It creative Problems
Review of Creative 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 Ultra by
fubb
Advantages: Best 3D by far
Disadvantages: Incompatable with a few motherboards
...Happy as I am with this graphics card….it started out as a nightmare. There is one problem with it and that is compatibility…..compatibility with motherboards.
I had a Biostar board that I had only just got because I had upgraded to a Pentium III
And that is ware (ho ho) the trouble started. There was a Warning flashing every time I booted up, it warned me of conflicts with my memory if I recall…… sorry enough of the bad jokes, this took me a life time to discover where the problem lie, finally I got an answer from Biostar, telling me that the TNT2 was incompatible with this motherboard and it seems that it is not just that board there are a few others. The problem showed as bad graphics while on the net, lack of colour and text was shot.
All that being so the TNT2 is a cracking card and is worth every penny. I just thought...

K7M Is One Of A Kind
Review of ASUS AMD 751 Chipset K7M - motherboard - ATX - AMD-751 by
Screm
Advantages: Great Design, Very Stable, Good Overclocking Potential
Disadvantages: Poor Asus Support (They Refuse It Exists)
...The first Athlon motherboards on the market were featureless, faceless drab. Early boards from MSI and Biostar features nothing but the usual configuration often seen on a cheap BX-based motherboard. The next generation, however, promises some very exciting things.
The K7M comes loaded with 5 PCI slots, 1 ISA, 1 AGP, and 3 DIMMs... this is the standard configuration for most Athlon motherboards. Other notable features include onboard audio, 4 USB ports (more on this later), an audio/modem riser port, ATA/66, JumperFree BIOS, PC 99 compliance, overclockability, and a whole truckload of capacitors.
Since the Asus K7M deviates from the Fester design by AMD (which is very primitive), it is much smaller, among other things. Problems with smaller ATX cases should disappear almost entirely with this newer design. Also, the capacitor number...

Just how much smaller can a PC get?
Review of Biostar iDEQ 210V - no CPU by
Omertron
Advantages: Very Small, Elegant, very very quiet
Disadvantages: Limited expansion capability (But then its not a server!)
...There have been many small form factor (SFF) cases around for a while now. Shuttle started the trend, and in many eyes has been eclipsed by the competition both in terms of quality and styling.
What’s a SFF?
A Small Form Factor case is a normal PC case with all of the usual components just smaller. In this instance the Biostar is 210mm x 323mm x 187mm approx. 8” x 13” x 8".
Isn’t it expensive for a small case?
That all depends on how you look at it I suppose! This case retails at about £90. For that you get the case, silent power supply, motherboard, CPU cooler (heatsink and fan) and a multi-format card reader. Separately these could cost you a lot more than that.
Is there a catch?
Well, again, that depends on how you look at it. The Biostar 210V doesn’t have the full expansion possibilities as a larger PC case would have...

Great Value Processor.
Review of AMD Duron 1.6 GHz processor by
ralvarez
Advantages: Cheap and great oveclocking ability
Disadvantages: Buy this product if you're in a tight budget but still wanted to have the speed and value.
...The AMD Duron processor is really the next generation in computing platforms, delivering extra performance for cutting-edge applications and an extraordinary computing experience. It can outperform the pentium 4 1.8 ghz in some benchmark testing.AM
I Bought this processor 6 months ago but just recently decided to overclock it. Got it up over 1.9ghz on a Jetway Mobo with no problem and the temperature goes up at around at 45 degrees celsius. (w/an OCZ Dominator heatsink .
I love this product because of it's overclocking ability. I guess no other processor can't beat the value of this processorIt's very cheap and fast. with the right heatsink and motherboard it can reach up to 2.4 ghz!!!
I told a friend to order one of these for his midrange processor coupled with a Biostar M7NCD pro, 2x256 GEIL ddr400 in dual channel and a Ge...

Seductively Black AOpens XC Cube EZ18
Review of AOpen XC Cube EZ18 - no CPU by
cybersurfur
Advantages: Extremely quite, beautiful machine
Disadvantages: CPU Cooling fan & the floppy drive connector are placed
...The latest craze in the computer world is miniture computer systems first introduced to us as the 'Shuttle' system. Since then many have taken a stab at this market and the EZ18 is AOpens answer to the call.
The EZ18 comes in two colours to my knowledge (pearl white, and slick black)so its possible to accessorise according to your personal preference. I myself went for the slick black (or piano black as my friend calls it) with the glowing blue power button. I bought mine from Microdirect for about £148.
Unlike some of its counterparts (the shuttle system, BioStar system) the EZ18 is more of a cube rather than a single story tower and it comes with the bare essentials (partly why they have been called 'barebone' systems). It comes with the motherboard which holds the sound card aswell as the on board graphics(i think its nVidia nForce 2...

