Great value in Berlin city centre

...My friend and I went to Berlin earlier on this month for a short break to get away from the bad Scottish weather. We were away for three days and four nights and were looking for somewhere cheap but comfortable to stay. We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Express City Centre West. Cost Cost is always my prime consideration when making any purchase so I was delighted with the price of £27 per person per night for a twin room at the Holiday Inn Express, especially given the poor Euro exchange rate for tourists. This was a special offer from one of the many websites that offers good deals on hotels. The special offer gave 25% off the standard price so the standard price would be £36 per night. Review of Holiday Inn Express City Centre West Berlin

Radisson SAS Hotel Berlin. An oasis of calm in a bustling city.

Advantages: Stylish hotel in a superb location. Unique feature of huge aquarium in hotel atrium.
Disadvantages: One bed rather than two pushed together would have been nice!

...of traditional German decor style you won't find it here. This is a city centre, very modern hotel and frankly, once inside your room you could be in any major city in the world. That said, the rooms are sufficiently spacious for a short stay - light and airy and yet the furnishings give a feeling of warmth and comfort (and boy, do you need this in December when the wind blows - no-one warned me Berlin could feel so cold!) All the features of a 5-star hotel are there - the trouser press, the hairdryer, the safe, the mini-bar, the tea/coffee making equipment - all of which I would describe as "adequate" rather than outstanding. The flat screen TV and the free WiFi are helpful. The bathroom is quite stylish and clinically clean. A wonderful city. My first visit to Berlin.

Advantages: A magnificent city...too many good things to mention

Brilliant Berlin

...and purses! At the camping sites which I have found about on the Internet they have stated I, that everyone well a little lies outside clear in a city. I cannot find at a short visit so terribly practically personally yes precious time is lost there, because one would like to look at the centre and then would not like still to take a long journey there on himself. I do not like to camp particularly either, though, perhaps my aversion simply is due to it;) There then are pensions and hotels for the small and the big purse but as said, one finds an overview there on the Internet and can be just advised in the travel agency, too. Berlin - A City Reborn

...I was only in berlin for 1 week, not long enough by half to experience every thing I wanted to. accomadation; I checked into the Circus hostel near the underground station in rosa luxenburg Platz for 1 night when i first arrived but ended up spending the whole week there. Its clean, cheap, safe, the staff are very helpful, it has a nice reception area and a bar where you gat get drinks and a very freindly aptmosphere, also its within easy walking distance of the center in the east. I highly recommend it to budget travellers. Walking Tours: I didn't go on an orginised walking tour untill the middle of my holiday as I don't like being herded like a sheep anywhere but I had heard some good reports. What an amazing city!

Advantages: Beautiful city, so much to see and do, excellent transport
Disadvantages: None!

..., but it's easily reachable using the S-Bahn and getting off at Tiergarten. This is a very well-known zoo and we went soon after the whole drama with the polar bear and the woman who tried to kill herself, so it was buzzing with people. There are so many animals here and it is a huge zoo, we spent about 3 hours here. There are many facilities for food and drink. Don't forget to visit Knut, who's a very famous polar bear. We also went to Museum Island, and walked along a very posh road, the name of which I can't remember. It has loads and loads of designer shops and a shopping centre type thing completely devoted to cars - where I saw a Bugatti Veyron, which was a very exciting moment for me, lol. ...friendliness and helpfulness aren't usually on my list of expectations when I visit a large city. So I had quite a "wow" experience with the folks there. I drove around in a little Ford Ka rental car, which was really quite amazing; to drive from Charlottenburg to Pankow, to see the difference in architecture. One thing that really stood out was the large number of blue collar beer dives that look like something out of the 60's. I almost felt like I was in a time warp. Of course there are the many important historical landmarks, there's Unter den Linden, there's the Art Museum.... I'm sure you can find about those things in any Berlin Guide you pick up.
