Great 5* Berlin Hotel

Advantages: Great value for 5* hotel, very modern, clean
Disadvantages: Air-con was broken down..

...Just came back from our long weekend (2nd May Bank Holiday, 26May-28May) with 4 other friends. We went to Berlin with Easyjet; it was about £120 per person (a little pricey due to peak period) and the flight time is a little inconvenience because it departed at 6.30am, and check-in time is from 4.30am so we took the last train from London Bridge to Luton airport (about 1hour). We got there by 1.30am and slept on the benches for few hours. There are three airports in Berlin, which are Schoenefled, Tegel and Tempelhof. We went to Berlin Schoenefled with Easyjet and this is the furthest airport from town centre and to the hotel (Grand Hotel Esplanade), it took us about 1 hour. Radisson SAS Hotel Berlin. An oasis of calm in a bustling city.

Advantages: Stylish hotel in a superb location. Unique feature of huge aquarium in hotel atrium.
Disadvantages: One bed rather than two pushed together would have been nice!

...of traditional German decor style you won't find it here. This is a city centre, very modern hotel and frankly, once inside your room you could be in any major city in the world. That said, the rooms are sufficiently spacious for a short stay - light and airy and yet the furnishings give a feeling of warmth and comfort (and boy, do you need this in December when the wind blows - no-one warned me Berlin could feel so cold!) All the features of a 5-star hotel are there - the trouser press, the hairdryer, the safe, the mini-bar, the tea/coffee making equipment - all of which I would describe as "adequate" rather than outstanding. The flat screen TV and the free WiFi are helpful. The bathroom is quite stylish and clinically clean. (One feature of interest for us was a telephone handset attached to the wall within reach of anyone sitting...

Hotel Albergo - Berlin

Advantages: Quiet, reasonably priced and comfortable
Disadvantages: Not really near anything

...which was just as well as my German is very limited. On the downside you are not really near anything. There is a railway station close by if you want to go into Berlin and there is also a church and a petrol station nearby. I was not disturbed by the trains and found the area very quiet. I had a little walk around the locality and found a bungalow that looked just like the cottage in Hansel and Gretel. The hotel also drops you back to the airport free of charge. I managed to get a very good deal on the Internet and would be happy to return for a peaceful break....

Old Macdonald had a 5-star Hotel - eee ai eee ai oh

Advantages: It's spectacular and surprisingly quiet and the best location in the city
Disadvantages: Parking, high prices.

...As a student at Oxford University in the late 1980s, the Randolph seemed like the physical embodiment of the class divide that afflicted poor kids like me who came from state schools from the much wealthier students who took the affluence and grandeur of the city's finest hotel entirely in their stride. I'd never been in such a grand hotel and the closest thing to a grand building in my home city was the local branch of Lloyds Bank. My flat mates' parents would arrive each term and take us out to the Randolph for rather staid Sunday lunches in the spectacular high ceilinged dining room where we'd sit and watch the world cycle by through the tall windows. By contrast my parents would visit bringing a bag full of fish and chips or a Chinese take-away. I can't really say that we enjoyed the Randolph that much more than a take...

Britain's Most Glamorous 5-Star Hotel!

Advantages: Super high-gloss telly drama, great cast, funny
Disadvantages: Nothing at all!

In 2006, Hotel Babylon became one of these shows. It's high-gloss format with an attractive cast made it must-see television, and it became a hit. Great 5 star hotel

Advantages: Great service and cheap for a 5 star hotel
Disadvantages: May need to book a room in advance

...There are two sites to the Renaissance Hotel. There is the Renaissance Wing Deluxe and the New World Wing Superior. There is not much difference, Renaissance Wing Deluxe is a little more luxury, which each room will cost more. I stay at the New World Wing Superior. I paid RM 185 (approx £26) excluding service charge and 5% gov tax. Rates will changes depending on the month of the year (See below). The hotel is based close to the city centre, were it is 10 minute walking distance to the Twin Tower and 20 minute walk to the a shopping area. There are taxis and buses if you don't feel like walking. But I recommend using the Monorail, which is close by. The view is great, I was on the 17th floor and I had a brilliant view of the Twin Towers. I would think if you were at the Renaissance Wing Deluxe site, you would get the view of the KL...

Berlin Mark Hotel

Advantages: Lovely, clean, and tidy
Disadvantages: expensive

...Only stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, but it was lovely and clean and tidy, the en suite was unbelievably clean, the towel were soft and still warm. On arrival to the hotel we were greated by very friendly and welcoming staff who all spoken such good englidh (one of my concerns as i speak no german at all!). we were early for our room so decided to get luch in the bar, which was beautifully cooked, and very cheap (£2 odd) and the Berlin beer served there was also very nice! There is entertainment on there most nights, while we were there there was a caberet, and a singer on, all which really involved the crowd in the bar. the breakfast the following morning was lovely, included all the normal items for a german breakie (bread, cheese etc) but they also had sausage and scambled eggs, which for me was a huge bonus, prefering...

A 5 Star Hotel for a 5 Star Anniversary

Advantages: Unbelievably luxurious
Disadvantages: Probably won't be able to tolerate a 2 star hotel again

...Niro and with a Michelin-starred chef, guarantees a pricey meal however so Mrs L and I skipped it. Conclusion Mrs L had always wanted to stay in a 5* hotel and even with Airmiles the Ritz was well out of my price range. That said, we had a great stay, loved every minute of our A-list lifestyle and have taken a whole load of fond memories away from the experience. We would both love to do it all over again and would strongly recommend the Metropolitan for anyone looking for stylish, five star luxury and top class service. I am already saving for our 20th anniversary! This is a thriving and upcoming part of the new city that offers brand new buildings and modern facilities juxtaposed against remnants of pre-1990s Germany. The hotel offers many of the features of a 4/5-star American chain hotel and would appropriately suit business or leisure travellers and families travelling to Berlin.
