By 'eck that'll be Beyerdynamic
Advantages: excellent sound, comfort and durability
Disadvantages: none at all it even blocks outside noise
...Wanting a pair of in ear headphones in a bud like shape to help remove background noise when working out in the gym and jogging along main roads the Beyerdynamic DTX 50 were recommended to me by a friend who has used them without problems for some time. Having had the opportunity to experience the sound quality prior to purchase I had no problems parting with £47 for the wired headphones that have now for over 12 months kept my tunes pumped into my head and the outside world out.
The buds sit easily in the ear and the rubber coating is really soft and acts as a barrier between the ear and the plastic sections that are really well made and rock solid which means the ultimate in comfort even when pounding away on the treadmill. The rubber also acts like a form of insulation from outside noise so even when drum and bass if banging away...

If you want sound quality, look no further
Advantages: Excellent sound quality, loud, good background noise reduction, long cable, comfortable
Disadvantages: Ugly, a little on the expensive side
...The Beyerdynamic DT100 headphones have for a long time been the industry standard headphones in sound engineering, so the DT150s, a new improved model, have much to live up to. First off, these are not small, and they aren't particularly light either. That is not to say they are not comfortable, the soft cushions fit nicely over your ears and are excellent at reducing background noise. The headband is also nice and tight, but not too much so, obviously dependant upon your head.
Neither are they the most sylish, in my opinion, in fact I would say they are positively ulgy, but I choose my equipment for performance rather than style and performance they have in spades. The bass production is by far the deepest and clearest I have heard from any headphone - it blows the competition away, simple as that. The mids and highs are also crisp...

Rediscover your music
Advantages: Build,sound quality,comfort
Disadvantages: none
...I've owned these headphones for a number of years now. I chose them because being in or around the music industry i knew that beyerdynamic was the industry standard. The BBC use mostly DT100's for example.
I paid i think £150 which to me was a lot of money for a set of headphones back then. I tried them on in the shop and instantly knew they were the headphones for me as they were so comfortable you didnt really know you had them on which is rare for a fully enclosed headphone.
On getting them home i played some pink floyd through them using a fairly high end home set up. The sound response was remarkable. There were things coming through from the music i had never even heard before. This being because of the very large frequency response. It was like discovering my cd collection again. I have also used them on hi-fi of all...

Exceptionally enjoyable listening experience
Advantages: Unbelievably clean and powerful Bass
Disadvantages: Old fashioned looks may disuade some buyers
...with a better midrange. The mid gets a bit drowned out by the beautiful bass tones in these phones so they are definately suited to dance music. However, I have seen pictures of bands using these phones (Bloc Party) and also actors (Matt Damon) wearing them during interviews in the BBC radio studio. This means they must be goodif they are trusted at that sort of level.
Durability is immense. These are tough phones that will take a battering with breaking.
Looks arent everything and that applies here. I personally like the way they resemble old fashioned audio equipment but some will find them bulky and ugly. I really dont care what people think when they see them beucase I am in a world of pleasure when they are on.
Please buy these and support Beyerdynamic becuase they truly are a quality product and can be had for about £80 which is...

Yamaha DTX Series.
Advantages: Cheaper than competitors, cheaper repairs e.t.c
Disadvantages: Not as up to date as Roland V Drums.
...I'm an owner of the now discontinued DTX V2.
An old version of Yamaha's electronic drum series. I've been playing drums for about 3 years now. And I am soon to be taking my grade 4 examination.
I think it speaks quite highly for the Yamaha DTX range that a discontinued second hand product I bought for £250 off ebay is quite simply, a great model for alot of user groups.
Yamaha DTX drums are cheaper than rolands, their current entry level model being sold at about £450 pounds as a 5 piece. Compared to Rolands entry level which is £600 for a 4 piece.
You might not get all the fancy items as the Roland but that doesn't make the DTX series any less functional.
I've used my DTX V.2 on recordings and the results have been lovely. It has a great set of sounds. About 200 for each drum with 64 preset kits and 3 user made kits. It also has...

'Fat' or 'Thin', what do you prefer?
Advantages: excellent picture quality, easy to use and set up, digital tuner
Disadvantages: possible freeview problems, takes up a lot of space
...After using a small, plain black TV for too long, we decided it was time to upgrade to a bigger, better quality screen, so at a trip down to comets picked up the Panasonic TX28DTX11 for just over £600, a little expensive considering its not a flat screen, but it is well worth the money.
The TV comes with all the necessary wires and cables to get it working, and an instalation book, i didn't use the booklet however, as i didn't see any need for it :-) After setting it up and turning the TV on, it does a channel scan, which scans for all the available channels you can get, as it finished the scan we flicked through and aswell as channels 1-5 we had more!! ITV2 + 3, BBC 3+ 4, loads of radio stations, bid up tv, UKTV history and many more. Yes, the TV comes with an intergrated digital tuner, allowing you to get Freeview channels...

One of the Main contenders in DJ headphones
Advantages: Style, comfort and ease of use.
Disadvantages: Average price??
...In my opinion there are pretty much 3 main contenders for DJ Headphones with designs that don't copy each other. Technics, Sony and Sennheiser. There are others but they are mostly just copies of Sony's MDVR 700. Such as Pioneer's HDJ1000, Stanton's DJ Pro 3000 and Beyerdynamic DJX1.
What I love about these headphones is the comfort. They really are a pair of comfortable headphones with their padded headband and nicely padded ear cups. It's not just the comfort level; it's the fact they stay on your head. When I DJ I tend to well...have a tendency to dance. This is why, for me, these headphones are great. They mold to your head and stay there, as they are lighter than most of the competition in this range as they only weigh 230g without the cord. With the rotary housing (which allows the arms to pivot at different angles and lock into...

Pearl Export ELX, my kinda kit !!!
Advantages: looks great, sounds great, durable
Disadvantages: ummmm . . . . ???? . . . I dare not
...I own a Pearl Export ELX Standard size kit and what can I say except WOW !!! I have had various kits, ok lets look back at what I had before the Pearl ELX. I had, a Simmons Electronic kit, great for that heavy 80's disco vibe. A Yamaha DTX V.2, verry cool for chruch and so on, but no real drummer plays on electronic kits. I then bought a Gretsch Catalina Birch, fusion, great kit, but it allways lacked something. I then bought a Sonor Force 2003, not bad at all, but the kick, the 16" floor and the 13" tom never quite made me jump for joy. Then I owned a Tama Superstar Custom, fusion. Verry nice kit, but I reckon if I had an extra 16" tom, the kit would have been what I wanted. Finally I saw an add of a second Pearl ELX, for R3000, roughly about a 187 pounds and what a great great kit. I put on some Evans EC2 heads and I got the best sound...

A classic design - even if it is banana shaped
Advantages: Reliable and robust with good sensitivity
Disadvantages: Limited texting facilities
...the earlier models.
Although I can?t explain the whole of the GSM standard here (it runs to many large volumes) there are three features which can help to reduce the power consumption. Firstly, and most importantly for talktime, is mobile power control. Basically the transmitter in the handset is set to use only the minimum power required at any particular time to maintain a good quality call. This means that the actual power transmitted varies depending on how good the coverage is. The greater the transmitter power, the more power used from the battery. The second feature used is called ?Discontinuous Transmit? (DTX). What this does is to only transmit from the mobile when the user is talking. This can dramatically reduce the power used during a call. During the periods when you aren?t talking the system ?makes up? background noise to reassure...
