My smart kitchen tiles

Advantages: look grear

...As a lot of you know I have recently had an extension on the house which has provided me with lots of ideas for reviews .We decided to go for a country style kitchen with pine units and laminate wood plank type floor. When in B&Q we looked at the wall tiles to go around the sink area and behind the cooker to act as a splash back. We decided we liked the mosaic tiles best. These are small tiles in a mixture of colours we decided on greens and browns keeping our colours in the kitchen natural. On the pack it says multi as it is an assortment of colours These tiles come in packs of 4 they cost £43.98p a pack. Each tile measures 305 mm wow that’s expensive do you really think we can afford it as we need about £250 to buy enough to cover the area we want to. Review of Mosaic Wall Tiles

Easy Tile Fantasic!

Advantages: Easy to put up, easy to cut to fit, look great, removed my damp problem.
Disadvantages: I had to go 10m to find enough stock to finish the bathroom. More stock on the shelves ple Wilkos!

...Hi I bought 4 packs of the Easy Tiles from Neken last weekend and have since redecorated my bathroom. Ive used white 4" with 'brushed silver' to break it up a bit. Then added the silver 3d tex tile sticker in random spots. Firstly I couldnt believe how easy they went up and how quickly! The panels cut with scissors and fit around corners. Just put some of the adhesive on the tiles and stick them to the walls. I actually put them over the old tiles for a kind of 'face lift.' Secondly they look great and I've never tiled anything in my life before!!! Really pleased and the tex-tile transfers also look fantastic. My friends have seen the job I've done and dont believe me that I didnt get a professional tradesman in to fo the tiling! lol Couldn't be happier and wanted to tell someone!!!!. Claire...

...On deciding to give our bathroom a revamp, we bought some lovely new ceramic wall tiles and stone borders, then contacted a local builder (who is also a friend) to give us a price for fixing them. We were thinking of a price of around £150 as it isn't a very big area. To our shock, he quoted us a price of £300 excluding adhesive, grout, edgings, spacers etc. Thinking that this was a bit ridiculous, we decided we would do it ourselves. We went to our local Focus DIY store to get all the tools we needed, most importantly, a tile cutter. Having never used one before, we decided to make our choice by choosing somewhere in the middle of cheap and expensive. There was a choice of cutters ranging from £12 up to £40. The Plasplugs Contractor Tile Cutter retailed at £19.99 and caught our eye because it actually looked more expensive...

Topps Tiles - Top or bottom?

...I have just purchased a large quantity of tiles and adhesives from Topps Tiles in West Bromwich to do my bathroom. I had been to a number of other places, and I was somewhat dissatisfied with the choice, quality and price. Topps Tiles had a good choice of tiles for bedroom or bathroom at what were reasonable prices. I worked out what I needed with the help of the tiler who is going to do my bathroom. The list price of these items was around £630, and I asked if I could get a discount and they reduced this by 10%, then when I asked what the best price they could do would be they stated £550, a 13% reduction overall. One tip is always ask the name of the person giving the quote, as you might find someone else will give you a completely different price! Self Adhesive Vinyl Floor Tiles

Advantages: Minimal Fuss, Cheap and Look Effective
Disadvantages: Cutting upto walls and doors

...I recently bought some Self Adhesive vinyl tiles for my elderley neighbour, to freshen up her kitchen, as she wanted a change on a limited budget. She does not have much money, so i gave her the idea of just sticking down self stick vinyl tiles on top of her existing vinyl (it has been down 20 years, very clean still but a dodgy terracotta swirly design and makes the room look dingy). Tile Decals - not a quick fix (now with photos)

I decided to treat my mum by decorating her bathroom for her as it was quite dated and I had some spare time on my hands. I decided to go for a total change and go for a modern, fresh look, plain pastel blue walls with the chrome look. I was on a budget so rather than re-do the tiling all together, I just replaced the splash-back tiles over the sink and replaced just a few across the bath that were cracked. Tile Care - Damaged our bathroom and ran off

Disadvantages: Damaged our house, left work unfinished, unprofessional

...We got a decent quote from this company to retile our bathroom so decided to use their services... BIG mistake! The tiler turned up at the agreed time and was left to work on the bathroom as agreed. My wife took 3 days off work for the bathroom to be completed. She was downstairs getting on with some housework and feeling quite happy that the bathroom would look great in 3 days. Part way through the morning my wife realised that she couldn't hear anything happening upstairs. The noise that was present earlier had ended and now there was just quiet. She walked upstairs to check and make sure the tiler was ok but instead of finding him working she found an empty bathroom! Well almost empty, the tiler had left and taken all his tools but he'd left tiles and rubble on the floor and in the bath! Worse still he'd removed the shower...
