Birds Eye Potato Waffles
Advantages: Taste good, handy to keep in the freezer
Disadvantages: On a personal level I prefer home-made potato products
...Birds Eye Potato Waffles were first introduced on the market in 1981 and are still as popular to this day as they were back then. I always keep a pack in my freezer as they are a firm favourite of my children. They are really versatile in the sense that they can be used as an accompianment alongside most dishes.
Birds Eye Waffles are rectangular in shape with a criss/cross pattern throughout. When cooked they have a golden brown, quite crispy exterior with fluffy white potato in the centre.
They can be grilled, baked or fried, though I prefer grilling as this is quick to do and the healthier option in comparison to frying. I have tried frying them but I have found they taste more of grease than potato and this really spoilt it for me, so I tend to stick to grilling them as this maximises the taste.
They contain no artificial...

Beefy Burgers by Birds Eye
Advantages: The burgers do not shrink
Disadvantages: lots of water and fat on the tray
...I love beef burgers but I really hate the cheap brands from the supermarket as they taste like cardboard.
I don`t know if anyone has noticed but the price of beef burgers seem to be going up these days so I tend to either buy fresh burgers or when on offer Birds Eye beef burgers.
The burgers come in a cardboard box, on the front of the box is the Birds Eye logo and there is a picture of a beef burger in a roll with chips in the background.
Also on the box it says that per burger provides -
110 - Calories
0.6g - Sugars
7.9g - Fat
3.3g - Saturates
0.4g - Salt
There is no artifical colours, flavours or preservatives and you can BBQ from frozen.
Inside the box the beefburgers are covered in a plastic wrapper, I usually have to use a knife to open the wrapper.

Aye Aye Cap'n Birds Eye
Advantages: Tasty
Disadvantages: Processed
...Ah, fish fingers, where would we be without them? Down at the local chippy probably. Fish fingers are great though, aren't they? Generations of kids have grown up wolfing down these delicacies, gorging on low fat protein and omega 3 - eating healthy(ish) food without even realising it. and the great thing is they're totally sustainable - I mean, when did you last see a fish using fingers?
But now Birds Eye Fish Fingers have grown up with the arrival of pink salmon fish fingers. Salmon is brilliant. Tasty, healthy and a nice colour. I love it. So without a second thought or a backward glance these babes were quickly dumped in the shopping trolley, transported to the kitchen, fried (cos they're better that way) and sandwiched between two slices of wholemeal.
In case you're from Mars (Venus for girls) or even Neptune (see what I...

"Birds Eye potato waffles are waffly versatile!"
Advantages: Quick, easy and not too bad for the old waistline
Disadvantages: None I can think of
... BIRDS EYE POTATO WAFFLES
INTRODUCTION
I keep my freezers in the shed; one of those freezers is what I call my ?Harry Freezer?.
My ?Harry Freezer? contains, chicken nuggets, dinosaurs, fish fingers, fish cakes, smiley faces, frozen chips and potato waffles etc ? these are kept in as readiness for when my grandchildren visit, while the majority eat anything and everything, poor Harry (who has a food phobia) only eats this type of food.
POTATO WAFFLES
Potato Waffles have been a regular and popular product in Britain?s freezers since 1981.
They were famously advertised as being ?waffly versatile?; to take a look at an old 80?s video of the TV advert go here

They come in a box of 12 waffles and are found in the freezer section of the supermarket...

Birds Eye Salmon Fish Fingers : A potential treat!
Advantages: Good quality fish, no bones, no grey bits
Disadvantages: A little too dry, strongly flavoured, expensive
...I eat a lot more fish than I do meat, and am ever on the lookout for new and tasty products that I can feast on. Salmon isn't my favourite fish by any means, as I find the flavour of it a little too pungent, but as a new-ish product, Birds Eye Salmon Fish Fingers caught my eye in Sainsbury's deep freeze the other day - naturally a pack sort of jumped into my trolley!
The pack is of very similar design to Birds Eye Cod Fish Fingers, except that the predominant colour is a salmon pink. The back of the box shows nutritional information, ingredients, dietary/allergy advice, storage/cooking instructions (oven bake or grill) and basic general dietary guidelines.
I decided to oven bake a few, and have with jacket potato, peas and tomatoes. Inside the box, each fish finger is uniformly shaped, the same size as the cod variety...

