Easy way to save space and gain fitness
Review of York 250 Sit-up Bench by
Stevey101
Advantages: Simplistic, easy to store
Disadvantages: -
...part of your body ache.
I find the bench better than the benches gyms provide. At my local gym, the benched are very worn down and the ankle supports no longer work, where as with your own York fitness bench, you will be satisfied!
To suit your needs, the bench can also for adjusted for the begginers of abdo training, and also for the experts. Personally, i started off at a small incline, but found the angle changing rapidly due to the ease of the bench.
The sit up bench not only is good for the basic use, it comes with a variety of other excersizes your can do. I tried all of them initially, and i have come to a favourite three. The easy to follow instructions are inside your box and believe me, they are EASY to follow.
York fitness is a branded fitness name, as soon as you see their logo, you know the product will be of good quality. I...

Decent board for new weight lifters
Review of York DB5 Bench by
srtom
Advantages: Good bench for beginners, Sturdy, Stood the test of time, Potential for many exercises
Disadvantages: Problems occur with heavy weights (n/a for beginners), Fairly expensive
...for Dumbell fly’s etc – the solid shape of the bench affords a good shape for dumbbell fly’s in particular, however the incline bench feels a little strange compared to those in gyms.
Decline Bench for Lower chest exercises – ditto for the bench declined, I personally prefer using a gym for lower chest exercises.
Vertical Bench for Shoulder Press etc – my legs felt a bit strange due to the shape of the bench being either side while I did sit down military presses, not so good for the more heavy weights but still alright for beginners.
Abdominal Board for Sit-ups and Leg raises – very good for abdominal exercises and “feels” right when they are carried out as it should. Only low weight can be used for leg raises and again dedicated machines work better at the gym.
To conclude, this bench is a pretty good one for beginners but should only really...

Indecent Exposure - Tom Sharpe
Review of Indecent Exposure - Tom Sharpe by
micksheff
Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Crude, Lots Of Bad Language
.... This therapy involves rounding up anyone that is suspected of having trans racial sexual tendencies and showing them Pictures of naked Black Girls whilst subjecting them to a series of electric shocks. Obviously the best time to carry out such experiments is whilst the Kommandant is away.
To say that the Lieftenents experiments do not go to plan would be an understatement but the results are hilarious all along the way. The Kommandant returns from his Vacation to rioting on the Streets and absolute chaos. He also finds that the half of his force, the ones that have been experimented on are now homosexual.
The style of writing throughout this Book is very humorous and I found myself getting quite a few odd looks as I read it on my journey to and from Work on the Buses. There are certain sections where I simply could not stop myself from giggling...

Work it baby Work it on my bench.
Review of York 9300 enforcer Bench by
andycharger
Advantages: Comfortable strong and rigid
Disadvantages: Price
.... They start as little as about £50 though and go up to £350+!!!
So what is my bench made of?
It is made from Rigid steel Tubing that can easily support the weight of yourself and the weights you are going to lift. This can be an extreme amount of combined weight so you need to know its strong enough to take it. This copes easily with no breakable components.
The feet for the legs are covered in rubber to prevent slippage when working out and damage to your floor.
The part you lie on is a cushioned board covered in wipe clean vinyl. Good for getting the sweat off and very comfortable and grippy. There are no sharp edges to irritate or rub you during exercise.
What does it do?
Well it something you work on rather than do. It has many different parts to it though for the different exercises. Firstly, mine has a split level cussion so the back can...

Throne for the Garden gnome!
Review of Alexander Rose Hardwood Garden Furniture by
jo145
Advantages: Beautiful hardwood bench
Disadvantages: Not cheap
...We recently had a new patio built and I had hoped to do a review but haven’t discovered a suitable topic in which to write about it, but as we have been enjoying sitting out in the sunshine we decided that we needed some more up-market garden furniture and so it’s about the garden bench that I am going to tell you about today.
I wanted a table, chairs and umbrella, but it would probably cover the whole patio and then you wouldn’t be able to admire the lovely pattern! So I agreed with my husband (unusually for me!) and we went looking yesterday for a bench instead. I had looked in the Argos book but as you can’t actually see the item before you buy it, we were a bit wary and so went to Homebase as they were advertising 10% off today and although the better half was working if we choose something I planned to go today to buy it, save 10...

