Blackpool Tower - A place worth visiting

Advantages: The whole day can be spent in the Tower
Disadvantages: Very expensive

...The Blackpool Tower is one of the main tourist attractions in Blackpool, situated on the promenade. The Tower was built in 1894 and in height it stands at 158m (518ft) tall, The Blackpool Tower can be seen from other places such as Morecambe Bay and in September the Tower is illuminated which is a beautiful sight. I have visited Blackpool on several occasions and each time I have made a point to go to the Tower, there are a number of activities in the Tower which are suitable for all ages. Over the years Blackpool Tower has changed in many ways and it is as enjoyable now as it was when I first visited Blackpool. The Tower Ballroom - The Tower Ballroom has been in the Tower from 1897, the ballroom is absolutely amazing and has held shows such as Strictly Come Dancing among others, there are also shows held in the Ballroom on certain...

Blackpool tower what a let down

Advantages: good view on a nice day
Disadvantages: where do i start?

...I hadn't been up Blackpool tower since i was 8 so to say this visit with my husband and 2 year old (plus a new one in a pram) was a disappointment is an understatement. We went with another couple who have a 3 year old boy so we were looking to make it a big day out. Firstly the shabby entrance is not the most inviting. There is no ramp at the front to allow ease of access for prams or wheelchairs. You have to enter the back way for this. Secondly the prices. It shopuld have been £33 for a family of 3 so i questioned our little lads age to see if he could get in for free. I was told he had to stand against a board with a picture of the tower on it. The basics were if he was taller than the tower - he had to pay. Now my lad is approx 3ft and he was a whole head above the tower. Luckily we had a free child entry vouvher with us as...

A Towering Success And Towers Of Fun

Advantages: Much To Do, Fantastic Views
Disadvantages: Can be Pricy

...a resort. Its obvious that the people of Blackpool are proud of the iconic tower, and for this reason it acts as a beacon, symbolizing almost everything Blackpool has to offer. Look on logos, Blackpool Tower is there. Look in brochures countless pictures of Blackpool Tower are there. Go in Blackpool gift shops and hoards of Blackpool Tower merchandise is there. Perhaps then it is ironic that the tower faces off Blackpool's other famous towering structure, the 213ft Pepsi Max Big One rollercoaster which sits at the other end of the Golden Mile. Both are equally famous and both stand proud over Blackpool's promenade, like brothers from an old and new generation. In the past the tower was little more than an observation attraction whereby guests would hand over a shilling and be taken up in little elevators to the top to marvel at Blackpool...

Review of Blackpool Tower and Circus, Blackpool

Blackpool Tower we do like to be at the seaside

Advantages: plenty to do for a rainy day
Disadvantages: The bars and food aren't cheap

...ADDITIONAL COMMENTS - 25.4.01 Have just come back from Blackpool. Some criticsims - it must have had about 100 years of dust on those mouldings on the tower ballroom roof. They didn't appear to pick any rubbish up at night up in the gods where we were sat. There was absolutely no knee/leg room for anyone who was taller than 5ft 5in. I ended up sitting on the steps. If you vist the ballroom sit downstairs not up in the gods. The area around the tower left a lot to be desired gangs of hen / stag parties everywhere. Maybe the intended new gambling hotels/licences might actually help improve Blackpool at night. Its really not the area to be around late at night especially with children. Gangs of lads kicking bottles down the street and things like that - my daughter was scared all the way back to the hotel and that was only a 5...

Review of Blackpool Tower

#Im on top of the world looking down on blackpool#

Advantages: Circus, ballroom, jungle jim if you have kids
Disadvantages: Dont try to make a day out of it. More for the kids as well. Overpriced

...I remember when Blackpool Tower was fun and actually could be classed as a 'day out'. Now it has been reduced to an over priced, hour of rubbish. I would reccommend that you visit the circus. This is definately the best feature of the tower. Every season it hosts a new show, bursting with new talent and amazing acts. It also holds a fantastic pantomime circus at Christmas, and I would reccomend taking the kids to the tower at this time of year, as its probably the most imaginative and exciting time of year, and the circus offers great entertainment which is a bit different from going to the theatre to watch the traditional christmas pantomimes. Just whatever you do, don't miss the circus, because the rest isn't so thrilling. There is a dinosaur ride, which takes you on a journey through the ages. Its a bit like...

