Billy's back.....and in the buff!

Advantages: Really funny and packed full of interesting places.
Disadvantages: None

If you are already a fan of Billy Connolly then you will love this 2 disc DVD of his 'too old to die young' tour which was actually the first leg of his tour filmed in 2004 and the fourth part of his World tour. (The other 3 parts of his world tour are of Scotland, which was the first and filmed in 1994 with a 6 episodes. The second was a fabulous tour of Australia, with 8 episodes and was filmed in 1996. And the third was England, Ireland and Wales - filmed in 2001 with 8 episodes.) The disc also contains 3 bonus audio tracks: 1.Billy's Bobby, 2.Wandering Soul, and 3.Billy's Fast Waltz. The running time is 312 mins and rated 15 but if you're not used to Billy's personality, you should know that he swears ?a lot! Billy Connolly - Love Him or Hate Him.

Advantages: Hysterically Funny
Disadvantages: Lots of Bad Language - not suitable for family viewing.

Next comes a little tale of working an old people's home earlier in his career where he went down like a lead balloon, saying, "it's hard to be funny to people who are knitting and then there's the sound of boiled sweets knocking on dentures." The performance carries on with stories about the 1940s and 50s when the world was "beige" and we listened to weird music (he starts singing an old song with silly lyrics). Mind you, he adds, music since has also had its rubbish. It wouldn't be Billy Connolly without reference to flatulence - he admits himself that he has an anal fixation! His next story tells of a hospital porter who wheels dead bodies around in a wheelbarrow and talks of them breaking wind and scaring the bleep out of him in the dead of night. The Big Yin at his best

Advantages: Fantastic comedy as well as beautiful scenery of Australia
Disadvantages: Not so good if you dislike swearing

...I have always been a big fan of Billy Connolly and remember a time when he was very rarely on tv because of all the bleeps involved. Today of course swearing isn't such an outlawed thing anymore and whether that's good or bad it certainly allows us to enjoy this BBC1 series following Billy as he tours Australia and introduces us to many delightful characters and interesting facts along the way. For this isn't just about his shows - far from it. ..., and if I ever have a " down " day , ten minutes with Billy is guaranteed to have me rolling around , helpless with laughter , whether I choose the classic " Billy and Albert " , " The Pick of Billy Connolly " , " Billy Bites Yer Bum " or one of the newer world tour compilations . It's the blend of quirky thoughts , alternative views on life , harshly funny childhood memories and strange but hilarious songs that makes the trademark " Billy " session what it is . For example , his loud , gritty and passionate ( though completely sick and warped ) rendition of " Tell Laura I Love Her " which had both me and my daughter Laura in tears of laughter for so long that we had to rewind the tape by fifteen minutes to see the bits we had missed through sheer helplessness .
