Black And Decker PV 1205 Cyclonic Dustbuster Pivot

Advantages: Reliable, Trustworthy and High performance
Disadvantages: Doesn't vacum plaster dust well

...I was delighted when my husband bought the Black and Decker PV1205B Dust buster for my birthday. Whilst the price might seem high anything with lower voltage is a waste of time and money. Lower voltage dust busters just don't work you need something with a bit of power, one that performs well and does the job you need it to do. The Black and Decker PV1205B Dust buster is powerful, practical and efficient basically you cannot go far wrong in purchasing this and I would recommend it to anyone. My dust buster has always been reliable and it has never let me down yet. It makes the perfect gift for any occasion and will last for years. Black and Decker Hammer Drill

...This hammer drill is great as it good quality and easy to use (a must for me). It has all the standard features you would expect from hammer dills. To prove how good quality Black and Decker are I still have my dads old drill which must be over 10 Years old and its still in working order. I reason I got a new one was that the old one was a bit basic and did not have all the gadgets that the new versions have on them. It was also really good Value for money. I would buy it again...

Review of Black & Decker DR402K - Hammer Impact Drill

Best cordless I've ever seen

...This is without doubt the best cordless drill I've ever seen in this price range. I moved house earlier this year. My new house needed quite a lot of work, so I thought I would invest in a cordless drill / screwdriver. I already have a power drill but it's inconvenient having to plug it in wherever you go. I looked at (and tried out) quite a few drills before I settled on the HP188FSB Firestorm. It has a 18V battery and charger - which makes it more than powerful enough for most drilling tasks. I would recommend going for as high a voltage as possible - anything less than 14V will struggle to drill into brickwork. This drill flies through brick, cement, even thick concrete - no problem. There is also a spare battery with the drill - very handy when doing a lot of work. One battery doing work, and another on charge. Not that...

Hammer your way through 80 pounds.

Advantages: A good drill
Disadvantages: none

.... The speed ajusts accordingly. The option of clockwise and anti clockwise motion allows you to screw in and out. The torque settings allow you to screw things in and out at several different levels. If you have it on Maximum slippage, It might not screw bolts in all the way if it gets a bit tight but it wont break your wrist when it gets stuck either. Charging time is not a major factor. 4 hours will do to charge and it will last ages. I can work for about 4 hours of constant drilling and fixing with mine. The drill itself is not too heavy either. Most cordless jobs any tail heavy due to the battery. Being Versapack, I can take it our and use it in my other cordless appliances. If only I had some. its a lot of money at £80 but you know it will last as its Black and Decker....

Black & Decker Pivot Vac - an excellent machine

Advantages: Easy to use, empty and maintain - does what it says, and does it well.
Disadvantages: I've not found any yet

...Black & Decker 1205B 12V Pivot Vac. £59.77 from Argos A small cordless vacuum cleaner. It lives in its charger/base, which can be screwed to the wall, but is small enough just to sit on the worktop (unlike other cordless vacs, it stands on its end, so takes up very little space). The base needs to be near a 13A socket, but it doesn't need to be plugged in all the time, as a full charge gives plenty of suck-time (I have not timed it). The instructions (as is Black & Decker norm) are detailed, easy to understand, and helpful. The rotating nozzle may seem like a gimmick, but it makes the device very good at vacuuming on high surfaces (e.g. cupboard tops) and low inaccesable spots. There are two speeds, but usually the lower one is fine. The spout is telescopic, and there is a little brush that can be clipped into the end...

First of all I have to say im liking the colour scheme on this drill, I know that hasnt got anything to do with DIY but I had to say it. Of course it does its job, replacing the screw driver for all those tough jobs, such as hanging up pictures. looking at the drill itself there are lots of things that make you life easier. When inserting a drill bit you simple unscrew the end to release the holding mechanism and pop the drill bit in, bu whats clever is its magnatised so its easier to insert and do up if youve only got one hand free. Usable but feels a bit flimsy

...I have a 12V cordless hammer drill/screwdriver from Black and Decker. It has a 1.7 Ah battery which lasts a reasonable time for DIY projects, although it is worth charging it first before you start. It has a smart fast charger which charges the battery in 1 hour from flat. It detects when the battery is charged and switches to trickle charging. The battery stays reasonably cool when its charging (which is good) although the charger itself gets quite warm and has an electrical smell. The drill itself is powerful enough for me to use it most of the time. I now only get my corded drill out if I'm doing a lot of drilling into masonry, or if the masonry is very hard brick or has bits of flint in it (eg concrete lintels). IMHO, for a cordless drill you definitely want a keyless chuck as they are tight enough for most of the time...

Black and Decker: A sting in the tail

...Being a gadget lover I bought my black and decker scorpion about 5 years ago. At the time it was the only electic saw that I could find and I had a big DIY job to do at home. The saw itself comes with three blades; one for wood, one for metal pipes and plastics and a third somewhat flexible blade for use as a jigsaw. So this is really three saws in one. The blades can be changed by simply pressing a safety catch on the side, removing the old one and sloting in the new one. The metal and wood blades fit in one direction whilst the jigsaw blade fits in at a 90 degree angle for obvious reasons. To start the saw you need to press two buttons rather like you do with lawnmowers. Its a safety precaution to ensure it isn't set off accidently.