518ft and 9 inches of pure pleasure!

Advantages: Plenty to do, fun for all the family, not too expensive and a brilliant circus!
Disadvantages: None unless you are scared of heights.

...and the salt from the Irish sea on which the tower stands on the banks of had corroded the tower very badly. Thankfully however the powers to be at that time re-invested in the tower and between 1921 and 1924 the whole of the steelwork in the structure was replaced and it still stands tall and proud to this day. From outside it is easy to think that all the tower is, is a tower and other than taking a trip to the top there would be nothing else to do, of course once you have visited the tower you know different. Once you enter through the giant towers doors there is a magical world inside for kids and adults alike. Inside the massive building that engulfs the base of Blackpool tower you will find plenty to do whether you are 4 or 94 you will enjoy everything the tower has to offer and unlike many attractions these days you truly can call...

A bleak Blackpool hotel

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...... it appeared to be dirty as it was very dark and opressive with the bar area being so dark and the decor being very old. It definitely needed some brightening up with some fresh paint and carpets throughout. Family friendly Not at all! Yes they offer you a travel cot but even then you are madeto feel as though you are doing them a huge disservice! The lay out of the hotel is all over the place with far too many steps that it isn't practical with a pushchair and certainly isn't with a wheelchair. There were no highchairs at the restaurant although Baby B was too young for one so perhaps we would have been offered one if she was older, I'm not sure! The entertainment certainly wasn't suitable for children's ears or eyes for that matter! So definitely not a place to go with a family! Blackpool Blackpool itself wasn...

Review of Liberty'S On The Square, Blackpool

Blackpool Revisited

Advantages: Plus ca change
Disadvantages: Plus c'est les memes shows

...2003, when I made the journey to see my elder son who has - coincidentally - gone to live there. I have been several times since then and each time have been more struck by the degree to which it has changed, the degree to which it is unchangeable, and the degree to which it may have to change in the future. * Blackpool is not much given to looking back. It is a town that lives in the present, not the past. It has buildings that could now be considered historic, but this is not how they are treated. The Tower complex and the Winter Gardens are not visited as heritage sites or architectural curiosities. They are visited because they still offer entertainment, the purpose for which they were designed and which they have always served. I doubt that one in a hundred of the people who pass through the portals of the Winter Gardens...

The CN Tower

Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: None

....99 Canadian Dollars. With this price you get to do the following; Look Out + Glass Floor + Skypod + Movie + Motion Theatre Ride (Must be 107 centimetres (42 inches) to ride) Includes Express Elevation. It?s the best package that you could go for, because it allows you to experience everything the tower has to offer, this price is exclusive for both children and adults, but it?s not a bad price. It will allow you the access to the express elevator that takes you to the observation deck, you get to experience the look out area, the experience of the Glass Floor, the actual Skypod experience, and you get to see and movie, and have a chance to experience a motion theatre ride, which is amazing. All these will be explained in detail. Other packages include; (All in Canadian Dollars) Observation Sky Pod Experience Look Out + Glass Floor...

Review of CN Tower, Toronto

It is breezy at the top Updated

Advantages: Plenty to do for everyone
Disadvantages: A bit expensive

...I have recently visited Blackpool and have found out some updated information about the Tower so here is my original opinion with bits corrected or added in to give the mose current informtaion. Have you got a head for heights? Then try a trip to the top of Blackpool Tower! The view is tremendous but it’s a long way down…. Blackpool itself is on the north west coast of England, and the Tower is right on the seafront roughly opposite the Central Pier. It is easily accessible using the trams that run from Fleetwood in the North to Starr Gate in the South. The buses also run straight along the promenade, past the Tower. The Tower is still one of Blackpool’s the major attractions. It is open from 10am until 6pm every day from 7th April until 4th November. It costs £10 for adults and £6 for children and senior...
