Compeed Blister plasters
Advantages: An excellent healing plaster for sore feet
Disadvantages: none
...Every time I have a new pair of shoes I get the same problem..Blisters !!
No matter how soft the shoe is my heels develop sore ,weepy and painful blisters.
We were always told to leave a blister open to the air,so that it had a chance to heal.
But in reality this often leaves the wound open to germs and infection, making the skin cracked and dry.
I went to see our local pharmacist,he is always happy to advise, and he suggested using the Compeed Blister Patches.
To be honest my heels were so sore that I was open to any suggestions he might have made !
I read the leaflet to see how the Blister plasters worked.
These plasters have been used in hospitals for over 20 years and the Compeed Hydrocure system relies on Hydrocolloid based healing.
So the cushioned patch seals the wound, making it impossible for dirt, germs and water to get...

Compeed Blister Gel Plasters: For Us City Folk Too
Advantages: Relieves pain from blisters effectively
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...My husband is one of those crazy walking types who owns a range of sensible shoes and endless amounts of kit that fill up our spare room. Often I resent the existence of this kit as it regularly overflows to the rest of the house and hints are often made that I too need a rucksack for carrying some of said kit myself. However, I have finally found that walkers do have at least one handy little product that the rest of us need to know about: Compeed Blister Gel Pads.
Yesterday I spent a hot, humid Saturday walking about the lovelier parts of Norwich wearing sandals I'd not had on since our honeymoon 10 months ago. The balls of my feet were burning a bit by the time I came home, so for the evening I switched into my "going out boots". The great thing about these boots is that I can wear socks when we go out and avoid actually walking...

Compeed Blister Plasters
Advantages: They work, they stick, they do exactly what it says on the packet
Disadvantages: Only come in boxes of 5; quite expensive
...What a blessing these plasters were! When my son started his first 'real' job with real 'work boots', his feet quickly rebelled! I rushed out to buy appropriate plasters and came back with two sorts, one of which was Compeed. Having never done a full day's hard work in his life, the blisters were plentiful, and he was quick to ask me to get more of the Compeed plasters.
They come in a very handy container, are relatively easily to apply - once you get the hang of things - and, most importantly, they stick!!
Price wise, they were about middle of the road, comparing them to other brands of blister plasters, but I managed to get them on special offer in Superdrug.
I've only been able to get them in packs of 5, so they are working out at not much under £1 for each plaster, but well-worth it when you have extremely tender feet...

Hiker's Little Helper
Advantages: Great product - does everything you need it to do
Disadvantages: Extremely over-packaged, slightly pricey (due to packing?)
...Ok, I admit it, I am writing this opinion under duress. How can I possibly continue to justify my user-name if I don't at least add my meagre views on this most blissful addition to the resources of the hiker?
To feel the need to write about a blister plaster strikes me as more than a little sad?and I'm doing so?so please, be sympathetic.
~
OK let's get real.
Those of us who walk, get blisters. Doesn't matter whether you hike the hills, pound the pavements, schlepp the shops, or simply slowly wander your city streets, parks and byeways. Sooner or later you'll do it in shoes/boots that don't fit too well, and you'll suffer for it.
I know this.
I have been there, and done that.
Thanks to M&S trainers, Merell all-terrain sandals and Brasher GTX boots it's not a phenomenon I have much contention with...

Blistering
Advantages: Reliable and effective
Disadvantages: None
...such a way that you can be burning within three mouse-clicks. The software's wizard-based interface is organised into tasks, which means you don't need to understand the theory behind writing discs to actually do it. All you need to know is what sort of disc you want to make - music, data, mixed or video. Nero works the rest out. For more daring users, it has plenty of advanced features - MP3 and Video CD discs are supported. A very powerful package."
I trust PC Pro implicitly and see no reason whatsoever to argue with their view.
I was very impressed with Nero the first time I tried it, and would never now consider any other package. It operates blisteringly fast, it's effective, efficient and gloriously simple with an easy to use interface that walks you through every step in the process. When I started with Adaptec, it often took...

