...Everyone has an opinion on Big Brother, regardless of whether you watch it or not. For some, it's entertaining. For others, it's pointless TV, watched by idiots, which is taking up time and money which could be used on other shows. ~~~ What's it About ? ~~~ Basically, a group of everyday people are put into a house which is completely covered by televsion cameras and microphones. The show then runs for a number of weeks (10+). The contestants participate in daily tasks which they must complete in order to gain a reward. They also get a main task which covers a few days, which depending on their performance, either earns them a food budget to buy what they like from the shopping list or earns them rice and other basic food. Big Big Brother

Advantages: Very interesting to watch, great show and surrounding things...
Disadvantages: ...but maybe on a little too much and too addictive!

...Big Brother - originally a Dutch idea - has just hit our screens again in England for its second series. We have been bombarded with everything - 17 hours of live coverage on E4, mobile updates and all sorts of other things. I will here try to go and explore each of the different areas. The show... The programme is on most of the time - just check out E4 or Channel 4, and you'll find 'live' images coming straight from the house on a fifteen-minute time delay. You will see the contestants, described later. And this comes to you the day after Helen and Penny were put up for eviction. The House... The house was stripped to the bare minimum facilities, but, in order to make the residents feel more in the mood for sex, and therefore get more ratings because we're all so sick, the place has been brightened up to be a bit more cosy...

Big Brother has a Little Brother???

Advantages: Great if you're a fan of Big Brother
Disadvantages: Rubbish if you hate Big Brother

...Ok, bare with me, this is probably the shortest review I've written in a while...you'll understand why it's so short once you've read it, as quite frankly it could have been summed up with a four letter expletive, that rhymes with 'twit'. Big Brother's Little Brother, is basically a magazine/fanzine TV Show all about Channel4's Big Brother. The show used to be presented by the lovely Dermot O'Leary, but for the series currently on at the moment is presented by (the rather random) duo: Zezi Ifore and George Lamb. It is on TV virtually everyday, but it's popularity has dwindled somewhat along with the popularity of Big Brother. When Dermot was on the show it was on 6pm on Channel 4, but nowadays it has been relegated to E4, currently on at 6pm also. Big Brother Boredom

...This time of year has seen Channel 4 going for the New Year ratings with Celebrity Big Brother. Last year however, this all blew up in their faces when Jade Goody became a figure of hate over some comments that were made to a fellow housemate. Channel 4 were rumoured to be scrapping this seasonal Big Brother, but no, they are back with this much hyped replacement. Channel 4 and Endemol promised a new format to try and win back the droves of viewers who abandoned them. BIG BROTHER'S BARE BREASTS

Advantages: Undeniably gripping viewing
Disadvantages: Not like it used to be in the 'good old days'

...I've read a number of reviews of Big Brother 6 recently, but very few have actually given much of an opinion on the show, preferring to simply run through a list of the contestants, giving views on each of them. I'm going to attempt to break the mould and concentrate more on the show itself. Big Brother started in 2000, and was one of the first proper reality shows to grace our screens, previous shows having been more 'fly on the wall' style documentaries featuring people in real life situations - such as Airport, Driving School and the like. Big Brother? Big Bother more like.

Advantages: It's 'only' on for 3 months of the year.
Disadvantages: Tacky houses, tacky contestants, rip-off phone-ins, poor presenters, unentertaining.

...The Channel 4 reality programme Big Brother has plagued our screens for an entire decade now, and with each series it seems to get worse and worse. The basic premise is that a series of people (all of which happen to coincidentally have contrasting personalities that seem to conflict with each other during the show) are placed in a house and filmed around the clock to try and salvage some sort of cheap entertainment. As each series goes on and the popularity of the programme inevitably wanes, it is clear that the producers of the show are trying to scrape the bottom of an already empty barrel for compelling ideas that will attract viewership, and it is so obvious in fact that it fails. ...Now everyone should have heard of Big Brother (BB), especially if you read/write ops on Ciao, you cannot have missed at least one op about this brilliant (in my opinion) reality show where they put 12 housemates together in a big house and we all watch them through the many cameras all about. ...SYNOPSIS: Concept and name from George Orwell's '1984'. 12 contestants locked in a house for 10 weeks under a series of rules. Each housemate nominates 2 people for eviction each week, and the housemates with the most nominations will be put up to the public vote for the week's grand eviction.
