The guest house is on the top floor of an apartment block, just a two minute walk away from the city centre and its main square, Porta Nuova. The apartment block is behind very secure gates and even though it is in a city centre it is very quiet and peaceful. The apartment is on the top floor and there is a lift or stair access. ...I booked a ryanair flight to milan bergamo airport for not very much. My flight was landing at 11pm so i wanted a hotel that was easy to find and cheap and close to the airport just for a kip to wake up fresh the next day. I booked this hotel with their website at a cost of 55 euro's, that was for a double bedroom with a shared Bathroom. We were on a tight budget, so decided to go for it. The double bedroom with a bathroom was 70 euros. The photos of the bedrooms looked quite nice and that tempted me to stay there,so i printed off directions to the hotel. Its 1.70 euros one way each from the airport to bergamo train station and takes around 15minutes and they are every 30minutes.Which is simple and easy. Great for one-night stop-over in Italy

...If you want a quick summery - good for a top-over on route to somewhere else. If you're in Bergamo for a few days, go for somewhere more up-market. Scenario = We were off to Lake Como, flying from Liverpool on Ryanair to Bergamo Orio airport. The flight got in at about 9.30pm and we needed somewhere for myself, the wife and the evil 3 year-old to stay within a cheap taxi-ride to the airport. We routed around the internet and came up with this place - close and cheap. We were not looking for a 5 star mansion, just somewhere to rest before the 2 hour (we got lost) drive to the beautiful Italian Alps. ...Below are some basic but, I hope, useful pieces of information if you intend to visit Bergamo. Bergamo is situated at the feet of Orobiche Alps. It si divided in two parts, the high and lower part. Locals are mocked over the country for their Funny way of describing the 2 parts in the their dilect, which is reputedly one of the most difficult to understand to anyone who was not born there. The main monument is Palazzo della Regione dating back to the 12th Century. Next to it is the tower of the county hall, from the 13th . A nice ay of going from the upper part to the lower one is via Via Pignolo, which brings you to the old medieval walls. Bergamo is also a place where you can have good food. ...Hotel del Corso is a rather ordinary three star hotel in Selvino which is twenty five kilometers from Bergamo airport. This doesn't sound very far, but it is up a mountain so you get a nice drive up a scenic mountain path, but it is hardly speedy driving! We stayed there after arriving at Bergamo airport on a fly-drive holiday, and not being able easily to find an inexpensive hotel near the airport which would put two adults and two children aged three and one all in one room. I never thought I'd miss Travelodge! Our holiday could cope with an hour's drive up to the town of Selvino, which I think is a ski resort, but we stayed therefore very cheaply out of season in July. We flew into Bergamo Airport with Ryanair, Bergamo itself would be a delightful place to stay, having an old Upper Town part that seems to have more interest than the newer lower town. The transfer to Milan was easy, an Airport Bus that takes you to Milan Railway station, which if you get the directions correct is only a 15 min walk from the Hotel. The directions assume you are starting from in FRONT of the Station, we started from down the side where the Airport Bus drops you off. At least we knew where to pick the bus up for the return. ...flight time was 1 hour 30 to Milan Bergamo although on the confirmation email it said 2 hours so this was a bonus. We travelled on a Boeing 737 ? 800 which comprised of one aisle with 3 seats on each side. There were four emergency exits. The experience was fine. As a budget airline this was well worth the money. I guess as the flight was so short not that much could go wrong anyway but to me this is excellent value for money. Both journeys got us to our destinations 20 minutes before we were due and there were no hold ups. I found the staff helpful and smart. Leg room wasn?t excellent, I?m tall so never really find any airlines particularly helpful in that department but as we weren?t seated for very long, this wasn?t a problem.
