Bic Biro
Advantages: Bic Biro
Disadvantages: Bic Biro
...Bic Biro
This product is surely something everyone has come across and it is a total favourite of mine. It has been around for many years and is popular with most school goers and workers alike.
Bic has been the leading manufacturer in stationary products for many years and has been operating since 1950. This Bic Biro Cristal BallPoint pen was added to the collection at the Museum of Modern Art of New York. Which is pretty amazing to me. Bic sold its hundredth billion ballpoint pen in 2005, which must have generated some real income for them!
Ok so this Bic biro is basically a clear plastic slightly hexagon shaped pen measuring around 12 cm with a gold coloured tip which is attached to the inside ink cartridge that is visible through the outer casing. There is a detachable lid with a air hole in the tip encase...

The Old Bic
Advantages: Cheap, reliable and easy to use
Disadvantages: None
...The Bic Biro is possibly the most recognisable pen in the writing world. Simple, unique and classic.
In 1945, Marcel Bich and Edouard Buffard bought a factory outside Paris and set up a business making parts for fountain pens and mechanical lead pencils. As the development of the ballpoint pen advances in the United States and Europe, Bich saw the potential for this new, innovative writing implement. Bich obtained the patent to a ball point pen created by a Hungarian inventor named Ladislao Biro. In 1950, Marcel Bich introduced his own ball pen, the reliable, affordable, Bic Cristal ballpoint pen.
The Bic Biro is not a complicated pen, it is essentially a plastic hexagonal tube with a cap at the end containing another plastic tube with a writing nib at the top. This tube is filled with ink. The pen, when new anyway, has a plain...

The Jester of Shaves
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Utterly useless
...the hotel's reception and borrowed one of those 1970's Bic single-blade disposable razors.
The ensuing blood bath was nothing short of ridiculous - honestly, the Bride of Chucky could have done less damage to my wonderful face - and I was only spared a further berating from my mother when my father decided to stand up during the speeches and point out to the guests that he was glad my brother had married Sarah because he'd always thought David was gay. Still, it was a bit embarrassing when my neck continued to drip blood in to the Coronation Chicken...
Later, my brother told me about this amazing razor. "It's called the King of Shaves," he said over his pint of Belhaven Best, "and it's f***ing amazing. Even better than any of that Gillette crap," he slurred, "and cheaper too."
So, when my Mach 3 blades ran out I trotted down to Boots...

Ode to a Bic Biro
Advantages: Effortlessly practical
Disadvantages: Reinforces my pen chewing habit
...Everything's alright
When I write
Black, red or blue
Line stays true
No hint of pretension
In this clear plastic shell
Used to tell
To compel
Or to quell
With the written word
Affordable
Portable
Expendable
Indispensable
A ballpoint with ageless grace
And a place
In everyday use
No matter where, when or how
It's a neat trick
Performed by this biro from Bic
Ubiquity achieved
From an idea conceived
So simply
So completely
I sit down to write
A letter
A story
Dare I say...
An ode
I don't reach for the fountain pen
Though it exudes class
I look past
The pencil is high maintenance
Never a sharp point
The page to anoint
But the Bic Biro is there
Chewed end
Battered lid
Ready to send
My thoughts into life
Thank you Bic
For being
And for seeing
The need for practicality
Embracing...

Little Bic who sings like a Bird
Advantages: Easily accessible, light, beautiful voice
Disadvantages: Less quirky than her earlier work, too melancholy for some
...Bic (pronounced Bec) Runga is a teeny tiny singer from New Zealand and Birds is her third studio album. You may have heard her song "Sway" (from her first album Drive) on the American Pie soundtrack. The album I have is imported from New Zealand; the UK release is slightly different.
This album cover isn't much to look at. You can see from the picture that it doesn't exactly reach out and grab your attention. The booklet itself, though, has some really beautiful black and white pictures of endemic New Zealand birds as well as another portrait of Bic, also in black and white. Other than that it simply has the thanks, contributors and details of booklet production - no lyrics (in case you're a singer-alonger). On the back cover is the track listing:
1) Winning Arrow
2) Say After Me
3) Listen
4) Birds
5) Ruby Nights
6) No Crying...

Whew, a close shave that was
Advantages: fairly cheap, smooth legs
Disadvantages: packaging
...blades. This evidently is in case you can?t read. But, I also think you?d need to have some skill in deciphering their pictures, because to me, there?s at least 3 blades on that picture! Again the words ?sensitive skin? adorn the front in several languages.
One of the problems I have with the Bic company is that there are no instructions whatsoever on their packets. Now I realise that it isn?t exactly difficult to shave your legs, but I can?t be the only person who struggles to take the protector off the razor?! Also, the amount of young girls I know who have tried to shave their legs only to cut them to shreds is unbelievable. Surely, if a company provides a product they should provide some basic instructions to go along with it. Ah well, moral rant against companies over...
As you might have guessed from the rant, there are no...

* A close shave too . .
Advantages: Very good for you, and for the Earth.
Disadvantages: It does cost the Earth (OK Slightly expensive)
...OK, you are lucky enough to get me doing a review from this section, I can't believe I am doing a review on something from the "Beauty" section!
The Company, American Crew, was formed in 1994, selling shampoos and shower gels, also shaving accessories of course,
This particular product is called a herbal shave cream, and I didn't realise it was "herbal" when I tried it, perhaps the aroma is not that strong, or maybe I was just missing something. I did find the shave very smooth, and my skin felt even smoother afterwards.
Small secret, I did not buy this, it was a freebie gift, from hairdrersser who got it as a sample. She has never done shaves, so it was oflittle use to her in the salon. being a woman, she could not possibly use it on herself, I suppose I would feel the same about "Lady" type shaving things. All I know is, I...

A Close Shave.
Advantages: smells great, good value for money, lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Gel can gather around the nozzle area
...I have been using the Gillette range of shower gel ever since I have enough stubble worth shaving. I came across Gillette 'Coolwave' Shaving Gel when it was on a buy one get one free offer at Tesco and have been using it ever since.
Packaging
This Gillette shaving gel comes in a canister that is primarily blue with a silver ring around the top. The lid is clear plastic and pops on and off easily. The name of the product is written across the front of the canister and on the back are directions for use, written in five different languages, along with the ingredients and the questions and comments helpline number and web address. The best before date is written across the bottom of the canister.
Price
As I mentioned earlier, I tend to do my shopping at Tesco and this product costs £1.98 for a 200ml canister. Occasionally they are...

For Ladies That Shave
Advantages: Good make, pleasant fragrance, rich and thick, moisturises
Disadvantages: None for me
...I really only bought Johnson's Silky Satin, shower and Shave Cream as it was on offer. It retailed at around £1.40 for a 250ml, plastic bottle in Netto.
The pink packaging is very reminiscent of Johnson's Baby products and very distinctive. The idea behind the product is that this body wash works as a great cleanser that offers rich moisturising for your skin and also enables you to have a great shave of your underarm area or whatever. Obviously it is designed with women in mind.
So just what do you get for your money?
The body wash is a pale, but bright, pink in colour. To look at it reminds me of the old Nulon hand cream which my Mum used. To my mind the fragrance is simply a clean, soapy, sort of smell, with a slight perfume. The consistency of the cream is rich and silky.
Put a small amount of this product onto your skin...
