find it immensly annoying!!! When its running smoothly, it is no problem what so ever, but every now and then, maybe once every week or so, the signal will cut out for no reason and you will find yourself VERY frustrated when trying to retrieve it.
apart from this minor annoyance, the belkin is generally a very good piece of kit for your money. I payed around £50 for mine, and havent regretted it too much yet.
the quality is OK but not amazing, its built well as i found out when i trod on mine, not even a crack appeared, there was nothing damaged what so ever... wich impressed me because it looks plastic and cheap.
the belkin is very easy to use and can easily be reset with the little push button on the back if it does decide to go a bit off...

Belkin - High-Speed Mode Wirless G Router
Review of Belkin Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router wireless router by
derek-j-a
Advantages: High speed sharing of internet connection. Free on-line and phone help
Disadvantages: A bit tricky to set up for me at first..
...Before I write about the Belkin Router, I think it may be appropriate to describe my experiences that led up to the decision of setting up a network so that both our computers could share our newly installed NTL broadband connection.
There was something about networking that I had a "monster" mental-block about and when asking advice, all I could get was "it's easy!" Well all I can say about that is everything is easy to those who know how.
I'm not a technophobe, but when something is working OK, I am of the opinion not to try and fix it. But I was getting fed up of my slow dial-up internet connection and it was really about time that I contacted my ISP (NTL) and ordered broadband, especially after reading several reviews - it was just a coincidence that I had not long received an upgraded computer and broadband...

BELKIN MAKES HOME NETWORKING A DODDLE
Review of Belkin Network Starter Kit by
cobnutty
Advantages: Very easy to install
Disadvantages: More back of PC wires to hide
...Thanks to Belkin, I am now the proud system administrator of a large number of PC's.... 2 to be precise!! I made my original purchase of the Belkin home network starter kit from PC World with disastrous results (please see my separate opinion for PC World)
The kit comprises of 2 10/100 Ethernet cards, 25ft of cable and all the software needed to make installation easy and painless. This includes Belkin 'Netshare' and Belkin 'Netsetup'. During installation I found it necessary to contact the company's product support help line due to the fact that I am sometimes a Pratt and occasionally find it difficult to read the simplest of instructions!! The technical support line was, for a change, a national telephone number and the call lasted only about 2 minutes. The person at the other end of the line was very human and promptly forwarded...
