The Best Restaurant in Brighton
Review of Bistro Vino, Preston Street, Brighton by
maryjo
Advantages: quality of food, location
Disadvantages: none
...Our favourite Brighton restaurant is Bistro Vino in Preston Street - close to the sea front & the main shopping street. We have returned several times to Bistro Vino on our day trips to the coast - the service there is excellent. We have experienced a warm, friendly atmosphere each time. The menu is varied with local fresh fish a speciality. The set menu offers a good choice and is exceptional value for money.
After a wonderful meal at the Bistro Vino, a stroll along the sea front is always the perfect way to end our day in Brighton....

Bistro to amaze
Review of Bistro Lyonnais by
mookiepunk
Advantages: Cosy with great service and food
Disadvantages: Can be a bit cramped at times
...sauce, it is really tender and full of flavour. Puddings are in the same price range as the starters and you’ve just got to have the Tart au Citron, so zingy and fresh its making my mouth water just thinking about it.
We’ve been a few times and our valentine’s meal there was very special. The setting was very romantic and the staff very attentive but if you’re planning on going you must book up well in advance as something as good as this often fills up quickly.
So if you fancy something intimate and French try Bistro Lyonnaise after all at only £30-35 a head you can’t go wrong. Check out their website for contact details and most of all enjoy.

Bistro 1, No 1 for value
Review of Bistro 1, Covent Garden, London by
duskmaiden
Advantages: bargain prices, good location, nice food
Disadvantages: portions might be small for some people, mix up with our order
...seemed quite plain and understated and there are tables outside to sit and watch the world go by which would be lovely on a sunny summer day. I did find the tables quite packed together so there was not much room to move about. I am not sure if this would be good for a really intimate dinner as someone might easily overhear your sweet nothings. There was a bowl of tasty fresh seeded bread and yummy olives on the table ready for us to pick at before we settled down to eat proper.
The good thing about Bistro 1 is that there are no ala carte menus. The set dinner menu is £8.90 for two courses and £9.90 for three. If you are in the area for lunch the prices are even lower. You can get two courses for £6.50 and three for £7.50. This is a bargain when you consider you can spend £3 or £4 on a sandwich. (There is a £2 supplement for four...

Brighton's best bistro
Review of Bistro Vino, Preston Street, Brighton by
maryjo
Advantages: price, fabulous food
Disadvantages: none
...Our favourite restaurant in Brighton ! Bistro Vino has a friendly atmosphere, fabulous food and is outstanding value for money. Located in Preston Street, its a stone's throw (or should that be pebble's throw!) from the sea front, next to the main shopping street. The fayre is Italian, with fresh seafood a speciality, of course. But the special Menu of the day is a real bargain, and all the food is of the highest standard.
A charming bistro - perfect after a busy day on the beach or shopping.
And then, why not do as we do, and take a lesiurely stroll along the seafront to walk off a wonderful meal....

Blues Bargain
Review of Blues Bar & Bistro, London by
SP
Advantages: great pre-theatre food at bargain price
Disadvantages: slowish staff
...Nice find this restaurant.....situated in Soho and handy for the main tourist & entertainment drag (Leicester Square, Covent Garden etc) Blues is haven of calm in a busy, busy area
Set in an expanse of steel and lots of beech with calming colours and a cream & blue colour theme the restaurant offers a daily 3 course special (pre-theatre times) for only a tenner! The choice is good - although portions a touch on the 'nouvelle cuisine' side - and the quality excellent
Modern British style of cuisine is to be found (french influenced) with good fresh produce featuring highly...nice wine selection, heavy on a quality Oz selection but not heavy on the wallet..especially for central london.
Staff were brisk and efficient when booking (e-booked) but a bit slow on the delivery for a pre-theatre customer - may have been the kitchen staff...

