The service from Al was impeccable, we were never rushed, he never hovered around us, yet he managed to make sure everything was enjoyable and chatted with us for a while between courses which made us feel relaxed and very welcome. The layout of the bistro is elegant. Subdued lighting (without being too dark) helped to add to the atmosphere of luxury and comfort. The tables were all well spaced with plenty of room between them and the chairs themselves were v comfortable, I've never noticed the chairs in a restaurant before! ...Our favourite Brighton restaurant is Bistro Vino in Preston Street - close to the sea front & the main shopping street. We have returned several times to Bistro Vino on our day trips to the coast - the service there is excellent. We have experienced a warm, friendly atmosphere each time. ...Our favourite restaurant in Brighton ! Bistro Vino has a friendly atmosphere, fabulous food and is outstanding value for money. Located in Preston Street, its a stone's throw (or should that be pebble's throw!) from the sea front, next to the main shopping street. The fayre is Italian, with fresh seafood a speciality, of course. But the special Menu of the day is a real bargain, and all the food is of the highest standard. ...The first time we chose to stay in this particular hotel (a couple of years ago) was because it was ideally situated for our purposes. We were traveling to Poland after flying to Franfurt/Hahn airport and it was a convenient distance to split our journey, and at a very competitive price. We must have been pretty satisfied with it as when we were planning a tour of Germany in September, we had no hesitation in using this hotel again. The hotel is located in a peaceful setting on the edge of farmland about half a mile from the Eisenach East junction on the A4 autobahn. It's very easy to find as it's well signposted from the exit ramp. On a quiet road, it is around a quarter of a mile or so from a shopping mall with a good selection of bars and restaurants. ...personally would much rather be in a busy restaurant than an empty one anyway. Decor The decor itself is quite basic so not much can be said really, white walls, red flagged stone floor, I like this as it seems to have a touch of authenticity about it. Also on the walls are cartoons connected with food and are fairly subtle, there are also pictures of regular customers enjoying there meals here which adds a nice touch I think. The tables and chairs are wooden, very rustic and just what you'd expect to find in a typical bistro- no white linen table cloths here then! Staff = I love the staff here, its all very informal, friendly and polite, on my first visit I felt right at home as the husband and wife team(owners) along with the rest of the waiters treat you like old friends and are very welcoming. ...La Poule Au Pot is a super place for a real french meal. There are many restaurants in London that serve french food, Gordon Ramsey, all the Conrans pretty much, in other words a fair few to pick from. What stands out about La Poule Au Pot is that is actaually a proper french restaurant in that you couldnt mistake the country you are supposed to be tasting the cusine of. From the first site of the restaurant you know its supposed to be French, rustic is the word that springs to mind in terms of theme. The staff are all french and read all the specials in french, and then translate if you like. The inside of the restaurant is wooden floored with various french themed decorations around the restaurant, flowers, onions etc....it certainly isnt a modern restaurant to look at. ...like this, you DO NEED a balcony - since it is nice to have some chilled out space away from all the uncontrolled kids running around up on the deck areas. The balcony had 2 wooden chairs, not deck chairs or sun loungers since the balcony was too small to sunbath on. We had a few problems with the plumbing whilst on board, the toilets wouldn't flush for a while one day and one evening there was no hot water. There was also a "Costa Brava"-style smell of sewage as you walked down the corridor. The general condition of the ship is quite good, but I would equate the facilities closer to a "cruise-ferry" than a "cruise-ship". I say that because I have many times travelled on the overnight ferries between Norway and Denmark, and I have to say, that the facilities on board those "ferries" in many ways equals or exceeds the quality... ...London the great capital city of the world, with so many people and so many places to visit and see, and yet every eatery that we tried to get into was full to the brim with people who were fulfilling their hunger pangs! Some of course were just chatting over a cup of coffee following the meal, but nonetheless they were still taking a chair, and giving the impression of the eateries being full. Being in the vicinity of Covent Gardens, we were happy when we came across some empty tables outside a restaurant – which as it happens was dead opposite a Sainsbury’s local. Being the ever adventurous with my food tastes, I studied the menu for something that looked remotely edible.
