Advantages: Heats to steam quickly - probably heat of kills germs as steam is hot
Disadvantages: Leaves floors very, wet. End up double cleaning everything - covers poor - waste of space!

...Not impressed with the H20 steam mop product, which falls far short of the detailed TV advert performance. On hard floors it leaves them sopping wet, not so much of a problem on a matt finish amtico type floor but with laminate, there's no way you could leave it . Ended up with twice the work, having to use my superwonder mop to wipe all excess water to leave floor with decent finish when dry. Even on clean carpet which is just being freshened to kill any germs that might be in the carpet, it seems to roll any dirt in almost fluff balls which then have to be vacuumed again when it dries. It seems to double the work involved whatever the surface. The covers provided are also pretty poor in fit and quality with a tendency to come off - difficult to put back on with heat. Advantages: Very light and easy to use.
Disadvantages: Not heavy duty, pointless on hard floors.

Something to get steamed up about

Advantages: No need for chemicals or detergents

...My first introduction to the Polti Vaparetto was at Downtown Superstore, Grantham. Lincs. I was having a browse around and came across a demonstration of this steam cleaner. This machine cleaned everything imaginable and it was all done by steam with no addition of detergents and chemicals , thus sterilising as you go. When the lady demonstrator got to the ironing part she was suddenly enveloped in clouds of billowing steam and when it came to ironing shirts, she just hung them on a hanger and pointed the iron at them and, viola, creases dropped out as if by magic. I am a demonstrator's dream as I only have to look and I see, I lust, I crave and if cash permits, I buy. As this machine cost £349.99, I didn't have enough loose change in my pocket (OK, truth be told, I didn't even have it in my bank account) buying it...

Bissell Proheat Takes the strain and the stain!

...-line, from various outlets, also on major auction sites, look out for buy now prices, some are offering a much cheaper deal than others. I have had Bissell products in the past, and if this machines continues to do as well as its started, I can see no reason as to why I wont have from them in the future. As a house proud women I highly recommend this product, especially for Family households, with kids and pets etc. P.s I paid £218 for mine....

Bex Bissell carpet washer

Advantages: Really deep cleans and deodorises carpet
Disadvantages: Machine is heavy if you have to lift it

...I have had my Bex Bissell carpet washer for six months and it is very difficult to describe how good it really is. I have two big dogs ( dobermans), hence eight muddy feet, plus my husband ( I often think he must have eight muddy feet as well, the mess he makes and although I have stone floors in the utility areas to 'save' my carpets, they do get really soiled on occasion. Hiring a carpet cleaner I have done this several times and the machines have been fine, but they do not dry the carpets enough, and they are quite expensive. Disadvantages: Heavy and cannot be used on hardwood floors.
