Advantages: Very light and easy to use.

Bringing up 3 youngsters I shudder to think what lurks under my Shag Pile. So an impulse buy really, the idea being that hiring a cleaner wouldn't be very satisfying if that tummy bug comes back or my youngest fails his potty training test. I was quite impressed by how well it locked together with the minimum of assembly required. A Phillips screwdriver and three screws and you are there. The unit comes with a goodly supply of cleaning fluid, four bottles of carpet shampoo and two bottles of hard floor cleaner. Bissell Proheat Takes the strain and the stain!

Advantages: Works very well on your floors

...with commonsense instructions on how to get the best out of your machine and from your carpets, too! There are a number of features on the machine that prove to be very useful additions. The DirtLifter PowerBrush, for example, does exactly what it says. The instruction booklet says that it is designed specially to lift out "deep down dirt" whilst at the same time "gently grooming carpet fibres." It works! Stretches of fitted carpet that looked very much the worse for wear (the cleaner had hidden them by moving large items of furniture and hiding the dirt!) looked like new. You fill the machine with water from your hot tap (so that it is not too hot) with the Bissell cleaning liquid and the machine then heats the mixture up to the required temperature. Bex Bissell carpet washer

Advantages: Really deep cleans and deodorises carpet
Disadvantages: Machine is heavy if you have to lift it

...I have had my Bex Bissell carpet washer for six months and it is very difficult to describe how good it really is. I have two big dogs ( dobermans), hence eight muddy feet, plus my husband ( I often think he must have eight muddy feet as well, the mess he makes and although I have stone floors in the utility areas to 'save' my carpets, they do get really soiled on occasion. Hiring a carpet cleaner I have done this several times and the machines have been fine, but they do not dry the carpets enough, and they are quite expensive. (£45 a day, plus the costs of the shampoo and defoamer). The Bex Bissell This is an upright machine and it looks like a slightly bigger than average upright vacuum cleaner. ...it is for these, but the instructions do say do not us on hardwood floors. I am very happy with the performance of my Bissell PowerWash ProHeat and can thoroughly recommend this to other people wanting to clean up their carpets and fabric upholstery....

Using the Bissell Lift Off.

Advantages: Good on carpets and hard floors.
Disadvantages: Heavy to carry upstairs as a complete unit.

...carpets. ** Opening the box** The first thing you notice is that you need to put it all together. The instructions are very clear. You need to put the handle on, screw the tool holder on, and you are ready to go. To put it together you will need a cross-head screwdriver for the 4 screws! You need to thread the power cable through a slot in the tool holder ? to my mind this is the one area they haven?t thought about. As Bissell is an American company, it was obviously designed with American plugs in mind, so it is a bit of a fiddle getting the standard UK 3-pin plug through. The power cable is quite long 30 feet, which I think is a good thing for any type of cleaner. There is also a built in hose, for use with the crevice tool, and the upholstery tools. This hose can be wrapped around the tool holder using the guides provided...
