Solitary Fine Dining on White Sandy Beach - Bali

Disadvantages: far away from my home town

...It was another pleasing experienced for me when I got the chance to explore a new place to indulge my appetite during my short holiday in Bali & found this fine dining, Ma Joly Restaurant. The Location : Strategically located in Tuban area, around 10 minutes from the international airport, in conjunction with Kuta beach and buzzing Kuta area, the road to Tuban beach, Jln. Pantai Segara, swings right at the Bali Hai Resort. What appears to be a dead-end is actually the entrance to The Sandi Phala (Kupu Kupu Barong Resort) which we will find Ma Joly Restaurant, a surprisingly solitary fine dining place, a part from the resort. The best way to get here is by taxi or call the restaurant for free pick up service. The Venue : Located by a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach, the place has never ending amazing scenery...

The second best Greek restaurant in town

Advantages: Reasonable food and prices
Disadvantages: Not the best, slightly inpersonal

Ours restaurant exists already as from 1982." CONCLUSION I had been told that this wasn't the best Greek food in town, and I think the other place in Breda offers slightly higher standards of food and service. However, it was much better than I was led to believe here. The food was fairly tasty if nothing spectacular, the service was good and the ambience excellent. I would certainly consider coming here again. The décor is certainly worth seeing. Bali in the Rain

Advantages: Good size room, good food, friendly service, umbrellas
Disadvantages: Easy to get lost!

...raining until a few hours before I had to leave. However when it finally stopped I put my umbrella down and trekked out. Tho pool is full sized, on the large side if anything, and there are plenty of sunloungers around. There is also a wet bar, or pool bar. Beyond the pool is a walkway to the beach. The hotel is located on Legian beach which is one of the popular Bali beaches. However, it was almost deserted and certainly not looking its best, just a short time after many hours of rain with more to come. The golden sand looked a bit grey, as did the sky, and the beach was nearly deserted. The sea looked a little rough but again that was most likely the weather. The hotel also has a Spa, which I did not see, and a meeting or banquet venue in a separate building which can hold up to 700 people. Summary There are lots of places to go...

Advantages: Always one close by, quick turn out, children are welcome and catered for.
Disadvantages: Toilets can be quite disturbing, not all dishes taste as good they are described.

Conveyer belt food at its best, I don't feel it is as fresh and nutritious as Harvester claim but it's edible. .... Not quite an amuse-bouche, not quite a pallet cleanser, creamy and delicious regardless. That said, it did take us a couple of minutes to drink it as we had a sneaking suspicion that we were going to have a restaurant faux pas and half expected the waiters to burst out laughing. My main was line caught grey mullet with pickled cockle popcorn (really), which was served in a tasty orange sauce which I fail to remember the ingredients of. The two small fillets of mullet were delicious, tender and delicate and had been cooked just right (introduced to a pan from across the kitchen). The pickled cockle popcorn was tasty and not nearly as exotic as it sounds (the best comparison that I can think of are the deep fried clams served at Coney Island) and the sauce was delicately seasoned with flavours of harissa and tomato. ...As you can tell by the title Bali was not my ideal holiday - do apologise to anyone that loves it! Bali was part of a three centre holiday that included Bangkok and Hong Kong in October 2001. Bangkok was for the first three nights, Hong Kong for the last two nights and Bali was the nine nights in the middle. The flight to Bangkok was around 12 hours then another flight of about 6 hours to get to Bali, we landed in Denpasar which is the capital of Bali, we had a coach take us to the Hotel that was about an hour away. Wonderful Bali : Island of Nature

Rick Stein is an English chef, restauranter and television presenter. He now specialises in fish cookery. He opened his first restaurant in Padstow in 1974 and now runs quite a few businesses in the town including a cake shop, cookery school and a fish and chip shop. The Seafood Restaurant is his upper class restaurant in the town and is known for it's fabulous fish. It really is in the best location for fish. Padstow is a historic fishing port and so receives fresh fish every day.
