...In our brand new Fiesta, delivered this month, the Blaupunkt TravelPilot comes fitted in a unit combined with the radio. To try this system out, over a period of three weeks, and a total of about 600 miles, entirely within my home county of West Yorkshire, i ran the TravelPilot alongside my own local knowledge of the area built up over 17 years of driving around the area. To enter a destination it is necessary to go through a menu and a series of entries not wholly unlike entering a text message on a mobile phone. There is a form of predictive texting, which can be quite useful. The problem I found, though, was that before I could find the way to, say, Huddersfield Police Station I needed to know what road it is in. Advantages: direct replacement for your old head unit..removable front panel,great sound quality.

The travelpilot is also ideal for finding petrol stations,airports..town centres,places of interest anywhere! it has memory for our favourite/last journeys too! the traffic message channel keeps you informed of any delays ahead,while the sat nav system will reroute your journey to the best possible route! all at the press of a button! YOU CAN AVOID TOLLS IF YOU WISH..not allways possible i'm sure,but nice to have the option ...Both my drivers like the systems,and get on well with them.Even though,i have heard on the odd occastion,that they have got abit confused in london and other city... ...The Quatro Fontanas or the Fountain Travel Club stayed in this Hotel (perhaps better decribed as Bed Guest House) The first thing it is very cheap in price two nights for Double Room thru Bookings.com would be about £60. You can also see photos of the Rooms on that site) Now I have said it is Cheap and no breakfast ,DONT TURN OFF JUST YET, it does have other attributes. First you have to find the place. We arrived as most do by Train from Pisa where we had flown into. The Airport at Pisa is only 3 miles from the Railway station, then about 35 mins on train to Lucca. You come out of the station at Lucca and are faced with what they call the Meadow. This is a grassy park area that lies outside the WALLS, yes WALLS. ...Ah, holiday memories. We stayed just outside Lucca in a lovely converted farmhouse with a beautiful pool surrounded by olive and oleader trees and stunning views of the mountains. Lucca itself has the beautiful circular Piazza Anfiteatro at its centre, where 4 or 5 storey terracota and yellow painted buildings curve around enclosing you in another world. Cafe tables around the edge let you sit and watch the world go by. The whole city is surrounded by a huge, very wide 16 th century city wall. We hired bicycles and cycled around the tree-lined pathway that runs along the top. From here you can catch glimpses of the narrow little streets within where much of it is pedestrianised, apart from the obligatory mad moped riders! Advantages: Excellent radio both at FM & AM

...this blaupunkt car radio has an excellent radio front end at both FM & (mostly) AM! Its ability to receive AM (MW) radio broadcasts with the usual very short FM whip antennas that are commonly found at newer cars, is a real plus! And the sound on AM isn't bad at all. It does have a good AM IF bandwidth filter probably, that allow you to listen good sounded AM stations, with a quality (at least an AM quality that most newer radios doesn't provide for the forgotten ? MW band), while keeping the selectivity needed for first adjacent channel intereference out. A better noise blanker filter, or a faster AGC wil help a little at city terrains where the manmade static noises are higher! For FM the sound is good (take in account the overcompressed FM modulated signals that most stations have now) and its sensitivity is good enough to get... Read review

...Where to start? Pisa airport where my wife and I landed on the start of our Tuscan adventure no frills quick baggage reclaim and out into the glorious sunshine. We decided to take a taxi to our destination instead of waiting for the service bus that runs regularly from Pisa to Lucca. Our driver was unfamiliar with the village of Santa Maria del Giudice, where our apartment was located, but he was friendly and helpful and finally got us there. The apartment was up a set of narrow stairs and on two levels, a kitchen, bathroom and small living room/bedroom with a double bedroom on the mezzanine above. Outside was a small terrace with a table and chairs that was sunlit throughout most of the day. Cozy, comfortable with all that was required to look after oneself.
