Berwick... It's Simply The Best!!!
Advantages: Easily accessible, Lots to see and do..
Disadvantages: You have to come home sometime....
...Berwick-Upon -Tweed is a fortified town bisected by the River Tweed, rich in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside and coastal paths, which have been designated a "Heritage Coast and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty"
Nearby: You will be spoilt for choice as there are a multitude of beautiful towns and villages to explore, below are a few of my personal favourites:
BAMBURGH: The ancient capital of Northumberland which boasts a Magnificent Castle, right on the coast the sands are fabuloous!!
SEAHOUSES: A small but charming seaside village with excellent fish and chips , it reminds me of holidays I had as a child, slow paced without the need for too much excitement.
LINDISFARNE CASTLE: Well worth a visit as it is situated on Holy Island......
We usually stay at Berwick Holiday Centre which is just a short walk...

BEN MORE HOUSE Recommended stay in Berwick upon Tweed
Advantages: Breakfast and Location
Disadvantages: None.
...My better half of over 40 years was feeling the need to visit Holy Island (lindesfarne), so i had been looking.
Then saw an old working mate passing thru Nottingham station, where I work, Where have you been Lindesfarne he says, he recommends staying at Berwick, on the main line, and has a Bus service linked to the Tide Timetable that calls at the Station.
So looked for B & B's in Berwick, fell upon www.berwickbedandbreakfast.co.uk this site gives about 20 places. Most seemed booked but got two nights at Ben More House.
When we arrived, there were many NO VANCANCY signs up. It transpired it was Heritage Weekend with an OPEN DOORS policy, which meant FREE ENTRY to all places, what a bonus.
We arrived at Berwick Station bang on time (Well done CRoss Country Trains). although I had a Map printed, there is a good one outside...

Berwick Upon Tweed
Advantages: A pleasent and friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not much to do
...Berwick, North England, at the mouth of the Tweed River. The district includes the Holy Islands and the Farne Islands and extends SW to the Cheviot Hills. The town of Berwick, located in the district, is a market town and seaport, famous for its salmon fishing. Grain is the chief export; oil and timber are imported. Industries include shipbuilding, engineering, sawmilling, fertilizer production, and the manufacture of tweed and hosiery. The principal border town between Scotland and England, Berwick changed hands more than 13 times between 1147 and 1482, when Edward IV finally claimed it for England. It did not become officially English until 1885. Many still question wether Berwick is English or Scottish, it is English.
I have visted Berwick now 5 times most of them being 1-2 week durations and am returning at christmas time this...

Haven at Berwick
Advantages: Kids shows, nice area, nice beach, shops nearby
Disadvantages: Could be very lively/loud, prices on site.
...Having been to, and enjoyed, two previous caravan park holidays (one with Haven), we decided to book another at the end of August. There are 2 of us adults and 4 children so we booked a 3 bedroom 4 star grade caravan (linen and passes included) for £389. I booked online and it was very straightforward. We chose Berwick park as we wanted to visit Northumberland and the scenerey and castles of that area.
BERWICK PARK
Berwick Holiday Park is situated in Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Northumberland, close to the Scottish borders. Berwick is a nice market town which is fully walled and contains castle ruins. There are lots of gift and small shops, a Somerfield, Argos, Mcdonalds and Morrisons (the last 3 being a short drive on the edge of town). The park is a ten minute walk from Berwick train station and there are taxi's and mini buses running...

BLISSFUL DAYS AND NIGHTS IN BERWICK
Advantages: A WONDERFUL PLACE WHERE YOU CAN RELAX AND REJUVENATE
Disadvantages: YOU WON'T EVER WANT TO LEAVE!
...Coates was one of the first B&Bs I saw online and there was just something about it that caught my eye. The other half at this point would be romantically inferring that it was fate or destiny and we were somehow meant to go there, but whatever the reason, we both loved wonderful West Coates from the moment we stepped over the threshold. Here is the story of our holiday.
xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx
My other half lives in Edinburgh and I in Newcastle, so it seemed really quite logical to book a little break for us somewhere in the middle, so that neither he nor I would have to do a huge amount of travelling to get there. We travelled to Berwick by train, with the journey for both of us being little over half an hour, and only £7.00 each way with GNER. A very good start.
I arrived...

