The assistant made sure the saddle was exactly the right height and we received a full list of what had been tested - everything from the tyre pressure to brake tightness was spot on, with a free check up being offered within 6 weeks - this we didn't take advantage of mainly as the bike was such a tight fit in our car! In one year's use of the bike, mainly at weekends, we haven't had any problems with the bike at al., though we have been sure to keep the wheels well oiled and make sure everything has been readjusted as she has grown - I leave that part to my husband I have to say. Review of Apollo XC.20 Girls Bike

Advantages: Great fun, slow, Harry loves it
Disadvantages: Noisy, siren is a pain

...would ever have considered buying for Harry myself but now I have it in my home, I am pleased that he enjoys using it so much. It is a good active toy for boys who like to play with cars and bikes, and has such a minimal speed that it'd be hard for a child to injure themselves, especially if the bike is only used indoors as ours is. If you have a small sitting room, its possibly not an ideal toy because it is quite a considerable size but we have a big enough sitting room to stick it in the corner of an evening when Harry's in bed. The battery life is very good, only needing very irregular charging, and with the charger being supplied its great value in terms of power consumption. Safety equipment should ALWAYS be used if the bike is going to be ridden outdoors and children should always be accompanied by an adult, but I'm happy for Harry to...

Review of Halfords Mini Racer Bike

Hamax Kiss and Smiley bike child seats are very good quality

Advantages: very sturdy, safe, easy to install
Disadvantages: no "sleeping position"

...Hamax is a Norwegian company specialised in bike accessories and I bought one of their child bike seats in Halfords. I bought the Hamax Kiss, very similar to the Smiley and belonging to the Basic range of Hamax. I paid £54 for it, so about £20 less than the Smiley. However, the two type of seats are very similar. The only difference I can see is that Smiley has two belt locks and Kiss only one. I originally opted to buy another brand called Belelli (that was even cheaper at £39) but that model did not fit my bike so the shop assistant offered me the Hamax Kiss. At my Halfords branch in South London they had only that Hamax model so I went for that. However, Hamax range includes also Premium and Comfort bike seats that are more expensive.