A bit of everything for everyone.
Review of Menorca (Spain) by
jinky
Advantages: Suitable and safe for all ages. A fantastic destination for a holiday, it has everything you need.
Disadvantages: There is no coast road so island journeys can be disjointed. Pack for all weathers, it can be quite wet during some parts of the summer.
...Menorca has everything you need in a holiday. Warm climate, long sandy beaches, clear blue sea and cheap food and drink!
Unknown to most, Menorca has a wild night-life, you just need to know where to look. I can paticularly recommend going down the Port of Mahon on a Saturday night. It is miles of discos, restaurants and bars open until breakfast and beyond! If you are looking for a quiet holiday then this is the place, but hidden among the quiet daytime bistros are night bars with great atmospheres, friendly people and fast flowing alcohol. Beware, the prices are a little more than the bars in resort and outside the capital and but its worth it to enjoy a typical Menorquin night out!
There are several discotheques, Cova D'en Xoroi in Cala'n Porter is a tourist attraction by day and a party zone at night with foam parties usually...

Small and friendly
Review of Marseille by
cpwill
Advantages: small, friendly, good facilities
Disadvantages: none
...Flying from Gatwick to Marseille (Mariagne) with BA for the first time alone, I was rather nervous about what the airport at Marseille would be like.
My daughter was working in France and was meeting me at Marseille airport but would not be in time to meet the flight, so I would have a short wait.
I am one of those people with not much of a sense of direction and can have my confidence easily chipped away by anything unfamiliar, but as it turned out Marseille airport is a surprisingly small and quite friendly airport.
We landed in the afternoon and had only a short wait for the carousel with our baggage to claim. Then after a walk through customs we were through into the main waiting and check in areas of the airport.
There are two small bistro cafes with a range of refreshments at a fairly reasonable price, both have waiter service...

On the sunniest night of the year...
Review of Waterside Bistro, Edinburgh by
ShoppingGirl
Advantages: Awesome fresh food, great prices, idyllic waterside setting
Disadvantages: The midges!!!
...When you get to my age (32), the thought of celebrating your birthday with a monumental piss-up just doesn't have the same appeal as it used to. So I informed my boyfriend that this year, we would be marking the event with a lovely meal in a tranquil setting, instead of with cheap vodka in a filthy, smoky boozer.
I researched the options for out of town, alfresco sunshine dining and came up with the same advice time and time again - go to the Waterside Bistro! I had vague memories of going there as a kid and playing on the grass beside a river, but hadn't revisited as a grown up.
When I phoned to book a table, I was told that if I wanted to dine in the Bistro (as opposed to the infinitely posher and more expensive Restaurant) then no reservation was necessary unless my party was of six or more people. I was slightly anxious about...

A Comfort(able) Hotel in Eisenach
Review of Comfort Hotel, Eisenach by
proxam
Advantages: Well situated, cheap and clean
Disadvantages: Not at that price
...The first time we chose to stay in this particular hotel (a couple of years ago) was because it was ideally situated for our purposes. We were traveling to Poland after flying to Franfurt/Hahn airport and it was a convenient distance to split our journey, and at a very competitive price.
We must have been pretty satisfied with it as when we were planning a tour of Germany in September, we had no hesitation in using this hotel again.
The hotel is located in a peaceful setting on the edge of farmland about half a mile from the Eisenach East junction on the A4 autobahn. It's very easy to find as it's well signposted from the exit ramp. On a quiet road, it is around a quarter of a mile or so from a shopping mall with a good selection of bars and restaurants.
The reception area was welcoming enough and the bar and bistro were adjacent. I...

Excellent for a business trip or weekend break
Review of Yorkshire (England) by
jennysue
Advantages: The welcome, the prices, the good food
Disadvantages: Easy to get lost on the way - maps on the website
...that all the other rooms are equally well-appointed.
There is a big comfortable bar area, and two eating options. Either dine bistro style in the bar, or more luxuriously in the Rivendell restaurant - you will be able to choose from the specials menu in either, plus sandwiches and snacks in the bistro. Decorations carry on the Tolkien theme with pictures and little wooden table plaques with characters from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
We had dinner in the restaurant - on the main menu there is a good choice of starters including home-made soup, main courses (lamb, duck fish and vegetarian) and hot and cold desserts, all generous helpings with vegetables included in main course prices.
We couldn't manage a full bottle of wine although the list looked excellent, John had a couple of pints of well-kept Tetley bitter, and I enjoyed...
