Dead Birds

Advantages: creepy, good sound
Disadvantages: slow

...time goes on they come to realise that not all is as it seems in this innocuous looking shelter and they soon begin to think that staying there may not have been a good idea. Dead Birds was recommended to me a little while ago and I decided to rent it out to see what it was like. And whilst its title is misleading I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the film, it is by no means perfect but it is far from being a complete lemon. On one side the film is fairly original in that it is set during the American Civil War, and in that whole setup looked good to me, the uniforms and the war-weary look in the people's faces all went to create a world that seemed believable and convincing, (to me at least). Birds Eye Potato Waffles

...Birds Eye Potato Waffles were first introduced on the market in 1981 and are still as popular to this day as they were back then. I always keep a pack in my freezer as they are a firm favourite of my children. They are really versatile in the sense that they can be used as an accompianment alongside most dishes. Birds Eye Waffles are rectangular in shape with a criss/cross pattern throughout. When cooked they have a golden brown, quite crispy exterior with fluffy white potato in the centre. They can be grilled, baked or fried, though I prefer grilling as this is quick to do and the healthier option in comparison to frying. Review of Mynah Birds

Bird lives!

Advantages: The music, the directing, the performances.
Disadvantages: Very depressing.

...I bought 'Bird', the Charlie Parker story from Amazon, for £5.99. Though the film was released initially in 1988 it has been quite hard to get on DVD (even though it was released in this format in 2006), for some reason, and as a big Charlie Parker fan I was thrilled to see lots of copies now available. It carries a British '15' rating. and is a mammoth 154 minutes long (yep, that is nearly three hours). Clint Eastwood directed this film, partly as a labour of love, as it was never going to be an all time best seller or break any box office records, though it did win best actor at Cannes film festival for Forest Whitaker who plays Charlie Parker. Deservedly so, as Forest Whitaker puts in a dark, moody and believable performance, even some of his sax' 'playing' looks convincing. On top of that the New York Film critics award...

bremner bird and fortune

Advantages: very funny
Disadvantages: some of the jokes are a bit long winded, and difficult to understand.

...bremner, bird and fortune having went and seen this sunday's show being filmed live at wembley park's fountain studio's (same venue as none other than the x factor), i had a mixed feeling regarding the show having watched it live. The show is in its fifth series and is a comedy production. rory bremner a more than famous impersenator and comedian. the show is supported by double act sketches from john bird and fortune. the audience was told by bremner himself, that the script for the show is effectively done at short notice in often a day or two. friday evenings audience participation is the laughter that is heard in the show broadcasted on channel four. in terms of laughter i find that on a political nature there are no comparisons. perhaps there is "have i got news for you". though for originality and fast moving...

The Soup Kitchen for Glasson Birds

Advantages: Looks lovely and is very pracical.
Disadvantages: The plastic tray can be a little light.

...My daughters call me sad!!! But I just LOVE feeding the birds that come in our garden. Before I moved here I lived in a town location and the most exotic birds we got visitng were sparrows and the dreaded starlings. But now I live in a very rural area and my property has the River Lune at my front gate and The Lancaster Canal at my back gate so we are very lucky with our feathered visitors. We joke that we spend more on feeding the wildlife ( we also have a hedgehog house were we feed our constant prickly friends and have a family of ducks who visit us daily for their meals!!) than we do ourselves - and we could just be right!!! Last year for the first time we had a family of blur tits that hatched in our nesting box and they were so very friendly, they would land on our table while we were eating...

The Early Bird

Advantages: VERY FUNNY

...NORMAN WISDOM. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Only a single feature here but it's a cracker. The Early Bird. Norman is a milkman although he seems to tend to spill more milk than actually deliver it. He is out one morning when he meets a rival milkman from the new big chain called Consolidated Dairy's. This milkman is smashing Norman's bottles and so there the war starts. He and 'Mr Grimsdale' end up at odds with the new big firm. The new milky eventually calls a truce, a pretend truce and gives Norman some apples for his horse only the apples have been 'doped' and the horse comes over all queer and has to be put to bed, Normans bed that is. This film ahs it all and is one of his best in the end it of course all comes good. The big bully consolidated dairy's end up with structural damage, the MD gets his house half wrecked and the nasty milkman...
