The Best FREE 0800 ISP

Advantages: no connection fee, no setup charges, no call charges, no monthly fee, additional services too.
Disadvantages: they disconnect you after an hour to allow other users to log on to their free service

...With no setup fee, no connection charges, no monthly rental and no call costs this has to be the best ISP in the UK today. I've been using this service for over a year now and it just got better. They call it 'ic24'. It started with free clling during the following hours on the weekend: 0900-1000, 1100-1200, 1300-1400, 1500-1600, 1700-1800. This time then incresed and I was then able to log on to the net for free on weekends anytime between 0900-1700. This time was again increased when free calls were recently introduced between 2000-0000 on every weekday evening. I also use ic24's 0800 number to access WAP services for free from my 7110(details of which can be found in my article on 7110). And ic24 also provides additional services like all other ISP's too....

Review of The Best FREE ISP - The Best FREE ISP

Undoubtedly the best ISP

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nothing

...and don't have O2 broadband you need to get on the case! If you're not an O2 customer get it anyway, or get Be* (same company) Unquestionably the best ISP I've experienced....

A Cheap ISP

Advantages: Cheap with Free technical advice No yearly contract
Disadvantages: None found so far

...I have been using ISP's for the past 3 years and have certainly noticed the price's are increasing and speed's are slowing down. I therefore decided to "shop around" for a faster connection speed and a cheaper price. After surfing the web I found a few that were cheaper than our current provider (Freeserve) but these companies tended to have a 12 month contract clause. When I asked if they would guarantee a higher speed than I was recieving they replied NO!! We had been with Freeserve for over two years and the connection speed was decreasing as the months went by. Unfortunately we were in an area that could not get the maximum speed but in the early months of our time with Freeserve we were getting a conection speed of between 37 and 40 kbps so were happy enough. However in the last 6 months they had been changing there connection...

Tesco is a brilliant newcomer to the ISP market

Advantages: User friendly and very reliable. Three Tariffs to choose from Anytime, Daytime and PayAsYouGo.
Disadvantages: You get cut off automatically after ten minutes of 'inactivity' online, with no warning!

...totally secure using the net, as they really do feed you through just about anything you can think of! All I can say is TRY IT - it costs you nothing at the moment for the first month, and you will probably be pleasantly surprised at the efficiency. The software is very easy to install from disc or online. It has excellent, clear and uncluttered screens that are geared to suit new users or experienced upgraders. You can alter from scheme to scheme easily and also plenty of offers from Tesco! Being Tesco, you will find that your screen is doing its best to get you to shop online, but ignore it, and you have a very good ISP underneath it all. The three main schemes are Anytime, currently one of the cheapest 24/7’s around at £12.99 per month with no fixed term contract. At the moment they are offering the first month free...

Review of Tesco.net ISP

Pros and Cons of Tesco ISP.

Advantages: Cheap & Easy
Disadvantages: Few.

...I joined Tesco's ISP because I moved from a Telewest area to a none Telewest or NTL area :( I wanted the cheapest ISP around because I wanted value for money. I currently use the Anytime tariff and have been a customer for 4 months. Tesco ISP comes with three tariffs, £12.99 for Anytime..(with NO restrictions of how many hours you can be online ...unlike BT). Pay as you go, from 1p per minute (or cheaper if you add the number to your BT friends and family), and Daytime 2am - 4pm for £5.99 a month.(I'm 99% sure this includes weekends too). Tesco are currently doing 2 months free with anytime, and you are under no obligation to stay with them. If you do stay, you are billed via a credit or debit card at the end of your month ..but please check which cards are accepted, Visa Electron, and American Express are currently not...

SIMPLY THE BEST?

Advantages: Easily readable, light, non-intellectual, aimed at the more mature woman
Disadvantages: A tad old fashioned, but perhaps I am too?

...Yes, I?ll admit it! I?ve been reading rather a lot of magazines lately. Mainly by virtue of the fact that I went to Scotland for a week in August and travelled by train. It?s a five hour journey and whilst I can quite easily get my head stuck into a good book for such a duration, I do find that the density of the text combined with the motion of the train, makes me feel sick after a while. So, magazines, with their colours and layouts make a good alternative. That?s my excuse anyway. One of the magazines that I picked up was ?best?. Whilst doing a little research for this review, I was surprised to discover that this publication has been around since 1987. Apparently, it is aimed at female readers between the ages of 25-55, but has a median reader age of 40. Heh, that?s me! Certainly, as I flicked through it I was pleasantly...

"Best" isn't brilliant

Advantages: Not too hard for the brain
Disadvantages: Much of a muchness, same style as Bella, Woman etc.

...I was wandering into the local sainsbury's petrol station and studying the mags, knowing I didn't want to add too much onto my bill, I decided to buy Best Magazine. I bought issue 23/05 with date 14th June 2005 on the cover. At 70 pence and with the chance to win a trip to Paris, I just had to buy it. You can buy this on every newsagent's stand and every forecourt. It's as common as The Daily Mirror however I don't think you can take a subscription out on this, so you have to make that trip out each Friday. I used to buy Best regularly when it was just an unbelievably low 40 pence and it was fatter. Now its become skinny and I've spread out! I was surprised to find its only 67 pages long, it used to be a whopping 98 pages. So I don't mind if they condense the magazine but how can the publishers justify putting the price up...

The best ISP of the moment

Advantages: Fast, Cheap
Disadvantages: Um. What are they again?

...WOW, this is my first review here and I just wanted to say that some of the quality here is amazing. Anyhoo, I'll try and match that becuase I was so interested in sharing my opinion about Plusnet. THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING ISP OF THE MOMENT!!!!! I bought a 512K home ADSL line. My experience was so good that I can summarise it easily in a list: 1. Cheap - at a price of £19 without 1GB cap as with cheaper £14 product, this is one of the cheaper services around full stop! 2. Speed -it really works. A friend with Bt Yahoo only gets 1/5 of his bandwidth whereas my line is always at 80 to 90% despite having a high number of users sharing at the ISP's end. 3. Reliable -hasn't broken yet. 4. Quick and easy installation -the main delay was BT enabling the line!!!! 5. Fast ping times -perfect for online gaming. 6. Good filters...

Review of Plusnet

best isp

Advantages: free shares, good service
Disadvantages: none

...This internet service provider basically gives you better than free internet access. They give you shares for the amount of time you spend on line. This more than covers the price of the local calls. i signed up in October and now have £800 pounds worth of shares, not bad eh? The service is great. I've never had problems logging on and the links from the totalise homepage are excellent. I know that the company are due to launch in Australia soon, so it's not as if they are in trouble like Callnet and suchlike who have given appalling service. Seriously if you want a new ISP use this one. You won't regret it....