Birds eye 'does my beef'
Advantages: Quick, delicious, no fatty bits, made by BirdsEye quality; inexpensive
Disadvantages: not enough in one box
...I don't usually eat beef or lamb or any kind of 'red meat' but I must say, I ADORE Bird's eye Beef slices in gravy. Main reasons?
*There's no gristle
*Really quick to cook
*Low fat and calories
*Tastes DELICIOUS
Now, I know you may be a little skeptical about 'boil in the bag'/ boxed meals but if you've read a few of my other reviews, such as the 'Youngs Cod in Butter sauce' you will have noticed that packet and boil in bag foods don't phase me and as long as they are premium brands, I'm willing to try.
I remember when I was younger, I literally grew up on mico and boil in the bag meals (we didn't have a lot of money and my mum isn't a fantastic cook). However, I began to get a taste for homemade food when I moved in with my dad and step-mum so these types of items sort of dissapeared of the menu.
We were shopping in Asda...

Get your omega 3, get a box of birds eye salmon fish fingers!
Advantages: Very delicious, great appearance, easy to prepare
Disadvantages: very processed and refined, a little expensive
...I'm not and never will be one of those people that purchase a lot of ready made and boxed foods. Although it seems the easier option when your too busy to cook a proper, healthy dinner, i always choose to ignore, easy microwavable meals.
I suppose the shock horror stories and television documentaries that show these packet foods and what disgusting extra's they add doesn't exactly help or persuade me to purchase.
But although I've never been a consumer of birds eye products, as i think their foods always look very processed and refined, the box of salmon fish fingers really caught my eye. I tried to resist the urge to shove it in to my shopping trolley, but the mouth watering picture on the front really didn't help matters. so eventually, i decided i would give it a try and see how it tasted.
The price

Potato waffles from birds eye
Advantages: Quick to cook and soft potato centre
Disadvantages: None
...When you have children you notice that you haven't got enough time in the day to do everything. I have noticed that I always seem to forget to get things out for the kids tea. I always make sure I have quick easy frozen food in the freezer so they don't have to wait forever for things to cook, as we all know children are not the most patient of creatures.
These are great for the children and I love them too. I have tried the cheaper brands but they are not as thick with potato and they do not get as crispy as the birds eye ones.
I usually cook these under the grill which takes around 8 minutes turning them half way through cooking. These can be cooked in the oven which takes around 12 minutes which is a bit better when you are cooking something with them that will take a little longer to cook but they do not crisp up as much as...

Get your birds eye on this great deal!
Advantages: Good price, nice taste
Disadvantages: High in fat and sugar
...This and many other birds eye products are currently on offer in most supermarkets for £1 per box.
For £1 you got 2 chicken breasts which are approximately 160 calories and 9g of fat per serving.
Upon opening the cardboard box (which can be recycled), you are met with two chicken breasts which do not look much like the picture on the box (very red on the box but a little plain looking upon opening).
The breasts and just standard chicken breasts covered with sprinkles of red and green peppers.
To cook the breasts you put the oven on gas mark 5 for 25 minutes but I cooked mine at gas mark 6 for 25 minutes as I was also making wedges with it and I wanted to ensure that everything was cooked thoroughly.
Once cooked the breasts looked a lot more apetising and you could really see the colour of the red and green peppers.
I served our...

Not birds eye's finest
Advantages: quick to make
Disadvantages: hardly any sauce
..., featuring the Birds eye logo and a picture of the finished product on the front. The only negative thing I can think to say, is that as they are made of puff pastry, sometimes when you take them out of the box you find that they have been knocked together in transit somewhere, and parts of the pastry have cracked away, which proves a nuisance when you come to cook them.
~Price and Availability~
I bought these from Iceland where they cost £1.99 for two. This, I think, is quite expensive, so I will only buy these occasionally, as for just under £1 each if I was eating them on a regular basis it could work out expensive.
~Overall Verdict~
The taste of these is pleasant enough, although I think they could do with a bit more sauce and a bit less pastry. I only buy these once in a blue moon, and they're OK, on a very occasional basis, but...