The truth behind the motherboard
Review of Gigabyte GA-71XE4 by
andycapppp
Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: doesn't support UDMA 100
...This was a reasonable buy for me, it was cheap but lacked a few features. The motherboard supports U-DMA 66/33, I would recommed for the users that require spped not to go for this board and to hunt down a motherboard that supports U-DMA 100. This is the first motherboard i have had that didnt have any compatibility problems with any of the Windows platforms, once installed Windows detects all settings etc for you. Giga byte offer free bios upgrades via their web site. Overall the motherboard is very good and I would recommed it....

Good value but poor features
Review of EliteGroup P965T-A (V1.0B) - motherboard - ATX - iP965 by
neo1983
Advantages: Lowest price, stable
Disadvantages: Only basic features, nothing interessting about it, modest overclocking, modest BIOS
...I wanted a cheap motherboard for a cheap core 2 processor tine E2000 and I've noticed this cheap EliteGroup motherboard based on the great Intel 965 chipset. So I've took this motherboard from a friend's hardware store and I've started to test it.
The speed of the motherboard is good, you wont actually see a difference compared to a much expensive motherboard at the same processor speed, the EliteGroup P965T-A performs quite well, and the maximum speed difference from this motherboard and a much expensive one based on the same 965 chipsed never exceed 1-3%
Motherboard specs: While other motherboard manufacturers try to bring some differences that differentiate them from the rest of the motherboards on market(dual BIOS, WI-FI or Bluetooth connections, overclocking features,design... ) Elitegroup just focuses to deliver a decent...

Not so good.
Review of EPoX EP-4B2A2 - motherboard - ATX - i845 by
robertliu84
Advantages: It works...
Disadvantages: but not very well
...I bought this motherboard in the hope that is provided a 100Mhz FSB.
I opened it up, and then read the manual to find that the 93, and 100Mhz clock factors have a little white piece of paper over it saying that it cannot use these speeds as it is not very stable.
This motherbaord does like to crash now and then, and it the SiS chipset is not very good either.
Don't bother with this motherboard, there are plenty around that are much better.
The price was affordable though. The fastest processor supported by this motherboard is 400MHz, and is rather outdated now....

The GIGA motherboard
Review of Gigabyte GA-8KNXP - motherboard - ATX - i875P by
fairywell
Advantages: lots of features
Disadvantages: cluttered design
...The Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D is the best motherboard out there in the market today, it also has a lot of package including DPS, and a Wireless LAN card. I buy this mobo for my new Prescott 2.8 GHZ hoping that this will be the most suitable partner for my processor. The motherboard includes 4 Serial ATA cables for use with either the native ICH6 supported connections, or those provided by the additional Silicon Image SATA RAID controller.
The package also includes a single IDE cable, single floppy cable with a color gray, There are 9 USB 2.0 ports which supports IEE1394 devices. You will never run out of USB ports with this motherboard. The installation guide is quick and easy to follow especially for those novice users including me. This motherboard really has a product manual and documentation. The only bad thing that I can say about...

A great beginners motherboard
Review of ABIT SR7-8X - motherboard - ATX - SiS648 by
jonty68
Advantages: Simple, Reliable
Disadvantages: Lacking newer features
...I have very little knowledge of motherboards and what to look out for, but after searching on the Internet for a reliable, cheap motherboard, I found this and decided to purchase it. Doing this has increased my knowledge of what to look out for.
Overall, the motherboard is quite straightforward with a great instruction manual with a set up guide for all aspects of the motherboard including installation and BIOS set-up as well as a troubleshooting section. The motherboard is easy to install with a slight amount of computer experience, i.e. knowing to turn the computer off at the mains whilst installing the motherboard!
This motherboard is not very feature packed and because of this, is an excellent price. It does however support 8x agp graphic cards, which are capable of running high-end applications.
It has onboard sound which means...
