I got mine free from the diabetic clinic. The machine comes with a finger pricker, a small vial of test strips and a few lancets. You need to set the time date and whether you want it on 12h or 24h clock. You should then wash your hands, then remove a lancet and place it in the pricker. Then remove the chip from the test strips and insert it into the machine. Every time you get a new set of strips you will also get a new chip the chip must be changed with every new set of strips or the machine will not work properly. Remove a test strip...

A great touch from One Touch Ultra

Advantages: Only takes 5 seconds to produce results, can take blood sample from forearm as well as fingertips
Disadvantages: Still have to take blood samples!

It is a blood pressure monitor. All my life my blood pressure has been wildly erratic. The highest measured blood pressure I recorded was 180/100. High yes, but I had just spent 12 minutes on a treadmill having a heart test. Anyway it was back to 140/80 within 5 minutes. They told me that was great. Anyway when I go to the doctors it varies between 157/95 being the highest and 117/76 being the lowest. Generally though it is about 140/80-85 I have researched this a little and I have realised that your blood pressure can vary and change very rapidly. I have confirmed this by visits to the doctor and a medical friend of mine who uses a different machine to the one...
