...I was given this Rimmel Hide The Blemish concealer by my mum because she had purchased it from Boots and it came out a bit pale on her skin. I have quite fair skin but I still find it quite pale. I use it along with my normal Boots No7 concealer in a darker colour because you get a more natural look if you use the two shades together. The lighter (Rimmel) one is good for dark circles and for highlighting the light areas around your eyes because these bits are naturally more pale than the rest of your face. I then use it again as a base to prevent shine on general spots and blemishes around my chin and forehead etc, but then have to put a bit of my No7 on on top just to make the colour a bit darker. Advantages: darkly personal challenging adult electronica
Disadvantages: hard to listen to at times, plus Derek Bailey's atonal guitar

...David Sylvian, the velvet voiced ex singer with Japan, and a solo artist since the early eighties is most well known for his often lush, romantic music. Blemish is nothing like the neo-classical Secrets Of The Beehive, nothing like the ambient rock of Dead Bees On A Cake, nothing like the proto-world music of Words With The Shaman. Blemish was written and recorded very quickly, as Sylvian was in the throes of a very painful separation from his wife and children, and predominantly features just Sylvian himself on all manner of electronica, which buzzes and fizzes most disagreably. Shards of angular guitar crop up courtesy of jazzer Derek Bailey but these are even more atonal than the electronics. ...There has been a lot of publicity about this product and one of my friends recommended it to me so I decided to try it. The only concealer I had used before was a concealer stick so I was nicely surprised with the ease of use of this product. You apply the liquid with a brush which is connected to the pen. To get the liquid on to the brush you merely click the button at the top of the pen and the liquid comes down into the middle of the brush so you can easily apply it. The downsize is that if you push the button on the top a couple too many times and too much of the liquid comes out then it is not possible to put it back in the tube, you either have to use it or just clean it away. Advantages: My skin feels less clogged up, smooth and just looks better.
Disadvantages: It's so expensive, £15 for a face mask... I can live without this one.

Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer

Advantages: Easy to apply, small, good value
Disadvantages: Comes off easily, doesn't hide all blemishes

...Being a younger person I always tend to look for cheaper, better value make-up and this concealer definately was good value. I can't say I have compared it to other, more expensive, concealers but it seemed to do the job for me. It is a nice soft texture which was pleasant to apply. However, I found at times it tend to come off easily and not blend in perfectly over some bits of skin. This resulted in a slightly unnatural look although this appears to be its only disadvantage. I also really liked the fact it is in a 'stick' form. Not only does this mean it is easy to transport and can easily fit in bags but also making it very easy to apply. Overall, the concealer has lasted me a long time and still provides a good cover -up to almost all spots and blemishes....

...Having tried Clinique's anti-blemish gel with disapointing results I was a bit reluctant to try their 3 step system for blemished skin. But the shop assistant persuaded me to give it a go. I haven't looked back since! The packaging is a solid affair in Clinique's usual simple style with a big C on the front. The product is dispensed through a pump on the top of the bottle. I only need 2 or 3 squirts of the foam to cover my face, and I only use it once a day.