Review of 1984 - George Orwell by
noodle.gorillaz
Advantages: \
Disadvantages: \
...Books are great, really. If I could, I would read all day and all night and all day and night again, with a little bit left over for playing football in. Y’know, it would be great. Though I suspect a lot of the time would be spent reading some books over and over and over and over again. Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca, loads of Agatha Christie books (the peculiar M. Hercule Poirot, more so than Miss Marple). Probably the Arthur books, and To Kill and Mockingbird, too. Then they’d be the children’s books – What-a-Mess, the stories about the Afghan Hound Puppy – Prince Amir of Kinjan. My naughty Little sister, as well. But the most read, probably, out of all the books, would have to be George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four.
Nineteen Eighty-Four was first published in 1949 by Martin Secker and Warburg...

Disciple of Dracula
Review of Taste The Blood Of Dracula DVD by
dadmancat
Advantages: Good cast, sets, competent direction, nice score
Disadvantages: Uneven screenplay, too little of Dracula
...a golden cross. The salesman is witnessing the death of the vampire as filmed for 'Risen from the Grave'. Safely crumbled to dust, and leaving his cape and other personal effects lying about, the salesman scoops up the dessicated Count, and starts for home.
Back in England, a trio of rich businessmen are leading a double life, William Hargood (Geoffrey Keen), Samuel Paxton (Peter Sallis) and Jonathon Secker (John Carson) are all keen to project an image of respectable men who give much to charity. They are also members of a small society devoted to illicit thrill seeking, whether it be drink, drugs, or women. Even such daring acts lose their thrall for these 'gentlemen' and they become interested in a scheme relayed to them by the devil-may-care Lord Courtley (Ralph Bates).
Courtley is a rogue, known to dabble in the black arts, and also...

IN FAIR VERONA
Review of A Season with Verona: Travels Around Italy in Search of Illusion, National Characters - Tim Parks by
Chris_Padden
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...for that, but I for one do not feel it is quite a miracle yet, and neither does the author. Hellas and Chievo hate each other as local rivals, but there is more to it than that. Like many top Italian teams the two Verona sides share the same stadium, so the Hellas fans accuse them of stealing it away from them. Racism again is an issue. Chievo have a great reputation, their fans are behaved, they have black players on the team. They are just too white and clean, and Hellas are made even worse as a result. Again this is a total fabrication of the media, but it works. Chievo have come from nothing to the top of Seria A for a time. When they were in the lower leagues they had a handful of fans. Now they are winning and playing top teams suddenly they can fill a 20,000-seat stadium. Where have all these fans come from? They have brought success...

Review of York Body Gym by
riccardo_milesaleno
Advantages: Can support 200kg so good for the big guys.
Disadvantages: Butterfly wings get in the way.
...The York Folding bench is an incline bench which can be easily adjusted to give 4 different angles of back rest, It also has a detachable leg extension attachment which is great for doing leg curls. It has 2 safety hooks for the barbell bench press which is a must if you are working out on your own and don't have a spotter. It has 2 butterfly attachment which just get in the way and nobody ever really uses them. The maximum total weight it supports is 200kg including body weight so it is good for the heavy lifters.
My opinion on the bench is:
I think it is really good its durable and comfortable, it can be easily folded up to hide away in a corner. I have had a lot of use out of mine and its still going strong. Its very sturdy and is built with thick metal tubing. Its defiantly worth the wile buying it, it costs around 89.99 and here...

Medieval revelry in July
Review of Chesterfield (Derbyshire) by
werewolf
Advantages: large market town, plenty of shops
Disadvantages: too many mobile phone shops
.... More details on 01246 345727. Free entry.
The museum is free to enter and has regular events during the school holidays to bring “history to life” with Roman centurians, Viking soldiers, etc.
The May Bank Holiday weekend is usually a Family History fair, conducted by the Chesterfield and District Family History Society. This can be very fruitful for people who are tracing their roots in the area.
5. The Chesterfield Town Trail (short trail 1 mile round trip; long trail 2 mile trip (round trip with detours), incorporates some of the above, with other items of interest (suggested by the Civic Society), including Archbishop Secker’s House, United Reform Church, Holy Trinity Church (where George Stephenson was buried), Market Place pump (which has recently been repainted and floor lights put round it ) and the Royal Oak in the Shambles...