David versus Goliath
Advantages: Good little small town football team. Once beat Glasgow Rangers!
Disadvantages: Will never be world beaters, or give their fans much to cheer about.
...~ ~ Berwick Rangers (nickname the ?Borderers?) are a football team who play in the Scottish Second Division. (Despite Ciao listing them as a Division 3 side) The side was formed back in 1881, but despite a history going back 123 years they have very few claims to fame.
~ ~ Perhaps the greatest moment in the club?s record is their famous victory over the powerful and famous Glasgow Rangers F.C., who along with Glasgow Celtic make up the ?Old Firm? of Scottish football.
It was back in 1967, and Glasgow Rangers were a very successful team who that season were having a good run in the old European Cup Winner?s Cup, and contesting the Scottish First Division title with their old rivals, Celtic. They had just come off the back of a good victory (2-1 on aggregate) against the German side, Borussia Dortmund, and Berwick Rangers were ?minnows...

Berwick's Bradley Bear.
Advantages: Great for Families
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...for the kids, learning many dances, playing games and lots of competitions. The kids came back with several certificates for the activities they joined in.
The site itself had plenty of parking, next to your caravan, plenty of lighting along the roads, and was kept clean and tidy. The leaflet that has just arrived with my free paper states that it also now boasts a NEW Multi Sports Court.
Next to the site was a golf course, and the beach. you could also walk along the coast to the town of Berwick. This is a must. An outstanding market town, with plenty of sightseeing to do. I would suggest that you have a really good look at the map book, and get tourist information to send details to you before going, so you can plan your holiday, if you want to go off the park.
To book your holiday, there are three ways.

A lovely country pub
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...I don't live in Eastbourne, I do however have a boyfriend who does, which is great for getting a little sunshine holiday on the South Coast . This may, it came around the to the dreaded 'Meeting his parents' stage, and I had no idea what to expect, and with me being the first real girlfriend he'd had, he couldn't give me any advice . Luckily it all went well, I turned up with a bottle of Rosé in one hand, my daughter holding onto the other and clutching a box of Ferrerro Rocher . Now, his parents like to go to pubs for traditional pub meals, and we did this a fair few times in the week I stayed there . However, out of the places we visited, it is the Cricketers that really stands out .
Getting to the cricketers from the main area of Eastbourne isn't too bad- Berwick Village is signposted, and the pub is on one of the main roads leading...

History only.
Advantages: Lots of historical interest.
Disadvantages: Not a great tourist town.
...Berwick is a very pleasant town, with a tremendous amount of history surrounding it, but not a town with a great interest for the average tourist.
If you are interested in the anglo-celtic history of the area, in particular how the town changed hands between the Scots and the English (13 times between 1296 and 1482), then the town has plenty of places to visit. These include the old castle, the town walls, and in particular the Berwick Barracks, which give an insight into the military history of the area.
There are also a number of other historic buildings and monuments to see and visit, of which one of the most striking is the railway viaduct over the River Tweed with 28 arches.
The main road in the centre of Berwick is Marygate and along this road there is a good selection of shops with many national retailers as well as...

Yes its quick but its not worth it... seriously
Advantages: Is fast food so will fill you up if your in a hurry
Disadvantages: Poor service, cleanliness, toilets and just not a very nice place to go!
...**What Is It?**
McDonalds is a worldwide fast food chain. This one has been open since 1991.The restraunt i am reviewing is the one in Berwick-Upon-Tweed. It is open from 7AM to 12AM and offers meals from Breakfast to snacks.
**Where Is It?**
For people who do not know where Berwick is it is a famous historical town just next to the Scottish Border. It used to be in Scotland but the english took over! Anyway this McDonalds is placed right next to a Morrisons supermarket (where we get our weekly shopping!) and directly below a Travelodge. This is actually on the A1 and is one of the direct routes to Edinburgh from somewhere like Newcastle, London etc. It is more on the outskirts of town but is generally said to be in Berwick. It is sign posted but it's not that hard to find.
**Look of Restraunt**
It is a big brick building...
