...The Hills is my guilty little pleasure. There's backstabbing, friendships, boyfriends, clubbing, making up, breaking up, in fact this programme has everything! The Hills is actually a spin-off television series from the very popular show, Laguna Beach. This show followed a bunch of high school students through their life in Laguna Beach, California, a very affluent, beautiful area right on the coast of Southern California. One of the main characters was Lauren Conrad, often referred to as LC. She, in my opinion is quite a pretty, nice mannered girl, if somewhat spoilt. She has the clothes, looks, long blond hair and drives a very nice convertible car. I do like her and I think she is quite entertaining. She often seems to have a rough ride where some of her friends are concerned but that is life, and more importantly that is life...

I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). My saint bernard Sophia

Advantages: loving gentle protective always eager to please loyal and obedient

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Bernard Cornwell's Harlequin brings the middle ages to life

Advantages: there are two more books! If you like Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe you will love this.
Disadvantages: the excess use of Saints, the complicated vocabulary

...The first book in Bernard Cornwell's Grail Quest, with Thomas of Hookton replacing Richard Sharpe as the hero, is magical. In my opinion Cornwell is the one of, if not the best writers of historical fiction out there and he has excelled himself with this book. His portrayal of England and France in the 1300s (the run up to the Battle of Crecy) is such that you actually feel you are there but it is his characters which show him for the master that he undoubtably is. Thomas just wants his bow and his women and this is something which not change throughout the novel as we see him change from sallow youth lucky to kill several of those who have pillaged his village into a fully fledged longbow man, a true master of the medieval battlefield. Cornwell's overall grasp of medieval life is stunning with everyone from the Kings...

March on up to the top of the hill....

Advantages: Amazing views of Prague once you reach the top!
Disadvantages: The staircase made me feel dizzy.

... Petrin Hill Petrin is a hill in the centre of Prague, and it takes some climbing to get to the top! It rises 130m above the left bank of the Vltava River and it's covered in parks, making a great site for a lovely walk, and it's a favoured recreational area for the people of Prague. You can see the hill from Charles Bridge and on the top of Petrin Hill in Prague you may notice an Effiel Tower like tower at the very top. This is the Petrin Hill Observation Tower. It's a 60 metre tower which is much smaller than the Eiffel Tower, however as it's on the top of Petrin Hill it does have almost the same altitude as it's French lookalike. It was built in 1891 and was used as not only an observation tower, but also as a transmission tower. Today though this tower is a good tourist attraction as it offers spectacular views of Prague...

The Hills Have A Remake

Advantages: dark and creep
Disadvantages: too dull to be very scary

...CONTAINS SPOILERS! I've not seen the original so I won't be comparing this to that. Apart from the minor scare and the guy killing the 2 scientists at the start this is really boring for a very VERY long time. The travellers dog gets killed (we see nothing apart from it's body) and then not much happens. We're almost 40 mins into the film where their truck is sabotaged by the hill people (they use a stinger on it) and then lots of not much happens. The dad of the family walks back to the truck stop and the son-in-law finds a vehicle graveyard in a crater (and really should have sussed what was happening by then, it's totally obvious). The truck stop owner kills himself and the dad of the family is caught by the hill people and things actually finally start to happen. The son-in-law returns to the camper and the families second dog...