Don't leave home without them
Advantages: little foot life-savers
Disadvantages: Absolutely none at all
...Compeed Blister Plasters are so clever that I wish I had invented them myself. They have pushed the paper clip into number 2 on my greatest inventions list. Known and loved by walkers everywhere, these little miracle workers can be the difference between a happy day's walking or hell on the hills.
My next door neighbout Alison just ran the London Marathon in 3 hours 20 mins. Her blister kicked in at 6 miles and she spent the next 20 wishing she'd taken along the pack of Compeed that I gave her the day before.
However, you don't have to be athletic to need Compeed. A new pair of shoes, too much sightseeing, badly fitting socks - all can give you a nasty blister.
There's probably not a single handbag or rucksac in my house that doesn't have a pack of these tucked away inside somewhere. There are alternatives and substitutes but...

Wear sexy shoes without the pain!
Advantages: stops rubbing/blisters with most shoes
Disadvantages: didnt seem to work with all my shoes
...I often find that my shoes rub on my feet causing painful blisters. I've bought quite a few pairs of shoes which look gorgeous but cut into my feet or rub, so I tend not to wear them very often. Realising how many pairs of shoes I have that fall into this category, I decided to see if I could get something to stop it.
I actually went to Boots in search of some anti-chafing gel I had seen on a TV advert, but when I was browsing the shelves I came across the Compeed anti-blister stick (It seems it is no longer called FirstAid4Sport, and seems to be aimed more at women now, as it was in the section with the 'party feet' and such products), and decided that sounded more like what I needed.
~About the product~
This product is designed to help prevent blisters and chafing from shoes. It also promises to provide an 'instant reduction...

Quirky yet strangely enjoyable
Advantages: Larger-than-life songs, original arrangements
Disadvantages: Might be a little too "performance-based" for some
...Rachael Sage is a fairly unknown singer-songwriter this side of the pond, and it's probably fair to say that she hasn't made a huge impact back home in the States either although she did land the 2005 Independent Music Award for Best Folk/Adult Album Alternative (AAA) artist. Despite releasing at least seven albums she's yet to make any kind of breakthrough into mainstream play-lists and there lies the problem - whilst her material is AAA in substance, it's also quirky enough to fall outside the scope of most US radio networks. For someone who discovered Rachael Sage through her 2005 album "The Blistering Sun", I feel that's something of a shame, because there's definitely a market for this kind of music. Whilst it's clearly pop in nature, there's almost a bigger performance going on within each song, the larger-than-life, fulsome...

My poor blistered fingers.
Advantages: Very Funny
Disadvantages: None
...the crew and sail home.
Opinions:
*******
With the great trio at its heart this film is easy on the eye. The jokes are simple and enjoyable. A nostalgic comedy which is funny and light.
Some remarks are in herd which nowadays are clearly racist!
When Will and the boy's meat the island chief the language used is cringingly bad. This was made in 1936.
DVD Features:
**********
Format: Black & White, PAL
Language: English
No of discs: 1
Classification: U
Region: Region 2
Run Time: 82 minutes
Made in: 1936
There are no extras on ANY of the DVDs, just chapter selection but the quality is perfect.
Well there you have it, the definitive collection. Some good film and a couple of poor ones. Hope you enjoyed the review.
Now I'm off to bandage my poor blistered fingers.

Blistered and Burned? Heal it quicker!
Advantages: Heals burns quickly, little or no scabbing.
Disadvantages: Gel lining can dry out when wearing, 1 yr use by date.
...angry looking and is beginning to welt up. I realise then that I must have burnt it through the night on the hot water bottle (nothing else could explain it)
Next morning I woke up, after a very troubled sleep, tossing and turning to avoid rubbing it against the duvet. I look down and realise the burn has erupted into a huge water blister, with a tiny little one beside it, the blister was about the same size as a 20p although slightly more elongated and was about 3-4mm raised. I know that burns should be allowed to heal themselves so for the first few days I left it to try allow it to heal, and reduce itself. Knowing that blister fluid usually absorbs itself back into the body and also to check for any green/yellow colour (surely a sign of infection) it stayed clear thankfully.
The blister didn't change at all for about 5 days...
