The flash can be always on, always off or auto (it decides). I've found it better to make that call yourself and then it performs fairly well. There are 5 exposure settings: auto and then 4 others for specific lighting situations, fluorescent light, overcast, sunny and tungten light. These are a nice touch and do seem to work if the lighting is certain (i.e. not if some sunlight in a fluorescent lit room). As well as picture it also includes digital sound recorder, video camera/webcam and burst fire (three shots in succession) which all work well (though the sound mic is fairly poor at any range). ...I have had this camera for over 3 years now - I am a semi-pro film photogrpher and want to take a step into the digital world. This camera is an ideal replacement for a compact camera, PROVIDED the user is happy to fiddle with the buttons! Compared to most compact cameras, these are of reasonable size and are intuitive to use as the options menu is not too full. The lens and, subsequently, the images are VERY good, and the zoom is smooth; the digital zoom is hard to use smoothly though - far better to use this in the software on your PC. Really, you would NOT want to use this feature - fortunately, it can be turned off in the menu system. Dyson DC14 a powerful sucker!

Advantages: Bagless, powerful, 5 year warranty, great suction.
Disadvantages: No cord auto cord rewind.

...'t used yet, but it's there anyway! The DC 300 mini comes with a simple editing package to crop, adjust light and colour and put together albums. It even has a simle movie editor package to put together short clips - ideal to send to friends and family or post on your web site. Cool! The downfalls are barable, for instance: you must load your images on to your computer before the battery runs out, but you can get a good 100 pics in before this happens. It's a good idea to have a supply of AAA batteries nearby! Also it can be a little hard to compose a picute, because the viewfinder is not directed through the lens. Dyson DC14 Allergy

Advantages: Powerful, doesn't lose suction and a wide range of optional extras
Disadvantages: I can't get on with the angled crevice tool

...I started out with the original Dyson DC01 but I was always convinced mine wasn't as powerful as my mums and didn't remove dog hair very well. After buying a new carpet I bought the DC14 Allergy at a special offer price a couple of weeks ago and I wouldn't be without it now. It almost takes the carpet up with it!! And it loves dog hair. It really does make vaccuuming easy. When using the pipe, it almost takes off but I guess you need to actually be holding it to believe it. The only thing I can't get on with is the angled crevice tool. I much preferred the straight one on my original Dyson. You can also buy a mini turbine head to attatch to the pipe (which I will invest in) which makes cleaning stairs even easier. The pipe is long enough to reach to the top of the stairs in one go. All in all, a fantastic cleaner....

Dyson Ball DC25

Advantages: Very light and very manoeverable.
Disadvantages: Bit too light and moves around a lot.

...The Dyson DC25 all Floors vacuum cleaner is a revolution in houshold cleaning. Not only is very good at picking up small pieces of dust and dirt,but the filters are washable which makes it cheaper than some other types of cleaners. I love the way it manoevers around furniture and as it has a small and low head it can get under the edges of furniture as well as under my radiators. Something my old Dyson couldn't do. It's very light weight, weighing only 7.5kg so it makes hoovering upstairs that much easier. The only draw back of this weight is that when you are using the extension hose to clean furniture, curtains or to get behind things, i found that if stretched to it;s limit the machine would move around and has caught me in the ankles several times. This is a little annoying as i have had to stand with one foot...
