Hmmm is it going to blow?

Advantages: Cleans hard floors very well.
Disadvantages: Only lasted 3 months, expensive shampoo and Noisey!

...Hello everyone and welcome to this review. So what is a Bissel Carpet washer? Bissel has been a known company for around 130 years, they create many types of cleaning machine such as vacuums and carpet washers. Bissel believe their carpet washers are the best and are designed to clean efficiently and beat any dirt that may be lingering in your carpets! Before we owned our lovely Vax we bought this carpet washer. Bissel have a good name for their cleaning products and I really thought we were getting a bargain for £89 in the Empire Direct catalogue. The description promised a very light and easy to use machine with fabulous cleaning power, it also stated that it was suitable for hard floors which was great for us as most of our floors are Oak. We went online and bought this machine and two days later it had arrived. What was...

Whose got dirty carpets ?

Advantages: Good price , quick and easy to use , not heavy , fairly tough ,results
Disadvantages: Cannot be used on stairs

...A couple of years ago , already being the owner of a Vax carpet cleaner , I was browsing our local Tradex and spotted the Bissell vacuum carpet shampooer for £69 . Now I knew that was a good price as I had seen them around other stores and catalogues but I wasn't sure if it was a 'seconds' . The assistant insisted it was not and was just a bargain so I investigated further . By this period of time we had two dogs who although quite clean pooches still managed to tramp some mess in , knock stuff over , let alone the people mess that happens , as they say . The Vax was and is brilliant but it's not a really quick shampooer to get up and running . Many years ago I had a Bex Bissell manual carpet shampooer which I bought from a friend for 50p . Yes 50p . It was really good although it did leave the carpets a bit wet to say the least . I...

Who Want's To Have A Good Wash???

Advantages: You won't believe the dirt that comes up.
Disadvantages: Expensive for level of cleaning.

...Having five kids and three cat's two of the children being babies in the house our carpets do get very grubby indeed with mud and all sort's being ground into the carpet on a regular basis, we also had a problem when Rhegan was potty training as he would always have little spills here and there leaving the carpet with little wet patches. The little spillages was the final straw to us deciding to invest in a carpet cleaner. The Dyson we have is great for dust and dirt but it's by no means a carpet cleaner so we went out to Comet to find a carpet cleaner that would do the job. We explained to the assistant in the shop why we wanted a carpet cleaner and the sort of grime we wanted to clean and he suggested the Bissell 1950E which is purely a carpet cleaner and he said it would be good for the grime we wanted to remove and keep clean. We...

I'm gonna wash that dog right out of my carpet!

Advantages: It certainly cleans the carpet
Disadvantages: Small tank, it needs changing alot.

...Silly me, I loaned my Vax Rapide out to my partner's daughter, thinking there'd be no problem getting it back. A few days later - partner falls out with daughter, 5 weeks later - no carpet washer - carpets nearly walking out of the door! Having 2 children and four large dogs, I need to wash our carpets at least once a week, especially in Winter. Due to it not being my fault for losing my cleaner (apart form letting it go out of the house in the first place) I made my partner buy me a new one, after much nagging, we couldn't afford to spend alot as we've had lots of expenses these last few weeks, but something is better than nothing. Enter the Bissell Quick Wash 1950E It's the same size as an average upright cleaner. It has an electric blue colour plastic see-through tank at the front to hold the dirty water, a white...

Clean up with Bissell

Advantages: Very light and easy to use.
Disadvantages: Not heavy duty, pointless on hard floors.

...I got the Bissell Quick Wash after spotting it in Tesco for a measly 70 quid. We have been planning to clean our carpets for some time. Bringing up 3 youngsters I shudder to think what lurks under my Shag Pile. So an impulse buy really, the idea being that hiring a cleaner wouldn't be very satisfying if that tummy bug comes back or my youngest fails his potty training test. I was quite impressed by how well it locked together with the minimum of assembly required. A Phillips screwdriver and three screws and you are there. The unit comes with a goodly supply of cleaning fluid, four bottles of carpet shampoo and two bottles of hard floor cleaner. This was a bit annoying as I had bought some extra, it doesn?t state they are included on the box. Although the unit is intended for carpet cleaning primarily it does come with a hard...

The Bissell 'Powerforce' (It sucks well)

Advantages: Great suction, Reliable, easy to use
Disadvantages: Not much fun carrying up stairs, Noisy

...About 6 months ago I brought a Bissell 6594E vacuum. Thought about getting a dyson but after seeing the price I brought one of these instead. I was a bit unsure when I first saw the Bissell because it's not a manfacturer that I was acquainted with. If like me your wondering about 'Bissells' credentials and heritage here's a bit about the founders of the company, Ana and Melville Bissell. The story of Bissell In 1872 and Ana and Melville were running a crockery shop in michigan, USA. The crockery came packed in crates of sawdust and it was Ana's frustration with the sweeping up of that sawdust that caused Melville to invent a carpet cleaner device. The first 'Bissell' factory was opened in 1883. On Melville's death, Anna Bissell took control of the expanding bissell business, becoming one of America's first female corporate...

Carpet cleaner

Advantages: Inexpensive, Well made
Disadvantages: Bissell products not available over the counter locally

...- for a price. Loading the machine with new fluid is easy, there is a clear plastic tank on the back which lifts straight out. Tip it flat unscrew the plug. The plug doubles as a measure. Two full measures, tip it in, fill to the line with hot water and push back in. The "dirty" tank is held on with two clips at the side the handle has to be leant back, but it comes off easily enough, tip it away and continue. The risk of spillage from the dirty water seems slight - so thats an improvement on other makes too. There is an offer at the Bissel website at present that offers a third bottle of cleaner with every two bought. - seems a reasonable deal. There does not seem to be enough fluid in the tank compared to other machines, but when it is easy to change the dirty water and renew the fresh it is not really a problem. There is a sample bottle...

Bissell Proheat Takes the strain and the stain!

Advantages: Works very well on your floors
Disadvantages: None noticed

...The Bissell ProHeat is a truly wonderful device. We moved into a new house, recently. It was a show home and we were assured that it had been cleaned to a "high standard" by the cleaner who had worked for the developers for nearly 20 years. Well, doubtless she'd turned up every day, but I would be surprised to find out if she had done any cleaning throughout the entire 20 years. The carpet, in short, was decidedly grubby after been walked on by all and sundry for the two years that it had served as a show home. What to do? Hire a carpet cleaner at £60 to £70 per day (plus the deposit) or buy a carpet cleaning system? We decided to go for the latter option and looked around for a carpet cleaning system. After looking round and seeing what was available, we decided to plump for the Bissell ProHeat II. It cost is £168.00 from...
